I like the current payment model. A consistent flow of payouts is just fine with me. Mine On With Kano-San

I do also.  I think it came about because folks were complaining about the large number of small payouts in their wallets causing larger fees whey they tried to spend their BTC.  Kano's accounting module for dust payout would also allow time intervals for the payouts to get fewer and larger payouts.

Right now fees are practically zilch, if fees every jump back up to December levels, we'd probably have to revisit this issue. 

I know, I spent some BTC yesterday and the "normal" fee recommended by my wallet was 0.00000300 and it was confirmed on the very first block.

Took longer than I expected for it to startup. I kept looking for an IP and wasn't finding anything. But I'm up and running now and providing Kano with my first hash and my first miner ever.

The most work was just getting the electricity supply properly setup.

It was getting louder in bursts - it would run hard for 15 seconds and then less so for the next 15 seconds, cycling. Not it appears to have tapered off and is a pretty consistent hum.

We've got a few stops to make tonight and I'll probably pick up some insulation with soundproofing to throw up into joists.

1. What are the two numbers for hash rate I see at the top? It currently shows Hash Rate:12.16/10.78THs
2. What's a decent temp for the S9. I saw the max was 125 but where's a good spot to keep it. And I'm also guessing that number showing in my miner status is Celius?
3. Is there a good post detailing what all the stats on the kano.is site are?

The two numbers are hash rate real time and hash rate average.  For ideas on noise suppression, go to eBay and search for "antminer s9 sound" to see ideas of things you can do to muffle a toaster sized jet engine.

My S9s run in the 60-75 range but they are all in a data center...

1) I'm guessing your referring to the top of the Miner Status page?  GH/S(RT) is "real time" - think "this moment", GH/S(avg) is "average over time".  Not sure of the time period, but feels something like 5-10 minutes.  Ignore RT, focus on avg - its more meaninful.

2) Chip temps in the 80s (yes Celsius) is decent.  100 is high.  115 (or possibly 125) is thermal auto-shutdown.  My chip temps are in the high 60's (C), but I'm using outside air (40F right now) with some recirculation from my hot aisle to try and feed them 60F-65F air.  You really need to figure a way to vent that hot air outside.  Many who have a few S9s use 6" flexible ductwork to do that.  If you hot air exhaust mixes with your cold air intake you are likely going to have heat problems - especially in a closed room.

I got my new s9 up and hashing.  All looks good except the pool set the diff for this one higher than my other one.  Is there a certain amount of randomness to the vardiff?  like a standard deviation type of thing?  Or is my new one just running a little quicker?  it's showing 13,706gh/s avg and the old one is at 13,632.  seems like a really small variance but the diff is 14.6k and 13.5k respectively.  not sure if that's normal variance.  Kano.is is reporting good numbers for hashrate and spool up appears to be going as expected so I don't see a problem per se.  don't wana add downtime w/a reboot so if that's normal i'll just let it run.

Thank you! The wooden sound cabinet is an item I can make pretty easily. Don't see a reason to pay a $180 for it.

Got it and thank you. The room is in the basement so I won't have any issues with intakes. I do have a small window in the room though, I've cracked it now and it is cold enough outside to keep the room at a decent temp. I should be able to rig an exhaust for it pretty easily. I do have a small window in the room though, I've cracked it now and it is cold enough outside to keep the room at a decent temp. I should be able to rig an exhaust for it pretty easily. If I make up a wood cabinet for the unit I can add the exhaust system to it at the same time.

Home Depot style stores (or Amazon) sell 8" dual window fans that work pretty well.  The one I have can even have one fan running forward and the other backward - although that is naturally not particularly efficient.  God news is they are cheap, like $25 or some such.

I finally bit the bullet and decided to expand my little mine. I added 2 Avalon 741's about a week and a half ago and just got in 3 brand new Avalon 841's from Blockforge today and got those up and running and pointed here. After seeing my hash rate around 25TH for the last year it is really exciting to see about 80TH on the front page. Still one of the little guys but enjoying every minute of it. Let's get some blocks!!

I finally bit the bullet and decided to expand my little mine. I added 2 Avalon 741's about a week and a half ago and just got in 3 brand new Avalon 841's from Blockforge today and got those up and running and pointed here. After seeing my hash rate around 25TH for the last year it is really exciting to see about 80TH on the front page. Still one of the little guys but enjoying every minute of it. Let's get some blocks!!

Yeah the 'aim' of the code there is to avoid changing it around too often, so once it gets adjusted within a % of the expected 18 SPM (shares per minute), it leaves it alone.

Of course, the actual value doesn't matter except for a minor (unnoticeable) effect on variance when they're close to the expected 18 SPM

Good call going the Avalon route.  Mine are steady and boring...just the way I like it!  I wish I could say the same about my bitmain equipment.

Thanx 4 the tip guys!  I'm still thinking like I'm on slushpool...over there small amounts of variance can affect block rewards especially during short rounds/high luck periods.  I'm starting to see that PPLNS filters out alot of that.  its a benefit of this system that;s kinda hard 4 me to wrap my head around, but I'm gettin it!

I get ~0.0079 bitcoin for a block found ~2 days at kano with 250 th/s

I get ~0.0250 bitcoin every day for n blocks with 150 th/s

so what's the point on staying at kano? Or do I just have to wait to get more % share of the network after these "7 days and 10 hours" ?

Ditto!!! Once you get that "paid by the day" out of your mind, and let the reality of the ACTUAL rewards settle, you'll understand it.
Try to think of it as a Regular paycheck. When I go to work, I get paid on Friday. Not every day.

The ramp will be over before you know it, and your percentage will be much, much better. Be strong!!! Purge that Corporate filth from your mind!!! Ha!!!
