If the plan for at least the short term is to fork every 6 months to change mining algorithms. Couldnt a group of colluding developers pick the new algo months in advance and create their own asics or leak the algo to bitmain in advance in exchange for money?

Then when the new algo goes live they can fire up their new pre built asics and attack the network and/or just mine away and take all the profit from new blocks?
Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

Devs are not even working on this project any more. Even fluffy pony left.

https://github.com/monero-project/monero/graphs/contributors

Slight down trend in development since July but that's rather to be expected when times are not very exciting for any crypto currencies right now but development appears to still be within normal bounds.

If you are going to fud try to make it something that isn't easily verifiable/disprovable.
I heard some devs are leaving to work on bitcoin private? Expected to be top ten coin this year....

How the fuck did you get 6 merits? From your own sock puppets I presume. Nothing of merit coming out of your brain it seems. Probably have bought a door stop monero asic to be that salty. Going on ignore now. Dont bother engaging.

Could anyone help me with upgrading to v12 on linux mint? I have dependencies but am having trouble with this: Change to the root of the source code directory, change to the most recent release branch, and build:

  cd monero
  git checkout v0.12.2.0
  make
error: -- Configuring incomplete, errors occurred!
See also "/home/lewis/monero/build/release/CMakeFiles/CMakeOutput.log"

Which step did you run before "cd monero"?

When do you think we could keep safe XMR on Ledger nano ?

I feel that there is a lot of delay  Sad

I currently keep nearly all of my XMR on a wallet created from my Ledger.

-edit-  Obviously this is still considered in development.  But it clearly works well in my humble opinion. The only thing lacking, I think, is a tool to derive your XMR private key from the BIP39 24 word seed.

I would say that if you want complete peace of mind I would wait for that tool.  But it was ready enough for me, and I am very glad to have my XMR secured this way.

I'm looking for some recommendations for a Monero mining pool, I know there is a list in the OP but I'm hoping for recommendations from those who are currently mining on a pool they would recommend. The ones I've previously used are MiningPoolHub, MineXMR and Dwarfpool but I want to try out another one.
(must have a European port available)
Thanks.

I wrote about that too. Here is original link by Fluffypony himself:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/8lgvw4/introducing_tari_a_decentralised_assets_protocol/

Fluffypony is slowly switching from Monero to Tari developing. Tari is an our future platform for anonymous assets & contracts on top of Monero. It will compete with ETH, EOS or NEM for example. Please read the full link.

And I have to say, it is VERY GOOD sign, Fluffypony left to be the LEADER DEVELOPER of Monero. It does significantly decrease the centralization of developing process of Monero itself, meaning Monero has reached a MATURE state and can survive without Fluffypony or any other single core developer.

Apart with Tari, later this year we get 1) Bullet Proofs that compress the blockchain size growing per unit time up to 80%. 2) Kovri alpha release that allows for the first time to flow all the Monero net traffic over I2P.

Ha, i hope you have right. The price has been leaking for a whole 2 months now
Some say its due to forkers dumping their monero for monero gold/monerov etc... Not sure, but the price is really bad and low

Once btcp rebase is complete there will be a new top ten! Step aside xmr there’s a new cock in the barn!!!!!!!!!!
Why did you mention about x shitcoin here?

More funny is that two different people come in this thread and shill their coin and argue among them selves why one bitcoin clone is better coin with untraceable ledger then the other.

censorship is inversely related to market flash crash cycles XMR Ring Signature apparatus being caned by Californias' finest Monero specialists ===>

whereas BitcoinInstant[BTI] actually has [XMR] kool aid drinkers helping code it lol *cough-Wink* hahah

These times always come between the good times. We have all been here several times before. Just always take profit when times are good. My crytptos can go to 0 and I'll still be sitting happy in my beautiful log cabin I had built. For now I sell nothing, if we see boom times again than I will take profit again some day.

I think dash is making much more progress in terms of building use case communities around the world. The decentralized governance structure and instantsend tech make it impossible for monero to compete with. This is reflecting in the price.

I suppose the fact that it's a premine scam doesn't factor into the assessment?

I was just depressed. I bought some alt I never heard of (never done that before) that was slammed and it did ok today so i'm just trying to stay even until romero hits what I think will be the bottom. I've thought it was there twice and been wrong so I just have no clue ATM. Cheesy
