More importantly, what the heck is happening to the coin price?

More importantly, what the heck is happening to the coin price? That's a reasonable question. The "S" word in your first post is uncalled for though. When we were on POW, our coin was VERY popular with Chinese mining farms and multipools. That was the cause of all our forking problems and that is also the cause of our instability at the moment. Those large farmers farm mined with no intention of holding. They farm and dump. That's their business model. Most of the large farmers are still selling off their coins. Once their coins are in the hands of the public, prices should stabilize. It may take a few days though. Until then, we can expects prices to rise and then sharply fall over and over again.

Is there any way - any data available via the block explorer perhaps - to figure out more precisely exactly when that cloud might fade away? The risk of massive miner dumps is precisely why many of us are avoiding pure POW coins and are interested in POS coins that offer a refuge from that bagholding risk.

Do I need to re-download the blockchain? yes. delete everything except wallet.dat (you don't need the conf file anymore) and re-download the blockchain

Before I go and delete some posts I've have made on this thread I want to set the record straight. After much work and help from pnosker and effects to cause We discovered during a mammouth 1 on 1 help session I was not using the down load 1.1 I thought I wasBut I wasn'tIf you R having wallet problems or haven't updated yet Go to http://www.vericoin.info/download and unzip, when the wallet window appears make sure the wallet you see has the 1.1 on it The patience, time and effort shown me by the Dev's of Vericoin is a Stellar example of how to run a crypto coin site My oversight, mistake , or lack of knowledge as in Newbie. I'm a Newbie. I hope I don't turn into a NOOB. NOOB's don't get better,. They don't learn. They make the same mistakes over and over and blame everyone else or the program or their dog for their lack of acumen My comments on this thread since the issuance of the 1.1 Update have been based on my screw-up. All I can do is offer an apology to the Dev's and the members of this thread I will be deleting all the posts relevant to my self inflicted difficulties with the VeriCoin wallet
