NEM Update

We've launched and things are slowly coming together. As you can see, we are working on multiple fronts and have finally finished our 1st NEM update after the launch.

We hope you will enjoy it and will help us move forward stronger and faster.

Progress and Utility of NEM

Thank you,
The NEM Team

Nice!!!  Grin

Looks like I can now start spending my XEM!  what website to go to first??? hahaha

I would prefer this payment processor:

https://www.coinpayments.net/

Then merchants could decide to accept NEM as payment.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

Hi, one question:

is it unsafe to do just local harvesting?

Cryptsy is the largest altcoin exchange.
If we want nem to be spread widely and grow big, enlisting nem on cryptsy is indispensible.
Besides ordinary vote, we can also do 'paid vote' there with Cryptsy Point.
(1 cryptsy Point = 5 votes)
If you have traded there, you have cryptsy point.
It is useless, please spend it for vote. Cheesy
(Of course, I spent all my 84 cryptsy Point just ago.)

Go, go, go: http://blog.nem.io/nem-community-challenge/

Hi, one question:

is it unsafe to do just local harvesting?
No, but then you can only harvest on your local node (=NIS). If you want to harvest on a remote NIS and turn your computer off while it keeps harvesting for you, you need to activate delegated harvesting, connect to a remote NIS and then start delegated harvesting. Please see here for more information: http://blog.nem.io/nem-tutorial-list/

I would prefer this payment processor:

https://www.coinpayments.net/

Then merchants could decide to accept NEM as payment.
Please feel free to contact them and ask for integration Smiley

When runMon.bat doesn't work;

Start runNCC.bat first. After a couple of minutes start runNIS.bat.

Last step; start runMon.bat.
This doesn't make sense, pease don't suggest anything, if you are not sure about it.

Generally: Please switch to the NEM forum http://forum.ournem.com for technical support. This thread is full of spam and it is a waste of time to follow all your concerns in here. We are glad to help you, but I think everybody who is seriously interested in the success of NEM doesn't want the NEM team to waste its time that much.

0.01 btc bounty to whoever will help me get this shit working without just sending me to official guide or w/e

It's not that hard. The only other person I know who had trouble like this was JL777.

Hi magicmexican.

Update Java 8
Go to http://bob.nem.ninja
Download nis-ncc-0.6.26.zip
Unzip
Double click on runMon

When runMon.bat doesn't work;

Start runNCC.bat first. After a couple of minutes start runNIS.bat.

Last step; start runMon.bat.

Hi Faith, that is interesting that you have to start runNcc and runNis first.  I can do it the way you said, but I can also do it on my computer by just double clicking runMon.  Not sure why that is.  But thanks for the heads up, it is good to know.

After I did these steps. I could launch runMon.bat and the Launch NEM Wallet.exe without problems.

The reason became clear to me when I started runNcc.bat, because right after that a pop-up appeared with two options; Allow connection / NotAllow connection. (I don't remember from which software this pop-up originated from, but it was not my firewall for sure. I think it was Java).

After I Allowed the connection, every other .bat or .exe file worked just fine.

Your answer must be here:
https://medium.com/@xtester/nem-newsletter-7-2014-10-21-5c78d69bbb12

Quote
The limitation of JavaScript only allows for less than around 9 Billion coins. After some deliberation it was then suggested that the total supply be 8,999,999,999 NEM coins and distributed in the same ratio as before (each stake being worth 1/4000 of the total supply). Therefore, each stake will be entitled to 2,249,999.99975 NEM coins.

1 NEMStake = 2,249,999.99975 XEM
it's being bumped up to 2.250.000 Wink

Yes. Each stake holder with a full stake will have 2,250,000.00 XEM waiting for them.

Just out of curiosity (since I don't intend to develop third party apps for NEM) but I take it that the issues with JavaScript not supporting numbers higher than 9 billion were resolved? Or is the total number still less than 9 billion coins with the extra 0.00025 NEM per stake being paid for out of the devs' pockets?

What is the recommended number of nodes, nis can support for delegated harvesting?
The default is 1, would 10 be fine?

We have already been in contact with them, but Coingateway seemed a better option. We are trying to find another solution for allowing merchants to accept NEM.

Its not that hard, but i still have no idea what was the problem.

I gave up trying and just moved the client to the another pc and it worked there.

So whatever the problem was, it could very well happen to someone else in the future. And as i've said before - the whole thing is about 10x more user unfriendly compared to btc or other alts.

Sure you can just label anyone who had/have problems with it retarded and lazy, but its probably not the most optimal approach.

For a program to work so easily on another computer means there is something wrong with the first computer or the user does not know how to work on that computer.

How is it possible if some nodes are behind NAT?

I am very surprised you would ask this type of question. It makes me believe something is very, very wrong here.
