Was looking through old pictures trying to find some of my old GPU pics.  Did not find it but found my setup of black asic miner block erupters

This is one of the two main ones I had during the time.  One was black and the others were blues for some reason I was really into mining with the same color sticks back then.

Yeah I had a bunch of these in hubs back in the 2013 days. I really miss the ease of only having to set up a few hubs. No worries about power consumption or heat. The modern ASIC race and the power requirements make me yearn for the good old days before the insanity that is the ASIC mining of 2015.

Figured I'd also chime in with a GPU pic for the hell of it. This is the majority of my ETH mining setup. I have another 9 GPUs mining not pictured here.

Top rig is 7 cards on 1 motherboard, middle is 6 cards on 1 motherboard, and bottom is 7 cards on 1 motherboard. Each rig is running Win 8.1 64bit, with 1 Seasonic 750w ATX PSU per motherboard which powers all PC components + 2 GPUs per rig. The rest of the cards are all running off of 2 2000w server PSUs, and fed 240v through a 30A PDU which is mounted to the rack. That means I only have 1 10AWG cable and 1 ethernet cable connected to the setup, allowing it to be moved around easily when needed.

Sorry for the potato quality picture. If there's any interest, I'll go take a picture of it with a proper camera.

Edit: Ohhhh, look at me! Looks like I'm legendary now! *cracks a Heineken*

Its looking pretty good Smiley
The powerbill have to suck though ? I once ran around 60 x 280x cards during my Darkcoin mining operation, and that was a long time before leaked bins and shit. Never doing anything crazy like that again without free electricity. Right now i run 14x750Ti and 2x980 cards at my home and they pull around 1250w from the wall.

Anyway, now i get really nostalgic.
Here are some old builds of mine:

I got a Bitseed v2 w/250gh hd version as a 'bitcoin node'. You likely 'could' build your own with a pi for 80 bucks less, but I was lazy it works good. IF nothing
else read their weekly blog they have a summary of the weekly IRC chat of the bitcoin core devs. I don't understand it at all but fun to read.

Very nice use of your basement, how many TH do you have running?  I like the duct work, does it exhaust the heat up to the outside, or ?

Probably heats your floor up nice in the winter, too.  Smiley

I have 55th/s.  a couple run open and keep the basement warm;  6 run into the return line of the furnace and I keep the fan running all the time and the rest I have vented out the basement windows.

Im at .13 per kwh as well. I love the new sticks but cant really afford to make a farm with them, I do have gear to trade for usb sticks though. I could possibly do a farm with the cheaper used sticks like bitfury, antminer and be sticks but I have to find someone selling first.

Anyone use duct hose to expel the heat from multiple S1-S2-S4-S5-S7 miners out a window?
Looking for pictures/ideas. I know there must be someone that has done it.

suck better than blow ?

Actually thinking about the same thing and will be heading to lowes tomorrow afternoon. I'll post an update when I get started.

This is what I'm thinking. Lining up all the Sx's in a row, side by side and just cut a hole in the side of the duct host and put the miner output right in there. With a push from a small fan it should direct all the air flow right out or where I want it. Sorry for the terrible representation. Basically just need one long hose and some cheap thermal tape to close the gaps. Don't really care what it looks like.

I think you might want to position the fan directly adjacent to the window. As your diagram current shows, if there is any kind of blockage at the window, the FAN st the end of the duct will be "pushing" against the miner's exhaust. You really want the fan to "suck" the warm air out of the duct, rather than pushing cooler air into it. Where the fan is currently shown, you could close it off, so that the air would have to flow through the miners to get exhausted.

Good suggestion. Have yet to try it, but good idea. A good enough fan to create some air pressure sucking out is good for hotter days. Colder days can just reverse and get some heat inside.

Just for this room there are only 6 rigs. So I just lined them up perpendicular to the window (hot air just blowing out) then used some pieces of cardboard on the left/right sides to direct air flow right to window. That worked well. And I'm using much quieter Noctua fans, and not those Jet Blasters as I call them. ( those loud stock S5 and S7 fans). Temps were good. I did notice when I did my candle smoke test on how much hot air spews out of the tops of these. A stiff long piece of cardboard right over all the tops extending right out to the window screen. Temps dropped 1-2 degrees just doing that. I just wish my stupid ass did this during the summer, but I was so busy doing other things never got the chance. If I need heat, all I need to do is flip the fans. To me that's easier then reversing the miner itself. These are just my test/home ones, others are offsite. Just re-arranging a little makes so much difference. And cost nothing.

Yes, all of my miners shown (11) right now.  I had 3 overheat when the internet went out and I have shipped them back to Bitmain.  I am waiting for their return.
I had 26 S5's before and sold them all to get the S7's at the end of September.

Electric is about 25% of my total cost per month.  That comes out to be about $3700 per month with a $1000 electric bill.
I have maxed out my electric power and will be installing 20 S7's (11 in the pic and 7 more on order) in a data center in mid December.  I will show pictures when I get them set up in a 42U Cabinet.

Well, Here goes....the front of my basement mining operation:

Very nice use of your basement, how many TH do you have running?  I like the duct work, does it exhaust the heat up to the outside, or ?

Probably heats your floor up nice in the winter, too.  Smiley

I have 55th/s.  a couple run open and keep the basement warm;  6 run into the return line of the furnace and I keep the fan running all the time and the rest I have vented out the basement windows.

just a note on elec rates under xcel in Minnesota I called them up my rate went down from 13.5c kwh to 12.3c kwh (did not notice this last year only had a knc 550 jupiter....now with 2 titans i noticed)

So they said yeah winter rate (looking at back of bill) so I was informed was correct. Told to look at back of bill (or sep piece of paper i can't remember) and while I'm looking at that the xcel rep goes WOW your elec went up 220 bucks ave over last year or so ...I'm mumbling to self and say 'yeah got server equip in basement (titan scrypt miners did not figure she'd have any idea wtf I was talking about) and had to cool them in the summer (if xcel wants to think the elec this summer was for a/c so be it .used shutter fans basement) and now I said I have to keep the basement a temp for the servers at 70F thus the extra heat (back of my mind I'm being cagey maybe they'd not like 2500 watts plus on my 'modern panel' but only 100 amp service

so still looking at bill and on the back she i see 9.5c or 10c kwh for electric heating in winter I'm like damn at the same time more or less she goes ...so is 'electric heat' now your primary mode of heat instead of gas this winter..i had to let that sink in for a bit.....er yeah sure i said

she said good i've forwarded it up the line with a tag for you getting the elec heat rate (if the xcel rep can't figure out i'm heating the house with 'server heat" who am I to tell them Smiley

So I do do I have to get inspected..she goes probably not from your bill increase....so I'm hoping that someone will simply look at my frigging 220 buck over the top bill and go 'yep elec heat rate and rubber stamp it" and viola 4 months at 9.5c or 10c kwh ..big drop from before winter 13.5c kwh

If they want to inspect I'll let them come over worse that can happen is 1) nice try but no..they can't say i'm lying about elec being the way i'm mostly heating my house...aside from the fact that using bitcoin miners besides space heaters is a no/no ..hey i an't lying said i had 'equip"

or 2) they will look and go yep 70F in basement ......sees server equipment ..golden

again hoping for a rubber stamp from a rep looking at my bill elec use..but again I did not tag this for consideration the xcel rep did...so hell I'll see how it goes

I'll let you know on here or if not PM me sometime I should know probably by the next bill arrival which I figure for the end or dec sometime say dec 20th

anyway for your consideration with the stuff you or others on here are using in basement and winter....heh .....if the nice lady at xcel wants to help me with my 'server equipment'
and tag such who am I to complain...it is not like I brought it up Smiley

and the miners go poof I just call them next winter say and say my gas is now my primary heat and servers are gone Smiley

heh also got a bill my gas bill on budget is also down 35 bucks a month this year Smiley LTC price is going up Smiley LTC difficulty is tanking Smiley My KNC Titan Scrypt miners are kicking ass
and hell btc price up to for my hoard ....all is well (its a trap!)

let the good times roll Smiley Anyway folk in the same situation (or xcel ) should ponder how to approach this w/o toggling the actual inspection..it should not be too hard
by god I am using electric for my primary way to make heat ..that was the question and it is the truthful answer!

anyway just a tip I'll let you know if it works or i have an inspection and a grin from the guy with a 'nice try' Smiley Worst that can happen is my elec rates for winter stay at the
revised 12.3c kwh vs the 13.5c kwh normal rate under xcel

anyway hope it helps
