I did notice the lack of pictures of small miners in this thread, it means that mining is really turning to be a corporate professional task since the introduce of ASICs.
How's this for small:  It runs much cooler than the old 65nm BFL hardware I'm going to finally retire after the cold winter months are done with, and without all the hardware errors I had on the BFL --- this is stable at 107-119 GH/s mostly, even when I'm playing flappy bird... Most of what I've been doing has been OS / rom hacks and stuff like removing the bamc it came with and clearing out to make room for more games and other non-mining stuff. |

A simple link to your thread would have been cool but what a lot of people on this thread would love to hear about are the details like how are you handling heat extraction, whats your power distribution look like. How many Killawatts are your burning!Whats the heat like in a room full of miners like that. Is it deafingly load?

I've edited the post to point to our ANN thread. Sorry again. You might want to have a look as there are some pictures of our 'Super Jupiter' kit on the ANN thread which are in the background of the Neptunes (I won't repeat here as it's 'old' kit and perhaps not that interesting. I've texted the engineers to get the latest stats for you, and I'll come back with some details as soon as they tell me. Current powerload is around 1/4 megawatt from memory for megamine.com (with the same again coming soon), and we use all natural cooling due to our location (60km south of the Arctic Circle). The facility is run by our sister company Hydro66 ( www.hydro66.com) and we are just one of their customers so I'll see if one of the guys from Hydro can pop in and tell you some of the details of the facility, but essentially they just take cold air from the outside, clean and purify it, sort out the humidity, run it over the kit, and then our miners face a 'hot asile' where the heat is extracted straight upwards and out the roof. They are building a new facility just over the road from us which will be 10MW initially and scales to 120MW...... We don't have 'hot asile' containment because interestingly the engineers usually complain about being cold - ambients even at the end of summer outside are around 10-13C so having the air moving naturally at quite a few m/s means it feels permanently chilly and they tend to wander around in fleeces and coats  J |

Hi Hurricandave - Andy from Hydro66 here. As joust mentioned it's all free air cooling. We have a very large (filtered) air inlet in the building side and then exhaust the hot air through the roof. We have some chunky fans for the height of summer too (although we just had the warmest summer in 100 years and they didn't even break sweat). The rest of the year the inlet temp is more than cold enough. We're in the same part of the world (slightly further north) as Facebook's $1bn datacentre in Luleä. We can support a few MW in our current facility. We'll be announcing something much bigger in the next few weeks. Surprisingly enough the noise level in the DC is pretty quiet - you can easily have a conversation at normal speaking volume. Standing right next to the rigs you can feel some radiant heat - perhaps like a warm sunny day, but a few feet back and you are back at ambient. |

Arctic and Joust, Thanks for the additional input its really appreciated on this thread.
smracer has quite a few of those Neptunes as well and said he's using a 15,000 cfm upblast fan to remove the hot air from his operation. I would imagine even in the arctic you guys are moving quite a bit of air as well.

Pictures of my "mining-rig". Not as big as yours but.....  I see you have the Corsair 750M for 2 S3. I do have the Corsair CX600M with 2 PCI-e (on 1 cable) for 1 S3. Question: Are your cables "hot" ?? I noticed that mine get pretty warm just with 1 S3 hooked up to it. NO OC! Just wondering ... |

Kinda. There is a voltage drop going on with undersized cables, which causes the miner to pull more current to compensate which heats things up more. Don't try running two miners off one cable. C |
