Wow, that's not true. Some people had issues with staking in hybrid, for now it works perfect if you keep it in classic until they bring out  a fix. Security is fine. Keeping coins on an exchange is just incredibly stupid. Chance of losing coins on an exchange is at least 100 times bigger than on your own computer.

Staking in hybrid mode does not work and will not work (due to not having the complete blockchain downloaded & up to date.)
Classic way is the only way it will stake, but the default activation upon install is Hybrid mode.
At Least some exchanges make backups, 99% of users don't.

EDIT : Things that can destroy your PND coins if you  don't keep a backup
Fire, Flood, Stolen PC, Hard drive failure, and the newest cryptowall viruses that lock up your data unless you pay a ransom.

What is special about mintcoin? Why will it fare better than other coins and be adopted? I'm not trying to FUD or anything, I'm looking to invest, and like that the coin has such an active core team, but don't understand why people would prefer it over DRK or any other coin with an active dev team and more features.

No it cannot. Your mobile wallet is a Lite wallet.

Further, the reason why we have not yet and do not plan to develop a mobile wallet that stakes is that it requires constant internet connection and CPU usage. It would probably kill your phone's battery in about 20 minutes, and is therefore not particularly useful!

For the record, I can confirm that my wallet is in Hybrid mode. I do not use the installer, I use the standalone windows binaries. It has been staking this whole time and will continue to stake for as long as I have my wallet open. I'd like to also mention that I include in my config txindex=1, because of habit mainly. I don't know if this makes a difference to anything or not but just thought I'd put that out there for added info on my situation.

Seriously tho if the coin is that much a problem for people, instead of FUDing up the thread, how about you move onto the coin of your choice. At the end of the day, no one is forcing anyone onto the coin, no one is holding a gun to their heads and demanding them to use the coin... Do something constructive with your time instead of wasting it here achieving absolutely nothing or are people's lives that dull and bland that they have nothing else to do except be trolls. Such an exciting life they must lead if this is the case...

One final note, I wouldn't advise storing all your coins or any large number of coins on an exchange. This is single handedly the biggest mistake you could make next to not backing up your wallet ofcourse Do we not remember all the exchanges that had problems with hacking and scamming people ultimately losing their coins? A little thought goes a long way... be smart, never go full retard.

Friendly reminder to not feed the trolls. All the fresh accounts with under 20 posts always suddenly turn up and try to spread false rumours and nonsense after a market price drop. No prizes to guess why this is always the case.

All successful coins with growing communities will always have their fair share of trolls and people spreading FUD in order to manipulate others, usually at very specific times following certain market price movements. It is up to us as a community to not give them the attention and exposure that they are trying to obtain to complete their objective of spreading misinformation.

Hybrid wallet is staking, but we are aware that a select few users are having issues with it, and we are working on providing a patch to solve the issue soon for the individuals that are affected by it.

For the record as well, hybrid staking is working for me. I had few trouble trying to get synced (the bug some people have) but it got fixed as soon as i deleted my peers.dat and resynced my blockchain. now it's staking normally.

well the only apps I use on my phone are games and that only when I'm sitting/standing somewhere waiting
Unless you can make some kind of social panda app (like whatsapp/skype group) with a lot of PND members on... or a special version for irc with 1 touch it connects to pandacoin irc.
+ the ability to pm people + the ability to create an extra channel. (I guess android irc already covers those things but it's a pain to stay connected so more like a message service rather than a chat service)
