Hi.

Just switched one of my miners over to this pool.  I am having an issue where I get a bunch of diff 1 shares rejected that say (Above target).  I am using BFGminer

5.4.1.  I have to use this because of the Monarchs I have.  I think this also results in a ton of invalids.  This doesn't happen on Bitcoin.cz.

Thanks!

Its normal for monarchs on BFGMiner. Mine does that too, could not figure out how to stop it. Kano said not to worry about it since it will adjust and start submitting shares at the correct difficulty. It should only do that for about 20-30 seconds. They do it when switching to new blocks as well.

Now the shares say (invalid jobID)

Try one Monarch at a time and see if it works, use a BFGMiner command line with just the basics.
Doesnt seem like a pool issue, id post in the BFGMiner thread or in Lightfoots monarch thread if you still have issues. BFGMiner + Monarch combo is extremely buggy unfortunately.

Yeah as I said in my email, the problem is that the pool invalid stats are high because of your monarchs
One monarch isn't the end of the earth, but you have a lot of them and they are indeed sending out bad 1 diff shares at a rate higher than the good shares of even the top miners.

I've on my todo list to add stats about this on the workers page so anyone can see it for their workers and I can tell people to take note of it and fix it ASAP.

CGminer  Does not work with my cards.  If I use cgminer, they hash very slow.  Due to the firmware (1.4.5) these cards have.  Here is a response from -ck.

Yes I said that in my email cgminer doesn't work with the latest monarchs and why it doesn't.

In your pic you can see 10 bad shares a second.
If you had 10 of them, then that's 100 bad shares a second.
The pool gets a total of less than 1000 shares a second from EVERYONE Smiley

I know my Monarch is probably responsible for a lot out of those few if i reboot it. Which i try not to do anymore.

Are the invalid shares impacting the pool negatively ?

Back on Bitcoin.cz for now.  As one would expect, contacting BFL is futile.  I apologize if this caused any disruption to this pool.  I really do like this pool, but ALL

I have are monarchs.  Maybe sometime down the road, I will be able to use CGminer with my cards.

Yeah being an owner of one (i almost bought a two) i feel your pain. Its very poorly supported. When setup right they can work good, they have terrific underclocking performance but they are a bit iffy at times. BFL has abandoned all their products.

Haven't seen huge increases since 2014, and the diff was nowhere near what it is now.  Kind of makes me regret buying that batch 8 s7.
Very good chance this is what that is...  testing them all before shipping out.
Yup testing  Wink They're getting some extra revenue from them before the dif increase. For those that pre-order asics the manufacturer should give the person who bought it a portion of the testing phase revenue.

Running all your monarchs into a local proxy will clean out the crap before it gets to the pool. ckproxy is ideal for that.

Odd. I have a Monarch I can run with no issues at less than 1% error rate if I underclock at 555GH@280watts usage. I use BFGminer or easyminer with no issues.

helipotte, yeah if you could switch over to ckproxy that would be good.
Though that requires linux also.

No apology required.
You clearly didn't realise what was going on and that's why I brought it up in email.
I've not banned you or anything Smiley

Edit: I'll add, the main reason is the fact it shows bad invalid stats for the pool Smiley
We updated ckpool to reduce the invalid stats a bit more ... but it shows worse on the web site Sad

I don't have an issue with errors.  I have one instance running 24 monarchs.  Everything works fine but the host CPU overhead in BFGminer is very high.

No probs here.  Maybe I could try setting up ckproxy on a R-pi.  Have plenty of those laying around now.  BTW, just got your email, I don't usually check it until later.

Edit: I see it is 64bit only, so no r-pi proxy.

The issue is not hardware errors but invalid shares. They only happen when you point the card to mine at something new. It seems they have  to clear the hardware buffers of old data or something.

now i see why Monarchs are going cheap here in aus.. so much more effort you need to get them running right..

300aud for 700gh/s monarch, or $100 for a ~60gh/s U3.. (or $90 for a S1, but 10 hour travel required to obtain it..)
