Late to the game, but does anyone have some test nem available?

100,000 NEM is on the way.

Received!  Grin

Do NEM coins need to have a certain age prior to being able to harvest?

I think harvesting begins after 24 hours of coin age.

I sent the same to myself, no problems. Maybe you had a space character in one of the fields? Try sending some amount to yourself.

It's because I am a dumbass.  I didn't pay attention to the "password" field at the bottom.  Lips sealed

I sent an NEMstake for NXT address, now my name appears in the list of stakesholders in https://chain.nem.ninja/stakes/registered?

Then are good to go!  Your NEM will go to the address you registered upon the Nemesis.

Like seriously ... for the 0.1 Nemstake I have, and the 0.2 I might try & buy on Thursday when I get paid...  I've put in at least 10 hrs of work already.  Like 90 mins-2hrs about 6 times.

Has ANYONE on Mac OSX got this working?

I have a problem because the documentation thinks it solves the problem by saying - "in Java, set security permissions to medium"

But it requires Java 8 & in Java 8, minimum permission setting is High.  Adding the various websites involved to the trusted list makes no difference at all.  I can't seem to sync with the network.

Java problems mean I can't use stand-alone version, & webstart seems to work nicely - i get the splash page, can make a wallet, log into wallet, but them get a yellow bar saying "NIS requires to be booted. Please open your wallet and boot a local node via the popup dialog or configure the auto-boot setting".  From inside the wallet or from auto boot, I can just never seem to contact the network.  I've added nemcoin as a port forwarding/triggering thing & opened the 7890 (see separate thread: https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2676.msg9336#msg9336 ) - totally at the outer limits of my abilities here but the guys thought I'd done it right...

To be honest I'm not sure - maybe the problem isn't Java.  The main message I'm getting is Error 306 (when trying to boot a local node from inside the web wallet.  Can anyone tell me what that is?

Various people have spent their own time trying to help me, and I really appreciate it.  These are mainly devs/hero members who are on PCs and know how it SHOULD work.  It doesn't seem to though.  I'm not allowed to use the stand-alone version due to Java permissions lock-down, and the webstart version I can start NIS/NCC but when I try to boot a local node, either by auto-boot or from in the wallet - it never works...

instead of wasting the dev's time, is there anyone using a Mac who has actually managed to get their node sync'ed who can give me some pointers?

I'd be very grateful.  Thanks very much if anyone can help... & to the devs - please do make smoothing the Mac process a priority.  I know it's not the dev/hacker's tool of choice, but I bought this mac 2nd hand for music production, it does the job, i can't afford 2 computers & I'm sure I'm not the only one struggling with this...

Best wishes,

John    ps first post as nembot cos I got fed up of my crappy BTT name "yippee" ha ha

A lot of people are having problems with Mac.  I have gotten it to work on my Mac before but that was during the Alpha, not the Beta.  Since the Beta, I couldn't get it to work.

On my Windows machine though it is just a simple one click install.

Well..... At one point I did put Parallels on Mac, and then Windows on Parallels and that worked just fine with NEM.  I did that while I was travelling. I have since reformatted my Mac and have a clean install, so no more Windows in Mac.  I know that is a pain.

It must be possible for it to run on Mac because some people have it running on Linux.  I tried and failed at that too.  hahahaha

Now, I mainly just use windows on a desktop for NEM.

On my most recent try to get NEM on my Mac I couldn't get NEM to play nice with Java.  It sounds like you got a little farther than me so I don't have any tips.

This thread might be of some help to you.  Not sure if you saw it.

Thanks Jabo38... yes I started that thread!!!  Seems no-one here or there can actually get the client running and synchronised on Mac OSX.  Plenty of people who are on PCs trying to help me but no-one has actually told me they've managed themselves on Mac OSX, only on Windows or Linux distros.  I'm not Linux-competent unfortunately - i also don't have the know-how to do a dual boot into Windows without original disks, I have spent some time trying but was defeated, similarly tried with Virtual Machines but no joy- I'm just a bit of a disaster when it comes to hacking things & relatively new to Mac too, my old PC is fully dead though so no chance to use that.

Anyone managed to get things up & running on Mac OS?  Please let me know your tips!

Simply try the standalone version. All that's making problem on MAC is webstart.
Download http://bob.nem.ninja/nis-ncc-0.4.30.tgz . Should work like a charm even on OS X Smiley

This is a good idea for everyone that is having problems with stuff not starting or similar problems.

vote in favor of patmast3r for the Proof of Honor award - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855130.msg9514238#msg9514238
recognition that would be well deserved - with the side benefit of more positive attention for the entire NEM team.

i think its more how long you have been a member rather than how many posts, although i do think it plays a part..

more to the point though, i would say longer than the competition runs for.

That is incorrect. It is entirely the number of posts you make that determines your status. I think it is 50 posts for Jr. Member, 100 for Full Member, 250 for Senior Member, and 500 for Hero Member but I may be wrong about the exact numbers.

I have 3000+ posts but I'm only senior member.. And iv seen senior members with 200 posts but they joined early 2013. Probably a mix of both..

you can only gain a capped amount of activity per day/week. so getting to higher ranks takes time no matter how much you post

It is all explained here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177133.0

As far as I understand it, a person gets 1 point per post per day.  Points are awarded every two weeks.
