.... I hesitate to call the loss of fan control and the easy changing of frequencies an upgrade....
Changing freq on older rigs with 2.0 hasn't changed, it's just hidden...
It's still at http://your_rig's_IP_here/cgi-bin/minerAdvanced.cgi

Very interesting. It DOES take you to a frequency control page. However, when I decided to bump one of miners from 550 to 575, it popped up a warning saying it would take 3 hours to search frequencies before it starts mining.
I decided, No.

Thanks for the tip anyway.

I've done it loads of times, it doesn't take 3 hours.

Thank you for the info! So it may take about the same length of time it takes for an initial flash from older FW to the Auto-tune? About an hour for me.
Another question please, will it allow a frequency change to 575Mhz or any other freq that is not 550,600, or 650?

I know it shows that it available along with the normal large range of frequencies as were seen in the older no auto-tune FW. Just wondering if it might have a hard time settling in at one of the freqs. that is not 550, 600, 650.

Thank you for any further info you can provide!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

... Just wondering if it might have a hard time settling in at one of the freqs. that is not 550, 600, 650.

Thank you for any further info you can provide!!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy
With the exception of newer rigs (which have freq set per chip), if it's on the dropdown list, then you can use it. That being said, "working" differs from board to board and rig to rig (just like any other computer freq change).

If you have to ask "why?", you wouldn`t understand my answer.

Gotcha. I may try to bump the 550Mhz S9 to 575 tomorrow on my day off. The fans are running a lot slower on the 550 miner than the other S9's that are set on 600Mhz. Just hope than additional fan increase will be able to keep the newly flashed 575Mhz in a decent temp range.

Again, thanks for the info!

Ready for MORE BLOCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

I've done it loads of times, it doesn't take 3 hours.

Ah, what the hell. I just got into the miner with the appropriate URl and bumped the freq. from 500 to 575Mhz and see how it handles the temps. Since it is a rated 550Mhz miner by BM, I don't want to take too high.

I'll repost back after it has finished. Almost four minutes and counting,  Cheesy

EDIT: DAMN!!! It came back in about five minutes. Much faster than I imagined. That will definitely be the way I change freqs. in the future without having to re-flash again!!
Great tip and info!!!! +2   Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Feeling brave! 575Mhz was running fine with no temp issues, so I just bumped again to 600Mhz. That means all four S9's will be hashing at 600 when/if it comes back!!!  Cheesy

Excellent!!! Came back again in around 5 minutes. Miner all looks good in Awesome Miner. This is definitely the best way to change frequencies!!!  Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

Yeah it was 10min after the block.
But as I mentioned the other day, the reconnects are a straight failover then a reconnect.

There's no doubt they find blocks, they've found 95 so far.
The issue is the total number S9v1 has found is well below what it should have - CDF[Erl] = 0.991261 with that last one.
(They're expected to have found almost 25 more)

Yes but most jumped ship during the red months. That's how leaving a pool during slow times can damn near ruin it. Had all those machines stayed they could have hit those blocks.  it's almost as bad as a block withholding attack. I know it's no guarantee and hell what's everyone gonna think when we hit the 1:10000 year block. 20000% or more.  Yes that's possible. Rare but will happen eventually as long as Bitcoin survives.
