Nobody spilling the beans early.

***The XC Daily Update***

- XC is fast becoming the go-to project for gaining legitimacy. Dan will do a code review of Halycon Coin's tech in the very near future.

- Your previous comments or complaints were heard. Unlike previous code reviews, we're co-ordinating the PR for this, which means that the XC community can get in on this one.

- There will be a press release going out early next week about the code review.

- Dan continues finalising Rev 2. At present we're all on track for the deadline.

Good news Synechist and nice to know peoples views are being considered... You say we are on track.. What is the release date? I know 2 weeks was mentioned a few weeks back...

4 days back lol, but yea time feels faster in crypto world

Sometimes a day in here feels like a year especially if you follow the markets.

I'm personally a fan of the new approach of marketing XC's worth to the community.  I wish the benefits to XC users was planned initially but it's good to know it's going to be addressed from here on.  Always fun and interesting getting caught up in the XC thread.  As always I'm glad I hold some XC and hope the best for the whole XC team and community.   Cool

Licensing and marketing XC to other coins is fine. However the coin holders don't benefit. How about the XC team possibly work a deal with the other coin teams to have them buy XC coins which can then be distributed evenly to the XC coin holders as dividends ?

XC holders do benefit.  Every time another coin pays for Dan's professional review (proof of code), his reputation grows and solidifies as a / the leader in the altcoin space.  This helps XC's image, and boosts holder & market confidence in XC.

Although, for the very reason that Dan's services are directly correlated to XC's image, I would suggest that XC & Dan act wisely as to which coins they choose to help.

The updates addressed that they would work to make the updates more beneficial when future reviews are done.  Obviously based on the recent update the devs are listening to the points people have brought up in the past regarding this topic.  I think akula99 makes an interesting point but don't know how possible it would be to implement something like that.  I'm just a fan of a mutual and beneficial relationship when these collaborations take place and go public.  I don't think it was a bad idea to gain more credibility and respect from the community and this makes me bullish for the future of XC in the coming weeks and months.

Dan, for Xchat, have you considered implementing functions as some app:

Wiper: wipe the chat history as user required
Cyber Dust: similar to Snapchat, delete the content within a set time
Wickr: content can only read on a chosen device

Cheers!

Hopefully this is a new trend now, rather than small sell after small sell, we just see continual small purchasing.. There is hardly any resistance IMO up to 200k and we could soon see ourselves trading much higher and at a much more appropriate level if this happens...

I've used the vanitygen many times with other coins...
but this time it conflicts with the public key...

I guess we could use cryptogretsky's way with the paper wallet gen.

Actually....   This works...

vanitygen -X 75 XChat

and it's blazing fast even without using the opencl version since it doesn't work for me (R9 290)

yeah, of course it's fast...
I generated my xchat adress this way,
but when I imported this adres in my wallet and I asked my public key it gave me a public key witch was very long

it was even you cryptogretzky who said it didn't work Wink
I would like to test something...

I made myself a vanity adress for xchat
would someone please try to contact me over xchat?

adress: XCHATsLztdvJxb2BkrgVuoq7uoC73u6ghj
pubkey: Ro4rYufnJy7RYFnuJBaD1iz5Rrr8o77fyKbcnkAbqC57JCS148WVMabshBjHd1JsZGoJ2JZtj6LYtfP e8bavoY51

(I've noticed that my pub key is really long, that's why I want to test this)

If it works I'll explain it in a tutorial

Said Invalid destination public key

I do remember that test.  Didn't know you use vanitygen before.    The public key is extremely long too for me when I import the uncompressed private key.     When I import the compressed private key though, the public key I get back is normal....     of course that defeat the purpose of the vanity address since the search is based on uncompressed address.   So... ultimately, will need to modify the vanitygen to make it search based on compressed address instead of uncompressed address.

eg. make the following changes in pattern.c

len = EC_POINT_point2oct(pgroup,
             pubkey,
             POINT_CONVERSION_UNCOMPRESSED,
             eckey_buf,
             sizeof(eckey_buf),
             vxcp->vxc_bnctx);

to make it use POINT_CONVERSION_COMPRESSED instead.

Now... if only I can compile it....

Ok, I FINALLY got the vanitygen to compile and it also generated compressed address that you can get valid public key out of from the wallet... it's not really for the faint of heart to get it to compile properly on Windows....  total pain in the butt.   If someone needs to know how to compile it, I will see if I can reproduce the steps I took to get it to compile (most of the hassle was getting all the libraries that it needed to work)

Anyway, a few changes are needed to make it generate compressed address.   Luckily, I found a fork of the vanitygen that already has the compressed address changes that is needed.

The location of the github is here:

https://github.com/WyseNynja/vanitygen

To make it generate valid XC address using this, you will need to use the following command:

Code:
vanitygen -X 75 -F compressed Xwhatever

I didn't have a chance to compile oclvanitygen to test to see if it works since it won't really run with 13.xx drivers with my R9.   You might have better luck than me....

Please note that XC address is base58 encoded so you can't have O (capital O), I (capital i), 0 (zero), l (lowercase L) in your pattern.
No need to compile, you can download the complete set here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Vanitygen
