Monero Price Finally Starts to Rebound, price surpase $125
The past two weeks have been somewhat crazy for the Monero community. With a major price increase taking place not too long ago, it was evident the Monero price would correct itself sooner or later. Unfortunately for XMR holders, the Bitcoin price also took a big dump while this correction was taking place, pushing the Monero price down quite a bit.  At one point, the Monero price briefly dipped below $100, although that dip was bought up quickly.

I succesfuly sent 18 million XMR today

This is a known bug if you are using a relatively old wallet cache.

How do I fix it?
EDIT:
Attempting this
https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/3122/how-do-i-delete-the-wallet-cache/3123

Thought it worked, but submitting 2 tx files I had results in
http://prntscr.com/gilzbo

And the other one
Quote
Can't submit transaction: transaction <5ebbe59977bfadd50669a7349c98c1bfb3310f0e615acc1c11e6a4d5429d0f60> was rejected by daemon with status: Failed. Reason: double spend

Are you using a local daemon / node or a remote node?

This is great news, a very smart move from Ledger!
Would be awesome if Monero were also directly supported by Trezor too - hopefully the news from ledger will spur them on (fingers crossed)

PSA: Users, (solo)miners, exchanges/merchants/services, and pool operators must be on CLI v0.11.0.0 or GUI v0.11.0.0 in advance of the scheduled protocol upgrade otherwise you will get booted off the network. Miners, please contact your pool operator to ask them if they have upgraded!

Is Monero's cryptonote technology quantum computer secure?

What is the threat regarding quantum computing being able to deanonimize monero users?

Nobody knows, quantum computing breaking cryptonight is least of our worries, if that happens anything we've encrypted with conventional algorithms will be broken and whole hell is break lose, bitcoin will fail, ssl will fail, everything will become plain text.
Is Monero's cryptonote technology quantum computer secure?

What is the threat regarding quantum computing being able to deanonimize monero users?

NONE are and BTC will be the first to fall, not even Suite B cryptography is!

The worlds cryptographers are working on new types as we speak. One promising method is polynomial cryptography. That is refereed to as Multivariate cryptography.

That is not the point.  I have talked to some Dash guys who are claiming that Monero is unscaleable and after the QC breaks cryptonote all transaction can be deanonymized after since the blockchain is public.

In Bitcoin this is no issue, since BTC doesnt promise forward security. But even if Monero uppgrades itself to quantum resistant cryptography, the transaction before that will still be deanonimized.

I am not saying that Dash is better or not, I am just saying that this is an issue for Monero, a huge issue. Any comments on this?

If quantum tech becomes the reality, I expect all technology to radically change.

Things will have to move and migrate with the times.

You say its not an issue for bitcoin? but you don't have any bitcoin! because I just got your key/login/whatever with my quantum computer and now its drained.

No I was referring to it that it's not a retroactive issue. BTC can implement Schorr signature or whatever its called which is quantum resistant.

At which point you just send your BTC to a new address and it's over.

Whereas in Monero if Monero will get upgraded to a QC resistant algo, you will send your money to a new address.

The problem however is that the entire blockchain up to that point will be deanonymized.

So Monero doesn't provide forward-anonymity.

Ok sure, but I'm pretty positive Monero is the only cryptocurrency project that have hired Ph.D mathematicians that are looking into that very thing you are worried about...

Unlike Dash who hired some random youtuber with tits to make videos/promote them.  And I really don't mean for that to be read in a condocending tone, but hopefully you can see that there is just no reasonable comparison one could make about any other "cryptocurrency project" in relation to Monero except maybe Bitcoin.

Edit: this wasn't really directed at you personally... just wanted to get my thought out there about that subject.

I see what you are saying, and that looks like the case, at this time - but again - least of our worries.  Chances are QC will cause such a shit storm everywhere else, that it just won't matter, or, there will be sufficient notice to deal with it.  The fact that it is being proactively examined is reassuring.  Let's burn our bridges as we get to them, no need to get ahead of ourselves.

How is the new Monero fork gonna affect the network?

1. Better scale?
2. Better privacy?
3. Mining difficulty will remain the same?
4. Any other features?

Yes I see, thanks for honest answer.

I am trying to write an objective article about Monero vs Dash, and whereas I get good answers for Monero questions. I usually get hostility, namecalling, and troll posts in the Dash community.

I try to remain objective but I already see the level of maturity difference between the 2 communities.

Here's a comparison. Sure it's biased but I think the more important question is: "Is it accurate?"

Thanks for the link man.

I would like to read more about this "added cold-signing functionality, and a relay_tx command / RPC call".

Does anyone have a link?

Check out https://www.xmrlotto.com, the current jackpot is 5 XMR which is around $600 right now and the entry fee is only $0.60.  We've run several successful games and have been talked about a lot on the monero subreddit.  If you have any questions about how the game works check out https://www.xmrlotto.com/faq or give us a shout at support@xmrlottery.com or on twitter @xmrlottery
