'There's an old saying that goes: "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"'

The problem is that if you look below the surface, for all but the very largest coins (bitcoin) the security model of pow (as it currently stands for guldencoin and other similar sized coins) is very much broken.
It may appear 'not broken' to 'regular folk', as nobody has chosen to do any large scale attacks yet, but that doesn't mean that every single pow coin is not a disaster waiting to happen, the more and more mainstream crypto becomes the more likely this is, and when it does happen it will likely not be just one small coin that gets attacked but all of them.

It would be reckless to wait until after a major attack happens to do something about it, at that point it is already much too late, the damage will be done and irreparable.
It is absolutely essential that security issues are sorted out now already, whether the solution be PoS, multi algo, a combination of the two or something else entirely.

Just to echo what MaNI is saying, this next update is basically about securing our blockchain as best as humanly possible. Whatever gets added isn't about gimmicks and marketing it's to make sure we have the best blockchain security of any coin out there. After that the fun starts with real innovative development coming your way with the core and outside the core of guldencoin. We are here to win but in order to win we have to make sure our users have the most secure environment possible because everyones investment in guldencoin is extremely important especially as we infiltrate the mainstream public.

if guldencoin solution does not work are you still going to add the multi algo for guldencoin?

Hey Dutchyyy,

We have ideas in place but we need to test the implementation, so give us a month and everyone in the community will know the direction we headed. Testing begins in about 2 weeks.

Respect! Say it like it is , one of the reasons I support this coin so much is because of the way you guys have handled things.

Everything mentioned about POW vulnerability is correct, but it just completely slipped my mind.

That's because I've got multi-algo on the brain.  Wink

Go with multi-algo and you've got 10 good years at very least of reliable, highly secure, most likely with an ever increasing network hashrate, POW.

I could be wrong, but I think it's a no-brainer . . . but then again, as you see in my signature line, and from my postings, I've got a hardcore multi-algo background from way back, so you've got to forgive me.

Still, tell my why I'm wrong.

And if it could be coupled with even better additional layered security on top . . .  Cool

I heard groestl algorithm killed myraidcoin and asian mining group sitting with close to 250 million digibyte waiting to be dumped as they abused one of the algorithms. Multi Algo is good if you have coin with very low supply, under 21 million. I would suggest Guldencoin don't go with Multi Algo unless you want to make asian miners rich.

Two things:
1) The multi algo we are looking at implementing is our own, it is going to contain fixes for several issues that we have picked up which the other coins who implemented multi algo did not. If we are not happy that we can fix these we will not launch it, we are not going to launch a broken multi algo. This is proper development with proper testing not some copy and paste job and that is why it will take some time.
2) Groestl is not currently in our list of algos that will be chosen, we are at this point only considering algos  that already have widespread use on larger coins.

Could you give some more details about this?
