Just because we got a bad block does not in anyway guarantee the next one will be good.  Or that even the average will be good.  We can predict what will happen in the future, but what happened in the past does not affect it.  At all.

So yes, we did waste a day of mining.
What does that have to do with anything? I'm aware of the Gambler's Fallacy.

I am saying, you have the option to solo mine, or pool. If you pool you have to choose a pool. There is no guarantee any pool will run good or bad, but the larger the pool the lower the variance will be. But no matter the pool you are always running the risk of a long unlucky streak. That length of time will vary based on the size.

It's not wasting a day of mining you geniuses. If its wasting a day of mining then solo mining is an even bigger waste. So if I went and solo mined right now and managed to hit a block, what a waste that would be.

Google the word "variance" you incredibly smart people

I agree with what you are saying but I must add who know tomorrow we could mine a whole series of blocks in quick succession... its all a game of luck

EU server is now online.

Instability over the last 2 hours was the setup of the EU server and making sure all 3 servers were properly communicating.  I also took this as a chance to close the memory leak that was in my code for sync'ing the pools up.

You will now be able to use any of the following servers to connect:
  uswest.btcguild.com - California
  useast.btcguild.com - Florida
  eu.btcguild.com - Netherlands

Pointing your miner at regular btcguild.com will randomly assign you.  For most miners the latency will not have much impact.  However, if you find yourself having idles, changing to a different server can alleviate the problem.

Additionally, for those who haven't already noticed, the website now REQUIRES that you include 'www.' at the beginning (or http://www or https://www).  If you do not include www, it may forward you to the randomly selected server landing page.

Good job on the servers, really awesome.

Any word on if the server switch is somehow connected to recent low earnings?

I left the host pointed at btcguild.com and I am guessing that I am pointed at the west cost server for all my miners.  Seeing about 5% stale rate, but the sample is small and only over the last 15 minutes at most.   I will leave it there for awhile and see how things chill.  If the rate remains high, I will try to fix to one server or the other.

Looks good other than stale shares! Smiley  No idles so far and no dropped connections [which I was rarely seeing anyway].  Keep up the good work and I will check back later to look at stats and tweak as appropriate.

Thanks again!

Last share stats [per miner] are whacked, but otherwise, the stats seem to be good.  Is there anyway to tell what server each miner is connected too?  I assume several miners could be split between servers.

Thanks.

I had to switch to another pool.  I get seeing LP's over and over in my workers and it was killing my GPU's.  I do not know why this is.

EU server is back up, forgot to change the limits.conf file to allow more than 1,024 connections under the user.

what about the multitude of LP new work pushes? I cant use the pool if hashing keeps getting interrupted by idles and LP pushes all the time. Its not good for my GPU's

Standing by.    Of course, you feel no pressure..   Cheesy

Getting a huge flood right now, adding debug log printouts into the code to find out exactly where the crash is coming from.  It's a memory leak issue, looks like it's related to that hashing I mentioned previously.  Also checking network logs to see if this flood is legit or not (although it looks like something slush mentioned with his pool over the weekend).

UPDATE:  Found out which worker is triggering the crash, now trying to figure out why.
UPDATE 2:  Back up and not crashing at the moment.  Gotta package some items that sold today for shipment, we'll see if it's stable or not soon.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but some bugs just can't be found until you open up for the whole world to play with.

Interesting, I reset my stats a little bit ago and not a single stale share so far and using your DNS load balancer for the sake of the pool and it seems to be working well.

"I love you man!"  Smiley

I'll check back later.  Excellent work!

I've been on the current block for 22 minutes, not sure which server I'm on as my miners are just pointed to btcguild.com.  Done 181 shares with 2 stales, yet my estimated rewards and unconfirmed rewards are both 0.0000. Is there a problem with the totals, or are my shares being disregarded for whatever reason? I've had no problems on the previous two blocks...

Estimated rewards wasn't adding EU shares.  This has now been fixed.  Actual rewards were not affected, only the estimation display.

So I take it then I was on the EU server?  Guess I better hardcode one miner to the west coast, the other to the east....

I think he is working on the stats now.  I am seeing an estimated reward when I check.  I am seeing an estimated reward, but I didn't receive any payment for the round that just ended.

I am sure that he will get it worked out.  I am sure the data is all there, do I wouldn't sweat it. I am not aware of anybody not getting paid when they should be on this pool.  Most likely the front end web site will be fully updated and working soon.

EDIT: I guess the round didn't end after all.  Either I read the site wrong or it temporarily displayed a different time.

Oh yeah, I agree, but just want to be sure. I've worked out deals with people who've pre-ordered bitcoins at a locked in rate, and I gotta try to deliver tomorrow as promised! Cheesy

Wow, I hope you have funds in an exchange to buy coins if you fall short.  "Futures" on bitcoins seem extremely risky to me.

I've got a stash of coins in a savings wallet, I'm just doing my damnedest to not dip in to it!
