I guess Steven and Kracko are no longer interested in UTC and indeed, they are disappearing slowly in to the background and then disappear totally. As Beave162 explained, Steven is not the owner or ceo of UTC. So Beave162 is right. If there could be some serious and professional people interested in taking over the lead of UTC and start a new UTC Dev-Team with a new Dev-Team Leader, a (Coin) Lead-Developer, a Pool Operator and PR team leader, then UTC could have a fresh restart and gets probably a sunny future again. It is still possible It is a good coin and everthing is there to go up again ! There is a community and investors and bag holders. And there is a website, an forum and an FB and twitter account. Also is there still one exchange where the coin is on..... I can only wish that Steven wants to cooperate and is ready to give his authority 100% over to a new Dev-Team (if people are interested in that job). I want to believe that Steven puts the future of UTC and the interest of all UTC community members, investors and bag holders above his own personal interest as PR and managing director job (in which he is absent for months now) and is 100% willing to release his authority and is willing also to relase the website account, the forum account and the Facebook and Twitter account and transfer all these accounts and logins to a new dev team (if people are interested in that job). I know that Steven and Kracko are both UTC bag holders so it is also in their own interests that a new fresh and motivated Dev-Team starts and brings UTC to new heights in the crypt world. @STEVEN : Please give us an important news update or react on the above idea of searching and forming a fresh and new Dev-Team !?You know rapture is not the CEO of the UTC company.
I know this is a crazy idea...
Someone could step up and be a leader. Create another website, restart a new thread, take charge and get that broken wallet fixed.
I know that is crazy-talk... Or you could just simply move on to a different coin.
Is the *decentralized* concept that drove crypto in the beginning completely dead?

great concept! Plead with people to buy into Ultracoin spending all their hard earned income on it ($20k in my case )and once they have sit back and do nothing and watch their investment turn into pennies. You are dealing with a new global currency here not a 2 hours a month hobby! If you cant do the job why did you oust Bumface?

We are now 48 hour later after the post of marnie1976 and there is stil no reaction from Rapture/Steven Is Rapture/Steven dead or does he have no respect for the UTC community and investors and is hidding or keeping silence Steven be a real leader and stand up and inform us !!!! UltraCoin price is spiking right now.
Even with the broken difficulty, UTC is better off without Rapture or Kracko coming in and ruining things more. Those two are completely and utterly incompetent.
Perhaps, you should be praying that they stay away for good!

Someone bought £100 worth. Wouldn't look much into it. Seems to have bottomed out so people are investing thinking they are buying at the bottom.
Steven if you are quiting at least have the courage/balls to tell us rather then just walking out on us leaving UTC in the lurch.
UTCwas around the 15-20 altcoins, one of the first of the second wave after the first wave of namecoin, peercoin, doge etc. It has stature and many investors hold a bit of UTC! It's a sleeping giant!

I was just looking at the latest (current) retarget changes on github and I believe I found the issue with the retarget.
Firstly, there's
static const int64 nMaxAdjustDownV5 = 16; // 16% adjustment down static const int64 nMaxAdjustUpV5 = 12; // 12% adjustment up
which means the diff can change as much as 16% down and 12% up which would be fine (I guess) but one problem is that this 16%/12% retarget happens every single block and it's always the maximum amount of change as far as I can see, not small changes.
Second problem is that once it overshots the difficulty and the blockchain stalls for like half a day and then finally a block is found, the difficulty won't decrease right away.
If I had to guess it's caused by this:
static const int64 nAveragingInterval5 = 240; // 240 blocks, 4 hours
which I'd guess means the difficulty average is based on the last 240 blocks meaning a bunch of super high (or super low) difficulty blocks has to be mined before the difficulty retarget starts adjusting - and when it does it overcompensates.
I might be completely wrong but I believe if the difficulty retarget wouldn't happen every single block, but maybe every 10 blocks or so then everything should be fine. Thoughts?

Get someone who unlike me actually knows what he's doing to confirm;
Convince/pay said someone to help create a fork with the proposition of changing the difficutly retarget at block X;
Compile wallets and distribute them before we hit block X.
