I am really curious about the ios app. whats the problem with releasing it on the app store? Does apple not allow?

It's Telegram. Their Android version is up to date, but their iOS version isn't - so the GEMZ team has to update it themselves.

Is that possible? or can it only be done from Telegram?

Telegram is open-source, so it is possible.

Also Daniel mentioned "and other cool stuff" in his last update, wondering what that is.

I understand your frustration but I think Gems at this particular point needs to focus on development, communication wise we actually know exactly what is being worked on now.  the plan is to have development updates every two weeks or so, so we aren't really in the dark or anything. I honestly think we are close to getting the iOS and airdrop. The truth is we have already been given a really great product that far surpasses Telebit and most major altcoins just in the android app. Bear in mind Telebit is only getting some press cause it's just been released, GEMS also had quite a bit a few months back. So far I see no other app come close to the project honestly and even if they did this isn't a zero sum game.

Until now none of the messaging apps that support bitcoin actually have the option to buy it in a simplified way from within the app (something that is needed to grow adoption). This will be a powerful tool, i hope getgems introduces this option to buy btc/gemz from within the app before others do. This option will increase the user base a lot and can be capitalised on marketings wise pretty good.

I have a good way to get users, I mean appart from Ninja downloading. I have downloaded most apps from recomended blogs or youtube videos. All somone needs to do if they have the skills is to make a youtube clip with say top 10 messengers apps etc and slip GetGems into the list. Something like this, they get a ton of hits. Getgems is an app just waiting to go viral.
