This is something that bears watching, IMO:
http ://redditmetrics.com/r/Monero

Out of 1.2 million /r/,  Monero is:

No. 104   Fastest growing yesterday
No. 117   Fastest growing last 7 days
No. 201   Fastest growing last 30 days
No. 427   Fastest growing last 90 days

Over 1000 new subscribers per day, and accelerating.  Sure, all of crypto is expanding, but to me this indicates that Monero is receiving its share of attention, and more.  Ranked  near top 0.1% (for # subscribers on that site) and exploding upward.  This is visibility, adoption, exposure, whatever you want to call it.  Here it comes.

go  back 1 page on this threat Smiley

Cool stats, they match my sense of what is happening.  I see a dip against BTC and then (unlike in the past) there are immediately bargain hunters, hoovering up any signs of cheap Monero.

You have to realise you just can't buy cheap Monero any more, unless you're very quick off the mark.  I am having to adjust my trading stance accordingly...  Wink

EDIT: BTW, Explorer - I guess you have also spotted how the odd mention of Monero in the WO thread is allowed to pass through the velvet rope. Far more of the smarter people are keeping Monero quietly in their portfolio, it seems

It doesn't hurt that the WO moderator moonlights here.  Smiley

No pain at all.  As a wise man has told me... the moon is black and orange. Wink

But...  all will be what all will be.  Smiley Smiley

I so wish we had a like button.

We held nice and stable and poised while the madness went on that could have sent us much nearer to zero.

I still couldnt bare to flip any. I have faith in Monero!

Goooooooo!

Agreed, me as well. Can't sell any. Perfections about 4250 end of 2018 I think are a bit much, but 2000 is maybe double?

You meant predictions ?

Who predicted 4250 Huh? please a link ?

4250 seems reasonable to me--I don't think I've gone nuts, but maybe you're the last to notice?  Tongue

Yep, I'm just being very conservative. I think a near term price of multiple thousands would require some significant improvements in usability and privacy, however. Beyond just the space savings of bullet proofs, Monero transactions need a larger anonymity set. I don't think that the current ringsizes are sufficient for truly inscrutable privacy.

I haven't heard much about RuffCT/RingCT2.0, or whatever it's called now. If I remember correctly, using the entire blockchain as an anonymity set was mentioned at one point. Any news in this area?

That was put aside because RuffCT would need trusted setup. Monero Research Lab is still looking at progress of it, but as it is right now it cant be added to Monero.

RuffCT and RingCT2.0 are two different things afaik CT2.0 is the one with the trusted setup.

That's correct. The reason RuffCT/StringCT (two different names for the same thing) was put on the back burner is that only improves size but not CPU usage (still linearly related to the ring size with similar constant factors). So any large increase in ring size (the main reason for wanting it) would enormously increase processing load. At small ring sizes, there isn't much improvement in size.

This is in contract with bulletproofs which not only reduce transaction size but also appear (in early tests) to also improve processing time a bit. So that is a clear improvement and the top priority at the moment in terms of improving the efficiency of the blockchain.

Monero still underpriced. I'm not totally certain that it will exceed Ethereum by market cap, but certainly Monero deserves to be above things like Ripple and Bcash. Given that Ethereum is over $65B, Bcash and Ripple are each around $30B, I see a $50B market cap for Monero as totally realistic. Ledger wallet, multisig and bulletproofs are all yet to be priced in, so $1000+ before October 2018 is quite likely, in my opinion.

So, you are expecting Monero to increase 3x the current price in the next 10 months?  When was the last time growth was that low?  Think about what it has averaged for the last 2 years and if you want to be conservative discount that number.  My gut feel is we should see a 7 to 15 times increase from now over the next year if the following happen as planned and no really catastrophic events derail things.

  • Bullet Proofs is implemented successfully
  • Kovri
  • Coinbase adoption
  • Multisig and major DNM adoption

If all of this comes through, I can't imagine we would not increase 10x by the end of 2018 and if we meet the $425 projection I've seen talked about by Christmas, that would be $4250. I will have 2 very Merry Christmas's in a row at that point!

I wrote this 4 weeks ago.  Price /2.75 ago.  I wouldn't assume that Monero is done with massive moves just yet.  The supply squeeze is going to reach epic proportions eventually.

One year ago, XMR was $6.  A year before that, it was 40 cents. Today, XMR is $133.  One year from now, 1 XMR=$______

I wonder if/when Ledger is fully integrated with Monero if that will trigger a sizeable price increase.

Seems to be a major hurdle in people investing that don't trust themselves to create a secure wallet otherwise.

This is a major thing that a lot of people have stayed away from Monero for. Why use a ledger though when xmr will have its own opensource hardware wallet that will be even better Smiley

With the amount of whining and noise on the subject, if those people don't create an avalanche, it would be a shock  Cheesy
They can buy the XMR, I will buy the Ledger.  I guess we're both on a wait-and-see basis, just with very different priorities  Roll Eyes

Digital Trash is pushing above $1000 and Monero is still stuck at around the $345-ish mark. What's the chance of $425 by Dec 25? Still got 8 days left.

Pure, unsubstantiated, bullshit speculation on my part:

1.
 - Monero (i.e. FP) has already received the apple dev license
 - Has not made it public because that would intimate that light wallet release is imminent and Monero does not encourage pre-release speculation.
 - Wallets get released over Christmas/New Year, much in keeping with previous, surprise, releases around this time.

2. Ripple and Litecoin Dash are getting added to Coinbase - hence the recent increase in price (from insider trading).

Here endeth the speculation.

They better be quick with the wallet. Electroneum is a clone of monero and they have more than 40M USD cap and a working mobile wallet. Right now is dropping due to the weak hands, but still healthtly above ICO price.

I want monero to succeed, it is original and cool.
