I have put him and this whole history on the ignore, there is no point in waste time on that anymore. The same as here, but without the trolls. This is a new thread, moderated with the monero-extended account so that there will always be one or more moderators here. If you wish to apply for moderatorship, PM me. Round-the-clock moderation is always welcome. We had some hiccups with moderation at the beginning but it should revert back to normal. Give it a try. I personally will privilege posting on the moderated thread instead of here.

Thanks, I guess I missed it, but what is "MEW" btw? Monero Economy WorkgroupThere are two sides of the Monero coin: obverse is the core team, devoted to the technology i.e. coding. reverse is MEW, devoted to the economy i.e. encouraging adoption, business opportunities... Let's extend the metaphor: the edges of the coin are the gray area where coding and economy overlap. The emission curve is in this gray area. The core team works internally under the collegiality (peer) governance system and externally under the benevolent dictatorship (for life) model. MEW works internally under the weighted voting governance system and has not (at least for now) any external governance system. The Core team and MEW are independant of each other: none can force the other to change its mind. A vote from the MEW doesn't imply the core team has to abide; in reverse, if the core team asks the MEW to do something, MEW is not obliged to follow suit. Therefore, no one feels like being controlled by the other. If a post seemed to imply that one govering body rules above the other, it would be a misinterpretation. I hope this will help you understanding it better. For future references, point people to the Community FAQ entry for MEW.

I was waiting for a 2 months, but nothing positive was happened.. Sold about 5k coins today even at this low price! Now I'm really happy! Bye bye monero!
tomorrow up +400% xd FUN FACT: ... having sold all Bitcoins 2 months ago at 650 US-$ instead of hodling them in nice form of a Monero Bag would have been the better bottomline. Now it's more like 388 US-$ with a strong tendency pointing downwards. The big picture is disliked by all fractions, be it pro or contra Monero. XBT/USD has nothing to do with XMR/XBT, if you want to measure the stability of Monero in a dollar amount every action at Wall Street would influence it.

I ran BitMonero wallet fine a few hours ago, saved my wallet and exited bitmonerod with no problems.. now I'm getting this error:

I might have ran windows low disk space cleanup tool as Armory went and wrote 11gig to my C drive, so what have I deleted where does it live and how do I replace it? Obviously C:\temp has never existed.

What are you laughing for? BCX had reached his goal. He had planned to bring the XMR price down with his exploit bullshit to buy in as cheaply as possible and got what he wanted.

Not at all. Oh on calling out "Bullshit" I do agree, but the daily price is 100% following Bitcoin in response. Now the question is who will sink further down, or propell up? The Litecoin effect can be observed again. Things never change. ps: ack, v0.8.8.3 is outdated

It seems something related to your internet connection, I never had problems with bitmonerod except one time blockchain.bin went corrupted.
ignore the name, its from the compilers pc.
What port(s) does bitmonerod.exe use, I'll forward one manually from the router - never had this problem before either. EDIT: <fluffypony> delete your p2pstate.bin ^^ This fixed it.

We paused updating it shortly after the block 202612 attack so that those on the wrong fork would have a static blockchain they could download and verify against its shasum - now that we've been passed that for a while we can resume automatically updating it. I'll turn all of that back on a bit later:)

"All aboard the Bitcoin Express! We're leaving in 72--errrr...wait, wait...4 day--wait..errr...2 weeks! Yeah, get on board! Next stop Fudville!" What are you laughing for? BCX had reached his goal. He had planned to bring the XMR price down with his exploit bullshit to buy in as cheaply as possible and got what he wanted. Hype gets more results than actual attacks sometimes. I'm thinking of the show Borgias. The French butchered a town when they entered Borgias territory to make future towns unlikely to show resistance. The Borgias son returned the favor when he had plaster cannons made and moved to the turrets of Rome. The French withdrew for fear of having their army decimated by the imagined threat. For me, I view FUD attacks as buying opportunities. The best revenge is showing your enemies how much they've helped you. Can't thank BCX enough. If he got discounted XMR, he should make a donation to the developers of his new investment. If he sells to make a quick buck, then he'll understand--one day soon, I hope--Monero is a global cash system and you always want to have cash on hand.

No offense but I don't think BCX is trying to trade his reputation for a 15% discount on Monero.
His 500BTC bet offer seems to back up my assumption.

I assumed the 500 btc bet was to encourage a collusion of interested parties. If a consortium could guarantee a 500 BTC return for their efforts, they would expend more resources to gain a favorable result. But then I always assume there's a rational plan, but that's not always the case.

The bet is untenable. It is game-theoretically impossible for Risto (or anybody else, who we suppose helps XMR) to accept it. BCX is an asshole, but he's not an idiot and perfectly knew that.
