Want to change USDT to XMR. Is https://godex.io/ a good solution for that? Does anyone have any experience with this service? I didn't see any information regarding kyc on their homepage. No clue but found this thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/frrql9/say_go_kyc_yourself_to_all_registrations_and_swap/Is Monero hardfork going to change the algorithm? thx No, just a change in ring size. Increase to 16.

Best bet imo is changenow.io ... they do a pretty good job and will only flag your account/need you to go through kyc hoops if you send them tainted/suspicious coins. Even then, they will refund you if you don't want to go through with all of it. Either that or see what's available on localmonero.co

Don't keep your coins on an exchange. Same story as 8 years ago. Same story 8 years from now. Just don't.
Sage advice. To be honest I have always felt like keeping your coins in the custody of a third party just about completely misses the point of Bitcoin (and Monero). It generally costs almost nothing to withdraw them. Back when I played poker for corn I never left any funds on the site. I deposited/withdrew each time. The ability to do that was part of the wonder of Bitcoin. That part was new.

Yeah... this is a super tone deaf move on the part of the Haveno crowd. Also possible they were paid to do it. I also see the complaints from team Monero-fanboys to be fairly hollow as why shouldn't we offer X trading pairs? If there is a market to and from XMR<>ZEC then why shouldn't the include it? Let people who want to take on ZEC do so? Anyway... they should have known this would blow up in their faces.

Zcash’s problem
The issue is not Zcash’s design—its “zk-SNARKs” cryptography is very solid.
According to the researchers, a lot of the privacy coin’s woes can be, er, traced back to how very few Zcash users choose to make use of the “shielded pool” that stops outsiders from connecting the dots between transactions. Monero’s moment
None of this is to say that those who are hoping for privacy when they are making crypto payments need to give up and go back to cold, hard cash.
The university found that Monero’s approach means that it is “much harder” to trace transactions. This altcoin has existed since April 2014. One of its primary features involves a single-use address being generated every time a transaction is made. In January 2017, ring signatures were introduced to narrow traceability further. This concept effectively adds decoys so outsiders will find it much harder to deduce who authorized a transaction.
Although researchers found that a handful of XMR transactions are fully deducible, their study added: “The percentage of partially or fully deducible transactions has been nearly zero for over two years.” In part, Carnegie Mellon attributed Monero’s success to how it has been increasing the number of decoys involved in its ring signatures feature.
“The anonymity of Monero has evolved to a large extent in the recent few years,” the authors said. “Compared to the version three years ago, current Monero transactions can be conducted with superior anonymity with the introduction of new techniques like RingCT.” https://modernconsensus.com/cryptocurrencies/alt-coins/without-a-trace-not-zcash-researchers-warn/

Thanks to John Foss, The Monero Moon Issue 43 was released today, that is always interesting to read but most important thing is that P2Pool continues to grow in size. Anyone who is mining Monero should switch to decentralized P2Pool now: https://www.themoneromoon.com/p/the-monero-moon-issue-43

When I mine via p2pool using the monero gui wallet, how do I know when I actually mine something? Will it appear in the Transactions tab?

Yes. P2pool will send you a transaction for every share you find. It will be small amounts of Monero but there it will be in your transactions. You can also see the shares you have found on this site (this is for the mini pool) https://mini.p2pool.observer/

On the p2pool github site it says that --zmq-pub parameter is required on monerod when mining. That option is not enough I think. Try: --zmq-pub tcp://127.0.0.1:18083
