I must admit that 28800 moto per day is really too much for c-cex now.

I you don't want to go to some other exchange yet (although that would be really the best solution), maybe we should slightly decrease production rate (for example halve production every 200000 blocks instead of 1000000)?

We are generating coins much more slowly than 28800/day right now, and much much more slowly than in the past few weeks.  We were running ahead of schedule, and since the restart we are running behind!

No-one (particularly exchanges and merchants) can really use a coin with a chain that is running at a difficulty that is effectively "below minimum." (Not keeping up on block frequency even at lowest difficulty.)

I think that is solving the wrong problem.  We don't need less coins, we only need more miners.  With more miners the network can stabilize, and with a stable network we can push for more adoption.

Get more people playing and the rest will sort itself out naturally, and probably quite quickly.

I think that the bots were the reason the difficulty was up very early on. Now that there aren't any maybe we do need 5 minute blocks or maybe 2 minute blocks. And when there are eventually enough miners and the target time gets to 1 minute the block time should be reduced back to 1 minute.

Then again there isn't really any point to doing that.

I'm just slightly disappointed, I've expected some rush like we had during the first week, but... Even that great wall of 500000 moto for 5 btc didn't help too much (whoever it was maybe you could set it again lol)

So, we should wait for difficulty stabilization now before moving to the next exchange. Ok.....

Next 2000 blocks will still run on lowest difficulty, we need more people mining.

Yup.  Can we put a note in thread title, and website?  Maybe even github readme.

At lowest difficulty and without hitting block frequency the only rational thing to do with the coin is mine it for coin bases.  The game has never been easier, and mining is significantly more consistently profitable (for days and days now) than pretty much any other coin.  You'd think people would be more interested in such "easy money."

What is particularly strange is that I've had several people who have been mining even tell me that the game is much more fun, balanced, and addictive now, too.  Astounding!

I said previously that we actually need bots operating to avoid precisely this sort of scenario.  Maybe we over-corrected when trying to "tune out" bots.

Price can't go up without demand, and demand can't occur without network security, and security relies on active miners.  Thus, price probably only goes down until hash rate goes up.

I'm still very "bullish" but for the first time in MOTO history, I am not actively accumulating right now, aside from mining whenever I can.  This is only because I rationally "just can't bring myself to" when I can't trust an incoming tx that isn't coin base without a loooooong time passing.

I'm on the fence about this.  Even 10 minute blocks aren't going to help when we have much longer stretches without any blocks as often as we do.

Right, the problem isn't the block interval, it is the abundance of time with no hashing going on at all.  No network parameters can be considered appropriate for effectively nil work being done.  The problem is not really solved until we have people playing around the clock.

Quote
Then again there isn't really any point to doing that.

Yes, it quickly devolves into a perverse sort of cat and mouse game, that no-one can really win from.  I think it is best to leave things as set, for the time being, and see what we can do through social means.

Anyone want to fire up a really good bot?  Now would be a great time for it!

Otherwise, if you want to help see Moto through to success the best thing anyone can be doing right now is mining, and/or getting others into mining.

I think we need to write something in op and website about the history of Motocoin, bots, new hardfork, etc. Currently information is spread around 67 pages which is not good.

EDIT: OP contained many outdated information, I fixed that.

Actually, the only thing that makes price go up is popularity.

I've noticed that on c-cex for example almost nobody knows about current situation with moto.

It would be really great if you put in order moto's website etc and then organize some advertising campaign like you did before. I can even donate some moto for this purpose.

Popularity and demand are the same.  You cannot be a popular coin if you cannot first function as a coin.

Tell them!  More importantly, reach out to any gaming communities that you might be involved in.  I think we might find a lot of interest if we start looking outside of the "altcoin scene"

Nice.  We might want to link to my blockexplorer with a note that it is something of an alpha test.

Maybe we should get an IRC going?  (Do we want on-chain chat?)

You should be able to peer with the block explorer node at 37.153.97.65.

Oops missed your post:
Edit: Well that approach didn't work. Sad

Ok I lied. I tried to double spend but I wasn't going to sell my moto, I just wanted to see if I could because I was bored. But when I connected back to the internet the blocks got rejected for some reason. And I also noticed c-cex needed 15 confirmations so I gave up. I didn't even send the coins to myself so it failed.

Just watch the top of getchains output and you can see if the chain is forking.  There haven't been any forks, so there hasn't been any double spend.
