I downloaded the mac wallet and its not syncing. Searched the thread and saw the .conf fix but I don't have a Sync folder under Library>Application Support. Any ideas? Thanks in advance...

Others have reported the same issue.
Can you search your Mac's disk where the sync directory with the wallet.dat is located?
That is where the Sync.conf file must go.
Please report back, so we have the answer for other Mac users.

Wow. Okay for some reason my mac was 'hiding' the Library directory under the Username. I was in the wrong "Application Support". I'm such a noob. Anyways. Yeah, I found it. I created a .conf but I'm not sure I'm doing it right. Still not syncing.

NP! Windows has the same "feature" that you can't see some directories unless either you type the exact name to get in or unhide them.
Anyway - is the Mac case sensitive in file names?
I know that for Linux, the name must start with capital S: Sync.conf, because sync.conf is a different name and is not found by the wallet.

Okay. I figured it out.

I had to "unhide" the library for the User in order to find the Sync Directory.

I opened textedit and pasted the .conf from OP. This is where I had trouble...it kept crashing on startup.

What you have to do is open textedit, go to FORMAT and choose "Make Plain Text" (as opposed to .rtf). THEN you have to right-click, choose Get Info and change the extension to "Sync.conf" and uncheck "Hide Extension" because it was actually adding a hidden .rtf, .txt extension.

Once the file was Plain text and changed to .conf it opened and started syncing. Such a relief!

No, as long as we can verify that the coins are in your wallet, you'll receive profit-share. Do not have to have it on and staking all the time.

But at 50%, why wouldnt you?

The wallet keeps surprising me.
When I go into "Send Coins" and open Coin Control, I see 29 different inputs (which I expect)
and all are different size (which I also expect) but the smallest one is....  0.00 SYNC
That sounds like a bug in the wallet, to allow generation of a zero-sized input?
The wallet is staking normally and I seem to get the expected rewards so I do not want
to upset it too much, so this is more for info to the developer.

This could be a synchonisation problem, possibly the block chain on your computer is not correct and the wallet refuses to use it.
You can check if this is the case by removing the block chain and re-sync'ing.
- backup your wallet.dat onto a safe place and close the wallet
- go to the directory that has the sync files: Sync.conf, wallet.dat and the copy of the block chain.
  typically on Windows this is under your user directory \AppData\Roaming\sync
- delete everything (including subdirectories database and txleveldb) but except the files Sync.conf and wallet.dat
Now start the Qt wallet again and see it re-download all the blocks and rebuild the database.
Hopefully this time it will work and not give the same error.
Note that the balance in the wallet may vary while it re-downloads the block chain, do not be afraid, since the wallet is just a
User Interface into the block chain, using your private keys in the wallet.dat to find your transactions in the block chain and
display the balance *as far as it has seen the block chain* so with every transaction that it downloads, your balance will update.
