Let’s just hope for the best! That the BTC will go up and the difficulty go down! @NomadGroup when are you coming back? Now would be a good time. I just finished building a new little farm my friend, which should put out around 1PH-1.2PH. I’ve installed a 167kva transformer and had to do a bunch of work to get everything ready to start. And just as I was done this happened to BTC! . So I got like 30 miners currently running just to see how much they make and how much will they charge me for the electricity, I should get at around 6 cents per kilowatt. I’m just afraid to hook it all up and then have to pay a bunch of money out of my pocket for the electricity! Lol . So I have to do a test run first! If I the miners will be able to pay the electric bill then I might be back here soon.

Let’s just hope for the best! That the BTC will go up and the difficulty go down! Unfortunately that window only lasts about 2016 Blocks. As soon as the price rises the Diff will follow. If it's slow enough it'll buy us some more time with a lower Diff maybe 2 or 3 retarget periods, but last year is a good example of how fast Diff can rise if the price increases quickly. Only this time there won't be a bottleneck on hardware, there is an ample supply just waiting to be purchased or turned back on. In the meantime I'll happily sit here partially heating the house with some 741's, collecting some lower Diff coins for a better tomorrow. Would have been nice to snag one last block before we lost a bunch of Hashpower but I'm looking forward to their 5ND running out. Well let’s hope that the diff will drop by a lot soon and the price will go up slowly but surely then! . Any positive movement in the BTC industry that would help to pay my electric bill works for me!

This whole route is good news for those of us who heat our house with obsolete S7s and S5s - recently upgraded one of my machines to a T9+ for about $80. Maybe if this continues I can pick up some s9s. The winter heating season is just starting.....

I think it will take a while for difficulty to rise unless the price rises very dramatically - which I don't expect it to at this point. Large professional miners have been struggling for a while and many have been hanging on hoping for a turnaround because of the already sunk costs - (server space rented, power contracts, etc.). Once someone closes an operation like that because they ran out of money, they do not run out and start it up again immediately because it now would be mildly profitable again.

Why, exactly, did we lose 80% of the hashing rate here all of a sudden? Anything of notice apart from luck? Are the old-timers still here or mostly left already?

A certain mining source didn't like the variance

well I am currently stuck - the electric company has suspended my service to my mining building for the time being.... and that is why my miners were no longer mining. My building is located on my residential property (about 3 acres) but has it's own and separate meter/panel box - due to my high consumption, I have had multiple visits from the electric company (even a couple from law enforcement who detected the heat on thermal and thought I might have a grow house) and now they want me to convert my residential service to commercial and state they need to install a new/different meter and I will have to pay for the changes... now mind you, I have been trying to get a transformer installed so I can expand and they have been delaying/blocking that and NOW they pull this move... So, I am pushing for them to install the transformer that way I can build a larger building to house more of my miners and to possibly do hosting...
but for time being, I am temporarily shut down. I may try to relocate a few of my miners to a location nearby in the meantime just too keep accruing BTC, but I doubt I can do them all and keep it profitable.

isnt it a option to pull a extention wire with enough capacity from your house connection to the other location temporarily?

Wow, you got your own building on 3 acres and they are still giving you sh...., that’s messed up! I just installed a transformer my self but it took them almost half a year to do it, because of all the bureaucratic paperwork I had to go through.

I dont think I can pull 400 amps with an extension cord lol Wow, you got your own building on 3 acres and they are still giving you sh...., that’s messed up! Yea - I am on month 4 or 5 in trying to get it hooked up. I want 3kv or thereabouts. Extension wire? Lmao . Bro, i don’t think he is trying to hook up one vacuum cleaner well I do have a vacuum in the building but yea it's not just for power to that - there are the miners, the fans, the a/c unit, the dehumidifier, the cameras, the routers and maybe a few other things.

Cool man, the electric company made me buy and put 2x600 amp, one next to the transformer and one inside the building, as well as one 200 amp fuse. The wire cables that I got running to the 600amps is 350mcm which is as thick as 4 fingers put together, that wire was hella expesive! I don’t remember the exact price but it was around 3-4K just to run it from the transformer to the inside of the farm. It was a lot longer to runit to the main line outside. Pretty much I’ve spent a fortune to install all of it! Not to mention the price of the transformer.
