Teamviewer or RDP to a PC on the network.  Access the Ants from there.
Never had any experience with Teamviewer. Is there something that has to be installed on the S3?

teamviewer connects you to your pc in your house. as if you were sitting at it. so the answer is NO.

That's the problem, I'm going to be taking my laptop with me when I go out of town tomorrow.  One of the nice things about the Antminers is you don't have to have them connected to a computer.  Is there a way to access them without going through a PC on the network (like with RDP or Teamviewer)?

Try the cgminer PHP example have one ant pull the data from the rest. Have one port forwarded Port 80 or whatever you like. 80 is good if you want browser to immediately load it. Do not have any secure type options available. Just hashrate, what pool, and the like no changes. It will involve learning the API a bit.
If your not worried about security. On your router forward a different external port to port 80 on each antminer. The you can browse to your home ip then a colon the port number and connect to any of your ants. But id change the password on them ants first.

Well the B7 units we ordered (6) are all working just as they should. Very easy setup and the fact you can essentially clone the settings to other units makes it a snap when setting up multiple Antminer S3s.

QUESTION:

We have a few of these available for rent on rigrental websites - one of our units is seeing "Spikes" in Hashrate...

As in it normally hashes at speed - then suddenly the charts show a spike in hash - to the tune of 20-30 TeraHash (not a type-o). So the "average" rental hash ends up being insanely high... As in - it normally hashes at 460 ghash - then spikes to 40 thash - so on a 6 hour rental the average comes in around 5 or 6 terahash.

This is only happening on 1 of our 6 units.

Interesting though. Not sure yet if it's a chart glitch - or if in fact the unit is actually bursting to that speed for just a few seconds.

Anyways - good work BitMain!  Units are hashing just like they should! Smiley

Strato

PS. Before anyone freaks and is like how is that possible - I'll do some further tests - my gut says it's simply a chart error on the website.

If the figures are correct, then your rental is very good value Roll Eyes

My experience - consumption:

3x S3 (218,75MHz) - PSU Corsair RM1000 230V 1000W (12V/83A) - on the wall 1020-1035W, so if efficiency 88%, it means on DC side only 905W (+/-)

2x S3 (218,75MHz) - PSU FSP AURUM PRO 850 230V 850W (12V/70A) - on the wall 670-676W
2x S3 (237,5MHz) - PSU FSP AURUM PRO 850 230V 850W (12V/70A) - on the wall 740-745W

Hello, i have an s3 that is acting very weird.  the chip frequency disappears on some of the firmware flashes, and it will not hash.  the only time it hashes is with the firmware from 7/21/2014 and it hashes at a speed of 120gh/s tops.  anyone experience anything like this ?  is there an end-user fix...or is this an RMA candidate ?  thanks

(i will try and post pictures later)

After you flash, you need to manually set the freq. and save and restart the miner.

I purchased an S3 Batch 7 on Aug. 13th, still have not receive any info on shipping status. The site took down the info, but it said shipping before or on Aug. 20. I have sent an email to Bitmain, and their reply was to wait for shipping info. That was a week ago. Does anyone know what the status of Batch 7 is? How are they to say they'll ship batch 8 before Sept 20, if they havent completed the orders of batch 7?
Is anyone else experiencing a delay?

I have heard from a friend thier Batch 7 has shipped. If you have it shipped via UPS go to thier website click on tracking tab then select track by reference number. Enter your order number you can then find if they have printed the label.

Consider your position in the purchase queue.

Batches can take a few days to get completely shipped out.

Batch 8 is still almost a month away.

Don't panic as I am stipulating but if you purchased too late for B7 (like me) you may need to wait for the next batch (Cool.

I missed B7 because they were updating their site as I was making a purchase (lol twice now); I believe there was a price drop since too.

Bitmain tends to do that, allow overselling of a batch knowing they can fulfill it on next batch and deal with complaints with quick short answers.

I think it's safe to say that you might need to wait for next batch shipping.

Are these still a good idea to buy? Mining is bleak with the difficulty rises and the lack of price gain.

THat is a personal question i would say yes you can still break even and make a small profit on these By first of next yr. But you do come into the issue of how much you pay for power. Do you have aqueduct cooling in your home. If you well and my opinion your roi decision shouldn't be based on btc to usd. It should be based on BTC cost of miner versus btc mined by miner.
Its like investing in the stock market thier are no garantees. You could join a pool on a badluck streak and then switch and hit another with bad luck streak. You could hit a pool with good luck. and make more than the calculators say.
If you are hedging you will profit with the miner only if btc increases in price why not just buy the btc and hold and then sell when it goes up.
I have free power so i have some wiggle room on how long i can run a miner.

I woke up this morning to a cold quiet house. All S3s had stopped mining.

I can see they temporarily went to both back up pools in succession but they didn't stay there long. Internet was up but they wouldn’t start hashing after several reboots and  switching pools around.

All other devices including my desktop which is wired to the router (same as s3s) were connected to the internet and working fine.

I then rebooted the modem, router and then the S3s and they started hashing. I saw something earlier about not having the same order for the pools but that just seems like voodoo (no offense).

Does anyone know why this would happen?

Is the desktop using the same DNS servers as the S3s?

I see the value of Bitcoin, so I don't worry about the price...
