How long (roughly) will the PoW/Pos phase, when it can be mined as well, on DarkSilk be?
The first 420001 blocks of the DarkSilk blockchain will be able to be mined however after block 43 coins will mature and people will stake (or maybe not) and this will produce mined PoS blocks which also go towards the total 420001. With this information your welcome to sit and do the math but currently I am busy sitting testing the wallet.

42000 blocks for the pow phase on silk dark. This will start once we are complete testnet.

I believe this is something to be discussed.

The latter seems to make more sense, but I still don't get why you're having a PoW phase and not doing a straight swap to be honest. I know, I know sand and scorpians and 42 etc. but it'd be a reward to the people who've held tight to have the value increased by people buying Silk/DarkSilk. Instead that money, instead of coming direcly into the Silk economy, goes to electricity companies and the number of coins is increased dramatically.

Options:
1. Swap out from SILK to DRKSLK forever. 2. Swap out from SILK to DRKSLK at staggered swap periods. 3. Completely replace SILK with DRKSLK and let current holders swap SILK for DRKSLK. 4. Run DRKSLK as an entirely new coin with the only connection to SILK being through the Weaver.
I am sure the community can think of more.
At no point however do I believe that DRKSLK should run the risk of being devalued because of either the history or current state of SILK. This coin is far superior in every way.
Also I am the developer. Not the decision maker for the community. You guys need to come to your own consensus.
Also code is code, review is exactly that, review. PoW doesn't have to be 420001 blocks. PoS interest doesn't have to be 4.2%. Nothing is set in stone UNTIL WE LAUNCH and even then the stone can be re-cut.

Instead that money, instead of coming direcly into the Silk economy, goes to electricity companies and the number of coins is increased dramatically. basically idea was. miners set the price. weaver starts at block 42001 when pow ends. silkcoin users have options once weaver starts. if silkcoin price is lower then darksilk use current silk held, or buy silk swap and dump, swap and pos, swap and setup stormnodes after that all new darksilk coins minted come from pos or stormnodes as the entire silkcoin supply is already included in darksilk. - the weaver runs continuous until the premine wallet is completely depleted. darksilk users have the same options of course except with the added pow option for first 42k blocks and of course buying darksilk on exchange.

Anyone who has cloned the repo and is testing the DarkSilk wallet must rebuild and clear out all files in their hidden .darksilk folder, except their conf file.
Changes have been made.

BTW if you are running Windows and want to try the wallet:
Download the Ubuntu 15.04 iso image.
Download and install Oracle VirtualBox
Create a virtual machine using VirtualBox and use the Ubuntu iso image.
Once running simply follow the ReadMe for DarkSilk.
Here is a conf file so people can connect:
rpcuser="enter anything as a username" rpcpassword="enter anything for a password" rpcport=31500 server=1 listen=1 daemon=1 testnet=0 addnode=74.5.128.205 addnode=66.18.250.12 addnode=81.98.168.158

Swap SILK to DRKSLK forever creates a nice dynamic. Two stacked coins, one for large scale usability the other to be 'held' as an investment opportunity. DRKSLK will act as surety for SILK investors i.e. a risk buffer. Any other option and you throw this away preferring one above the other. Even with staggered swap periods you give preference to DRKSLK. Swapping should be seamless and continuous, SILK would be the first binary coinsystem.

I believe a constant swapout via an online system (Weaver) that anyone can view and use, with a 1-5% reduction on cost compared to the current market/exchange price at point of swapout would be a good option. To offer the reduction of 1-5% I believe a mining pool would be the best option to run alongside the Weaver and maybe even a share type system as well so users can invest (further down the road).
