It would be interesting to know where you live, because it seems that there are huge differences on how lotteries are conducted from country to country.

In my case, I don't only know a couple of cases of people who won the Euromillions and are now rich (2nd grade relationship, "friends of friends", unfortunately... otherwise they might have a detail with me ), but a few years ago a big prize of the Christmas lottery was also paid in the city I live in, and many acquaintances of my neighbourhood won like 250k per ticket, not enough to make you rich, but life changing if well managed.

But I think that you are not taking into account that in sports betting the odds are also decided by the casinos themselves. You may know that Real Madrid will win over Getafe, for example, because you have good knowledge of La Liga. But when the casino gives you a 1.42 vs. 4.21 they are already discounting most of the value of this knowledge.

One could say: oh, but that works against most players, not against me because I know that Getafe has more chances to win this match in particular because (whatever) and I will bet against the majority and win. But in fact, I think that it is designed to make it pure luck in the long term.

Well, the only reason I think why lottery is harder to win than sports betting is probably due to the fact that lotteries always have alot of participants buying millions if not billions of lottery tickets, coupled with the fact that lottery is a complete luck based game, so at the end of the day, it is only those that are lucky that end up winning.

Sports betting on the other hand is a bit of knowledge and a bit of luck based game, your knowledge of sports is what will increase your chances of wining a bet, while luck sees that you actually wins the bet.
