First post. Don't hate. This isn't super scalable but its an idea I came up with and im trying to see if I want to pull the trigger and make it. let me know what you think. CRITICS welcome. Thanks. Limitations & Constraints:Garage environment with very limited floor space. window for exhaust, Separate window for inlet CANNOT HEAT THE GARAGE whatsoever. CANNOT LEAVE DOOR OPEN Must filter air Goals: Divide all air so that no video card is getting air that has been heated by other components. Reasonable airflow for low noise 100% filtered, Positive pressure Basic concept: __________________ |-----Exhaust------| |---------8 Cards--| |_______\________| |- 8 Cards--\------| |__________\_____| |----------/-------| |-- FAN--/--FAN---| |________________| |---AIR FILTERS---| |________________| Air starts at the bottom, Passes through the fans. It is then segregated, One fan feeds the lower most cards, The other fan feeds the upper most cards. The air is continued to be segregated until the top rack where the top cards exhaust their heat. The air is then piped out of a window. Pictures:!:!!: ! E@ E!@ f adgfasdf;lja my 2c: go with 12 cards instead of 16. you can get 6 per mobo with windows 8, thus eliminating the need for two mobo/ram/cpu/hdd assmeblies, simplifying the control/monitoring, and allow all 12 cards to fit on a single shelf. ps: dont forget to consider monitor placement for WHEN you need direct access

Having fans push through multiple sections will really reduce the flow rate more than you probably expect. If you are going for mid-range GPU (R9 270 or 280) i'd suggest you use the higher end cards (R9 290) so that you can have fewer motherboards/CPU/RAM/risers which saves money and hastens ROI. My suggestion for air-flow would be to have 2 shelves of miners with fans and filters on the left side of each level. The air flow would pass across the shelf to the right and exhaust at the same shelf level. You may need to combine the two hot airflows as you don't really show how your vents will connect to the outside world. If you fan-force this setup then you will need a substantial opening in the garage to allow the pressure to equalize, ie. leave a window open. Although some sheds are poorly sealed anyway especially around the roofspace depending how it was constructed. Also re the above comment you can also get windows 7 to work with 6 (or more) cards using modded drivers, it takes some messing around: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=11761.0

I actually already have 4 rigs each with 4 cards. Two rigs are 1200w 280x rigs, One rig is an 850w 270x rig, One rig is 1000w 2x270x and 2x280x. I have them in normal rigs where all 4 cards are parallel to each other with normal risers. Fans blowing through the cards. But temps are difficult to keep under 75 with this setup. I would prefer my gpu fans not spin ridiculously fast 24/7. Each shelf will have hole saw holes drilled into it in the same shape as the fans on the card. The video cards will face downward so that the only air sucking into the cards are cool air from the fans below. no recirculating air from the video cards exhaust. I will also have slots cut to allow cool air to pass over the mobo and power supply so they do not heat soak. The clear separations in the image i posted divide the airflow between the two shelves. Also, Regarding the bolded text about combining the airflow and exhausting the air. the air combines at the top shelf. cold air is isolated till it reaches the cards on the top shelf then both mix and exhaust together. It will be directly exhausted out a window. There will be either 1 fan or 2 fans in the window. the intake will be from another opened window on the other side of the garage.

It all depends if anything is gpu profitable with asics abroad. doing a 24 hr test, see what I get in return, multiply that by 30 days, with 400w being used. Hopefully it turns out good.

Wow those are some sick setups! I'm hoping to get somewhere even close to those monster racks soon too!

You should consider getting those blades onto a proper ATX psu imo. Those bambuu PSU's from china are really not very efficient.

My Dogecoin Station I saw that, and that's why got me to put my little one up... very nice. Can I ask where you got the USB hub that has ATX in and a switch? About the power supply, I'm switching over to an ATX power supply once I get the adaptors...

Finally put it in the rack. Not the greatest wiring job since I was in a rush. Started to wire it up: All wired up (missing one miner). Back side: Observations: Could have made the case longer and still fit in the rack. A longer case would be about enough room for 10 miners with fans on each row. 40 miners total. Each power supply is more than enough to power 10 miners dual mining and one 10 port USB hub. Case has enough room to fit 5 power supplies and about 5 USB hubs. I will not be building this up further as newer (much) more powerful rack mountable scrypt miners are soon to be released. These 5 chip gridseed miners are too much of a pain to wire up and rack.

About the power supply, I'm switching over to an ATX power supply once I get the adaptors... Hello, That orange USB Hub is one of the best ones out there! A block-erupter hub is not coming close to the quality of this one. I got this one from eyeboot.com Deeplink here. I only use this hub`s for my projects, For example the block-erupter hubs use give me a lot of problems whit stability, or just died within weeks due to bad components Check this picture "loaded whit miners of 1.2 Amp each", no other (still affordable) usb-hub stays stable whit that kind of load. Hope your question get answered here.

A barrel plug version would be good too but haven't seen a version that has that.
