Currently it is reading 1 gb of blocks from the db upon startup. We are working on improving the performance of this.

Allthough it does depend on the machine as well. It doesn't really take long for me.

The NEM beta blockchain has more than 1 million transactions inside (Nxt blockchain has about 680k transactions). Many transactions have a message attached which increases the size of the database too.
My node needs about 80 minutes to sync from scratch (with a not yet released version of NIS).

i wonder when all the buy orders on the AE will start market buying... iv been watching it this last week very closely and it seems all those market buys are new orders not taken from the buy side.. the buy side hasnt changed at all.. im surprised they havnt been pulled to take a chunk out of the wall.. perhaps just opportunistic orders in the hopes of a dump.. but a dump from who?... the market hasnt reacted at all in the way i expected.. the drop in volume i think anyone could see but the lack of movement on the buy side is odd...

Everyone is playing chicken with each other up until the deadline.

What deadline?

P.S. Just kidding of course Smiley

3,1 stakes left til 50.000 NXT/NEMSTAKE
8,1 stakes left till  100.000 NXT/NEMSTAKE

We shouldn't get to caught up in the price thinking. Don't forget that the price at the moment doesn't mean thing since there are only about 150 unclaimed NEMstakes out there while on the orderbook there is only 10.4 stakes currently being offered while 60 stakes are being asked for!

Price will come after the launch, no worries!!

providing that the 160 stakes left (according to coinmarketcap) dont end up in dumping sell orders, i think 50-70k nxt is a realistic target for the days up to launch.

That's a remarkable achievement. Congrats to all the devs and nemsters to reach 1 million transactions in the testnet itself. This speaks the awesomeness of our devs and their coding because the current beta 0.4.36 is quite stable than the previous versions that I have tested. Cheesy

I agree.  That is quite a big deal.  I am not sure how long it took Bitcoin to get to 1 million, but I think it took a long time.

My version of NEM has been working well too.  24-7 for almost two weeks.

Cross post from https://forum.nemcoin.com/general-discussion/open-letter-to-the-nem-devs/

Dear Devs: @Pat, @Gimre, @BloodyRookie, @Makoto, and @Jaguar,

Here are some of my thoughts.  Your job is a thankless one.  You work hard on a great idea.  Those that would support you, most often don’t (yet).  But those that will complain, gripe, and insult do.

snip

I am lucky because I lived in one of the poorest places in the world, a poor village in one of the poorest countries in Africa

very good & veery loong post Smiley
when u come from Africa u shud translate nem to some African language!
Big markets..

The problem is that there are sooooo many languages in Africa. The language I speak (or butcher) is called Southern Sotho and only has about 2 million speakers total.  It is a decent sized population but not a major one by any means. (In comparison the city I live in now has more than 2 million people)

To some extent most Africans learn a little bit of a Western language in school, mostly English, but it of course varies region by region.

aye, but that translation cud be port to Africa.
Some people who cant english, read ur Sotho and spread Nem with the languages that they can translate.
U cant lose Cheesy

It's not really that big of a deal. It would be if those were actuall trades but we're pre-launch so it's people running spambots and stuff. It's very cool that our network seems to be able to handle that kind of load but the mere existence of that amount isn't very remarkable Smiley

any stats on the average number of tx/per block or peak no of tx/block, longest number of blocks in row that have max number of tx in them etc? i think those are more important numbers than just x tx have been done in the beta and matter much much more too as they give a good insight into what the network should be able to handle after launch..

I'm sure bloody could pull such stats but from what i remember there were quite a few streaks where many adjacent blocks were completely filled with tx.

Is there a "best list" for poi competition?

you mean competition rankings? no not at the moment.. il post a the highest score soon.

soon?
u the best godtycoon Cheesy

u r using soooo much time to look AE markets, exchanges and other stuff that have no time 4 litle update. Unless its not accidental???
Wud competition info show some bad things? Poi isnt working. Premarkets will crash. Godtycoon lose money?

Bad Poi, Bad Boy, what you gonna do
what you gonna do when they come for you
Smiley

How its possible to have competition with no control.
Noway. Its fake compet.
Just beta testers for slavery. Slaves, only few tester get reward and even that can be manipulated with changing rules and other accounts in network. How manipulating network? Dont ask, i cant tell Smiley  its secret for gaming if Nem is launched. Its all there.
