I realize that,  but I believe you can infer a block found when you 'shares this round' reset.  (are lower then last you checked).
That being said, the most important stat I use the the 'Last Share'  which tells me conclusively and very quickly that the miner is still accepting shares.

side question:  How do you get your 5850 to 400H.  is it flashed to a 5870?

part1: Yes he should delay those as well since you're right about being able to detect a new block that way.  As for your workers, normally the worker stats page is realtime (it seems frozen at this time though) so you should be able to hit F5 to refresh it and see if any of your worker threads are at 0 MH/s, also that will let you know exactly which GPU has crashed (if you name the workers sanely)

part2: I clocked it to ~980 MHz core, 300 MHz RAM, and have the latest PhatK Kernel improvements

Thanks guys....  I pushed my 5850 rig up to 980 / 450  and I am now getting 365 .   when I left the mem at 300, it did not increase past 340, but pushing the memory up with the core now I am getting 365 Smiley

edit:  2 seconds after posting my display drivers reset and recovered..  but that means a reboot anyway.  so I set the clocks at   960/500  still getting between 362 and 368  Smiley

Is this round getting to be too long for anyone else's liking?

Also, any chance you could have bitcoins earned during the week, with a set day, say reset every sat midnight?

Seems that day to day can vary a lot, but would be nice to see how much it averages out to over a week. At least for us non hoppers Wink

That has to be the worst strike of luck ever. At 2000+ GH/s, we found 2 blocks in 10 hours 10 minutes. Thats almost 6x.

I suppose that is true, because as soon as you see that you got more btc, you could switch back to guild.

I have to say that I am very happy you are relooking at the whole payment issue. The only reason I do most of my mining on BTCMine is because they do a score based system. I still do throw one of my boxes at you and have 3% donations set.

i agree. looking at slush which is very comparable they have 4 hour blocks sprinkled into their
stats just like btcguild. deepbit with double the power has 1+ hour blocks quite often during
a 24 hour period.

--------

was the invalid block just bad luck/timing or a server issue?

Looked into the invalid after waking up, it was a standard run of the mill invalid.  Our first "real" invalid in a while (the other 4 most recent were from when US West had stability issues during LPs).  Came from US East, no odd signs in the logs showing anything other than somebody else on the network came up with a solution slightly before US East sent out its solution.

Regarding instant payouts:  Yes, technically INSTANT payouts will be gone if there is a 1 hour delay is added.  It still doesn't have to wait for 120 confirms, and it still allows you to receive rewards from invalids.

Not yet, I've been a bit busy today with a new botnet that surfaced on the pool last night.  Its a different one from the last two.

Regarding instant payouts:  Yes, technically INSTANT payouts will be gone if there is a 1 hour delay is added.
For people who donate 2.5%+ they can still have instant payout, right? Even with a 1 hour stats delay, the website would show confirmed rewards from an hour ago. But when the Instant Payout button is pressed, all confirmed rewards can be paid. The end user would see a slightly higher payout then expected.
Then the user's confirmed rewards would remain at 0.00000000 BTC until it "catches up" with the one hour delay again.

I think as long as you have a message explaining "You just received a payment -- confirmed rewards will show after stats delay," you won't have a problem.

I've been trying to figure out Idle alerts for 2 days now.  Please tell me it's not me, they are just not available right now. That would make me feel not so incompetent.

They haven't been working properly due to no longer pulling stats live from the other servers.  Made some big changes to how last shares are handled which is why My Account/API load almost instantly, whereas before they had to pull the data live from all servers which meant the load times were 4-6 seconds.

They will be back shortly (within the next 24 hours).  I got called in to work today (I normally work 4 days/10 hours), which has pushed back my schedule a day for the fixes/updates this weekend.

Been thinking on the pool hopper problem and came up with a few thoughts.

Why not just award shares to miners that mined for more than 50% of the block? During short blocks they don't hop away anyway, so there is no bad effect there. For slightly longer rounds, they are there for the majority of the round, so they have 'earned' their reward. The real problem is the longer rounds where they mine for 10 to 15 minutes and then leave. By the time an hour long block finishes, they are long gone. BUT, if you require a 50%+ participation in the block then it wouldn't matter. Their shares would simply be forfeit to those that stayed and mined the entire block, essentially they did free work for the pool.

This wouldn't even need to be calculated for every block, just those to run longer than average hopping time (20 min?). Also no need to play with delayed stats or other masking. Like they say in the lottery: You have to be in it to win it. Or in our case: You have to stay to get the pay  Grin
