Will the initial orders be shipped all at once, or shipped as soon as they are ready on a first-come-first-served basis?
@cablepair Lol, get this part right and you'll not only potentially eat BFL's lunch, you'll also potentially trigger a panic wave of BFL customers wanting to re-hedge their bets. Play nice, everyone! Also, how are you re-branding the site?

just my 2 bitcents: the prototype probably looks like a bundle of wires, which if seen would make the device look non-professional and would be bad for marketing..
Lets give em a couple of days to give more info...
will cgminer work with this after release?

WOW!
Tom! I'm blown away by this announcement! I'm extremely tempted to switch my order. But chances are I'll stick with the Quad until I see you're shipping units out and then I'll take you up on your rebate, or if I come up with the $1100 in the meantime, I'll definitely buy one from you.
Can't wait to see the specs. Sounds amazing!

Hey cablepair! Welcome to the world of haters and doubters, have a cup of coffee and sit back and soak in the distrust and hate! Bring your sunblock though, you'll get burned otherwise.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it. There was never anything there in the first place.

Its awesome that there will be so many options for ASIC mining going forward and one company wont be able to dominate. Are you going to sell a coffee warmer

Are you going to sell a coffee warmer Oohhh that would be wicked!! You could call it the Cuaresmeno. Great work Tom! I am extremely happy to see a BFL competitor and look forward to the months to come I certainly do not have the funding or the resources to release 3 separate mining devices like BFL (sorry no coffee warmers) that is why we are focusing on something that can compete with their mid-grade unit. ______________________ I know a lot of people have been emailing me, I dont want anyone to think I am ignoring emails, I will try to knock out all the responses I can in the morning thanks for your interest in BTCFPGA and bASIC. we will continue to support the ModMiner quad as long as people still use them. We are ready to bring the TLM bitstream to the MMQ but are waiting on a response from eldentyrel to move forward with it.
I apologize, the delay here is 100% my fault. I have been really swamped the last two weeks and dropped the ball.

The printing press heralded the end of the Dark Ages and made the Enlightenment possible, but it took another three centuries before any country managed to put freedom of the press beyond the reach of legislators. So it may take a while before cryptocurrencies are free of the AML-NSA-KYC surveillance plague.

Thanks for the news cablepair. I will just sleep better knowing there are competition in the future ASICs mining field. Just ordered 2 BFL already so I have to wait 2 months or more to pre-order/order yours. hummm...and please, dont hate me for what Im about to say, but as a business owner, in your place, I would throw a shoe box over the wire-ships-board-soldering-mess and show that I have something that can do a 27Ghash/s bellow a shoe box (or two ). That could get to your side all the people that is thinking each way to go with ASICs. ...Set aside the panic it will cause to your competitor.

I've only been mining for about 6 months now and I have only used gpu's till now. I know I will have to switch to asics when they arrive and I am trying to decide what direction to go. Sorry if this is a noob question but what pools could I possibly use this device at? Thanx

The software (BFGMiner) will be able to point it at any pool you want.

So is the 27GH/s based on a simulation or just a guess? (since obviously there is no hardware yet that you are already selling)
Edit: and I should add ... is it HardCopy, Custom ASIC or something else?

@cablepair: - do you have an expected power figure ?
the prototype board we are testing on is only for development purposes and is not going to be an accurate representation of the power usage of the production device, I can tell you that it will be very energy efficient and certainly more efficient than the ModMiner Quad. I can also tell you that the 27Gh/s we are currently quoting is the minimum to be expected, it is likely to increase with software optimizations.

It will be something else with some simulation/estimation of the final product if they aren't guessing.

27Gh/s is not an estimate its based on real testing of a real prototype
and again we are using very basic software at this point, the speed is likely to increase once my software guys get to work on the firmware and mining software

See post 354 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79637.msg1157886#msg1157886 . In part: [...] once we had the core design we spent some money to have some made (this took some time) and turned those over to the hardware development team. [...] I interpret this to mean that they do have some form of prototype. I am also in the hardware design business and can understand why cablepair might not want to show photos of a prototype. Often a prototype looks NOTHING like the intended final product. There are sometimes circuits added that are useful for a prototype that are just extra "baggage" for a product. As twitchy as the bitcoin community is, I can understand not showing the prototype. That said, I would still LOVE to see photos and videos. Disclosure: I have ordered a BFL SC single even though I have LESS information about their product. It is possible I will also buy a bASIC product when more information is released later in the week. Can't we all just get along? Edit: RicRock beat me to it...
