Wow, what a mess.

Tom,

I suggest starting a new thread for your product. Maybe you can just condense the info here into an initial starting post and go from there.

Unfortunately this derailment overshadows your great product and customer service.

bASIC will ship as soon as possible, some of us will be working directly to make that happen.

As many here have stated, power is bullshet when it comes to ASIC. Josh is accurate in stating power efficiency in absolute terms allows a device to remain "competitive" longer. Now as Josh stated earlier though, what is "competitive" ? Making $10 more per month in 3 years ?

Any sound economic analysis shows that capital cost is the most important factor in these devices. You can't just isolate marginal profitability years down the road as a determining factor. No reasonable business person would base a decision on that principle.

Tom, just focus on your product and customers.

Tom, just focus on your product and customers.

Inaba declined your bet. We'll find out soon enough which one is more power efficient.

As I have more than 5 units pre-ordered from Tom's site, I would to see them shipping out ASAP. I have a been marketing their products in my town for the few weeks and really hope to get ASIC mining soon.

Trolling from Inaba aside.

Tom's transparency and track record with the MMQ made it an easy choice for me.

When BFL FPGA Singles hit the market I was considering to order a few but hesitated as my GPU's were making me quite a nice profit,
after hearing about the extremly long shipping time at the beginning I decided against it.

Now with ASIC's hitting the market it was an all-in or GTFO decision for me.

Suffice to say, bASIC's were the clear choice.

Better track record, active involvment of the community, supreme customer service and a friendly go-to guy.

I couldn't care less about power consumption up there, I personally expect Tom will ship before or atleast at the same time with BFL
and as someone mentioned, with ASIC's launching time is what counts.

just my 2 satoshis,

have a nice day, props to you Tom, even tough this thread gets derailed and trolled every so often, you're representing a business in a forum how it should be done.

More and more everyday, Inaba's behaviour on forums represents bad advertising for BFL as an organization. "Weasel words" doesn't quite cover it.

I did not decline the bet.  We'll see if Tom has enough confidence in his hardware to make the bet.  My guess is he'll chicken out and take the excuse of "You won't stay out of my thread" to back out of the bet.  But maybe he'll surprise me.

After all, 1000 BTC is a lot of money and I'm willing to put it up against BFL hardware so long as Tom is willing to define "competitive."  Seems easy enough for him to do, but we'll see.

I'm tired of arguing the power issue with people who have zero understanding of the economics of mining.  Anyone with even a modicum of sense would wonder what the heck Tom is hiding by not releasing any estimated power usages or defining "competitive."  Transparency my lily white butt hah.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

You are wrong! The bet was not about bASIC power requirement, ONLY about BFL's claim. Don't mix things...

I agree. Take the damn bet for 1000BTC about whether BFL can deliver their claimed efficiency. If you're so confident, then it should be easy money for you! However, you're antagonizing him with all this nit-picking of dictionary terminology, which is just going to screw you (by not getting the 1000BTC bet).

He's calling you out on your claims. Take the bet, and prove him wrong. Then, if you want to nitpick about his terms and "competitiveness", make a separate bet in another thread.

(a) as I have stated before our new website is due to launch any day now (or so the web dev guys keep telling me) when we do launch the new site I have a big news release coming that will include

* Board Dimensions for both the 54Gh/s and 27Gh/s models
* Quantity of ASIC chips on board
* Speed of each chip
* Size of ASIC chip on board
* BGA Package Type
* Cooling details
*** possibly graphic renders if the engineers can get me them in time.

Tom

Back to the topic.... You posted this about a week and a half ago. You've only got 5 weeks still your estimated shipping time. Do you have anything you can give us?

You did decline the bet by not accepting the listed terms, and changing the terms to give yourself more leverage.  It's very simple, if someone offers you a, and you say, "I don't want a, I want b", then you declined a.

Meanwhile, you broke your own pool again.

Also, you're still acting like a douche-nozzle.  You still seem to not understand that based on previous records alone, most people are far more trusting of Tom than BFL.  And you are certainly not improving the overall view of BFL's reputation by continuing to post the same damn question over and over, and insulting those who have a divergent opinion than your own.

Tom, please refund Inaba any and all monies paid for the pre-order of bASIC devices.  This way he will not longer be a "concerned customer" and will simply be a paid by BFL troll.

Perhaps you need to read what I wrote, since you seem to be having trouble with comprehension, let me restate it:

I will accept the bet for 1.1 GH/w as stated by Tom as long as he defines "competitive" and eliminates the stipulation that I stay out of his thread.  I did not modify the conditions of the bet in relation to BFLs power requirements.  Therefore, I did not decline the bet.  Additionally the bet was not "ONLY" about BFL's claims, as you stated, so please try to read and comprehend before posting, thanks.

What's it going to be Tom?  Are you going to man up and back your hardware like you want BFL to?  Or are you going to back out of the bet because you don't want to define what you consider to be "competitive?"

I've got 1000 BTC backing BFL's claims, put that 1000 BTC behind your claims.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

I didn't think BFL's PR could get any worse.

Josh has shown it's possible.

The ASIC market will eventually be flooded with competition and BFL will pay the price.

Happy Friday Everyone!

I will be out of the office this afternoon - Bill Clinton is in town today and is giving a little speech at the airport to support Dan Maffei.

My oldest son has Asperger's syndrome and Bill Clinton is his current obsession (its an autism spectrum disorder and one of the side effects is they often become fixated on a person or subject for a period of time) so I am taking him to see his current hero

I know there are some voice mails, I will return those calls as soon as I can.

As far as the bet goes it looks like it's not going to happen - whether Josh does not have confidence in his products or whether he just can't bear to give up the right to harass us in this thread I am not sure
but either way it Looks like business as usual Smiley

Thank you for everyone's support - my customers are the best!

Have a great day!

Tom

Haha, I knew Tom did not have the confidence in his product to back up the bet!  Thanks for confirming it, Tom!  I'm willing to 1000 BTC against our SHIPPING power usage.  All you have to do is define "competitive," you don't even have to give a power estimate.  I'm willing to put 1000 BTC against you just defining "competitive" and you aren't even willing to do that.  What are you hiding?

I've still got 1000 BTC to back up our power when you're ready to come clean and be honest with your customers, Tom.  Just let me know when you're ready.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.
