miners on burstcoin US pool, please restart your miner after block 17160 (if ur miner does not have auto resolve dns)
new Pool IP will be 23.227.167.164 , domain name will be same http://pool.burstcoin.io or http://burst-pool.cryptoport.io  (you might need to flush your dns cache)
i moved pool to new hosting, and i reduced pool fee from 2.5% to 1.5%, so better profit for miners
and pool running cost is reduced 4x cheaper, so BCPT holder would get better profit too
new host hardware is cheaper but faster, so will see performance improvement there

EU and SG pool also will follow the hosting migration, it might take a while because new hosting deployment is a bit complicated

on my both machine connected to the us pool the two latest blago miners instanly crashes.
Old java miner still works.

Yes i did. also changes the dns server, tried to user pool.burstcoin.io.

I'm currently developing a method to sustain the BURST price on the long run.
It isn't time to share any detail, I will in the (hopefully) near future. So, try to be patient...

What I currently need, is to know if there is a Bitcoin client which supports features like the Asset Exchange of BURST (in BTC obviously) or, even better, a crowdfounding mechanism with the possibility to the founders to also attach text messages to the donation.

Mind that the WIP method doesn't strictly depend on this, but it would make its implementation a little bit easier

Was thinking about an asset backed dice where a portion of the house edge would go back to support burst in whichever form (buy support, development funds).

That's a great diagram for a detailed explanation of the algorithm, but it suffers from the same problem as the original one:  it doesn't highlight the key idea or the benefits it affords.  We need an introductory diagram which will allow at least a guy like Luke-Jr to quickly pick up that a large amount of precomputation is stored to disk, and that this leads to cheaper marginal costs for mining (and hence cheaper transactions), and frees up computational resources for other purposes.  Ideally it should also be simple enough that people without Luke-Jr's extensive experience can apprehend these points.

For this purpose, you don't want the introductory diagram to go into the details of the hashing process, you want something which really bashes people over the head with the key idea.  It should describe the computationally intensive process of initializing a plot, then sketch out in cartoon fashion how the mining process relies on the plot for massive speed gains.  Then the more detailed diagrams can be used to explain how the mining process defends against illegitimate speedups.

I know I'm criticizing without offering a replacement, but (a) I do think uray's diagram is valuable, just not for the introduction -- it would go better as the central diagram in a whitepaper and (b) I'm generally terrible at diagrams.  If someone else would be prepared to make such an introductory diagram pretty and clear, I would be happy to offer a sketch of it.

I'm OK at explaining complex ideas and selling their benefits in prose, though, at least in the limited context of academia.  If there is sufficient interest, I could take a crack at rewriting the OP.

Storj lead dev here. I really don't see Burst as a competitor, I think it is a really cool concept that could be useful to us. For example, we might want to make sure there is excess unused capacity on the network for expansion. I think that would be a good use case for the Burst algo.

If someone would be willing to take that time to port this to some well documented Python, I would be open to integrating it into DriveShare.

Do you mean this message?  That's not a new announcement.

I'm pretty sure there were ad hoc cloud computing companies you could sell your CPU cycles to before bitcoin was released.  Anyway, storj and burst solve different problems.  storj is a trading platform for buying and selling hard drive space/bandwidth, using counterparty to secure its ledger.  Burst is using hard drive space as the economic commitment required to participate in its blockchain consensus process.

the concept sounds funny but nothing more to me. the main issue i see is that storj offers person to person services as core concept.
securing hosted data against loss makes the whole idea weird.
technically it is possible to keep multiple (100+) copies of the data within the network and distribute them over different geographic regions. but each copy requires someone to get paid somehow to host the data. if a person to company service can calculate a service based on their costs and profit wishes they know exaclty how much a user has to pay for 1gb of data. they store the data on raids and keep up to 4 copies depending on their infastructure and service. they know they require 4 gb capacity to sell one gb.
compared to burst where infastructure to store data exists as side effect to cut electricity costs storj is complete different.
technically if you want to reliably store or exchange data in the cloud there exist different options.
even if cloud based data storage will be added to burst and even if it fails as concept burst only looses a feature.
if the concept fails for storj it means storj fails.
i have posted some pages ago what i think what has to be done to have a successful cloudstorage approach.
technically the only real benefitting application is if you have to distribute sets of data to a big audience.
what may also work would be to integrate burst as storage provider into owncloud. this may be the simplest way to get public attention because there already is a market for and people are looking for affordable storage provider.
