Dependent where you need it. I think Fukushima will be cheaper than other places this days.

I also have two of those 1500W supplies, and they are kick ass! Single/multi rail in one, load meter, nice quality cabling... I like using them to measure wattage draws on cards in real time, then I'll swap over to smaller PSUs when I feel everything is in safe running conditions. My only complaint is it's loud and you can hear the APFC clicks a lot when running 1200W of water cooled GPUs. Loudest thing in the build, by far  Cheesy

Are you running all 6 of those 280x's on one. I know it'll do it on 220, but I never really thought it would run all 6 at full throttle.

I agree, I had 4 280x running on the EVGA plus the CPU (Core i7 4930K) and the rest and it was hitting about 1400W... Maaaan that was loud! And yes it was the loudest thing in the setup. The fan does a good job to keep the PSU cool though. I have another 1600W PSU I got from CryptX made in Holland, the brand is Recom... It was about €150 a steal! So I had the other 2 280x running on that + some other Asic for BTC. I doubt you'll be able to run 6 280x cards on the EVGA if you want to leave 20% of the power to keep the PSU healthy. Still the EVGA is a great PSU would recommend to anyone who needs reliable power for their gaming RIG.

my little Scrypt-Rig

1x Gigabyte HD7950
2x HIS HD7950 iceQ Turbo
ASRock Extreme4 970 Mainboard
AMD Sempron 145 CPU
4GB DDR3 Ram
30GB Seagate S-ATA 7200 HDD
TP Link USB WLan
1000w LC1000 V2.3 Legion X2 PSU
Windows 7 x64

1,96kh/s @ 820w form the Wall

Could you post the link where you got your 1x to 16x risers from? I know of some people that keep running into faulty ones.

hi,

i bought them in a private thread here
https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=9605.0 (risky seller!! - when you have much time, you can buy them there)

then i got some here:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/400637555902

and here:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/281232504403

but they have a molex-connector AND get power from the mainboard
so i used this guide to cut the mainboard-connection

I love this thread, for the old gpu-times sake, I'll post what I'm onto right now:

It's going to be an altcoin rig with GPUs (2x 7950 for the time being). It's not finished, but it will have a nice air circulation (there are some plates missing for leading the airflow in the right direction). More to come  Cool

New version of our prototype rig. Still missing 6 cards, waiting to receive the risers.
The rig is delivering 11.6 MH/s in scrypt. Linux + custom monitoring scripts.

An Antminer and Bitfury system running on a 835W server PSU. Not seen in the picture is 2 more antminers, for a total hashrate over 1TH/s

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

Nice one! Takes the crown for 'highest scrypt hashrate in a single rig' !
Very nice and clean design.
What PSUs did you use, how much power does it pull at the wall?

Thanks! This is a z77a-GD65 board, so I may try adding a 7th card for the hell of it. I've got 16 more on the way already. 6mh/s, from one rig? Have to try  Cheesy

I have a pair of EVGA supplies under this one, a 1300G2 and a 1000G2. The 1300 runs the board, riser cables, and three cards, and the second 1000W runs three cards and a SSD. I'm not exactly sure of power draw yet, but I'm sure it's brutal.

I guess 290's have to use signed bioses, or at least they did? Seems someone may have found a way to load voltmodded bioses to 290's, certainly keeping an eye on that thread  Grin

I plan on either buying a kill-o-watt on my way home from work, or swapping in one of the 1500W evga supplies I have with the built in load meter if I can't find a kill-o-watt. I'd rather not mess with that, since the "supernova" software only runs on windows...

So they are running at stock voltage? Not bad. Any overclocking done?

Btw, you seem to have about 10% rejected shares. Anything over 2-3% is way too much imho.
You might want to look for the reasons for that, it is a bit of a waste...

Yes, stock voltage. These are running 995/1500, w/ 20% powertune. Pretty stock settings everywhere else, TC32765 I want to say?

It's a beta multipool (why I edited out so much of the pool details) between the high pool diff and constant switching I think I'm loosing a lot more than I need to. The payouts seem to compensate though, so we shall see if I let that continue. I get much closer to 1% on the pool I usually mine at, though I only let it go for 2-3 hours like that last night.

It seems like everyone uses 1x to 16x risers, even if its plugged in to a 16x slot.  Should I expect any issues with my GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P if I use the USB powered risers here http://www.magicgrowing.com/bitcoin-mining/pci-e-powered-riser-card-100cm-40-usb-cable/   ?  I only have a 7970 and an R9 270 right now, just looking to open it up some more.

Got my rig mostly setup, all housed in a homemade rack inside of a closet.  I have 4 more servers coming, the rig generates a decent amount of CPU currency (Primecoin).  I average .077CH/D per server running Xolominer.  Total of 9 servers at the moment.
Each sever is configured with
-Dual L5420s
-4GB of RAM
-Flash Drives for Boot
Should also note that the cooling setup lowered temperatures about 10-15C, down to 66C. In addition, cut the noise to a tolerable level.

Was looking at investing in liquid cooling and reducing the number of fans for these, but the air cooling seems to do the trick quite well.  Thinking about adding graphics cards to these machines... Can't really decide.

6 290's, XFX "black edition" cards  Grin
OMG someone finally gets it. Vertically mounted blower fans. I've been saying for a while this would be the absolute ideal fan-direction orientation.

BTW, I don't know how you'd do this and still mount them like you have, but when we took the PCI brackets off of our 290s, there was a significant temp decrease. It was about a 8C drop on our hottest card. You could hear and feel more air move out the back. I got a picture here:

What kinda settings do you use for 875? The best I could get was 850. And what's this about undervolting? Please link the thread?

Thanks! And kudos to the awesome rig!
