Slight misunderstanding. I never threatened to quit if he forked cgminer. He forked it long before I was considering quitting because I knocked back some of his code. I was considering quitting because I had lost interest in the code with FPGAs taking off as I thought they did not make any business sense (and still don't in light of ROI equations with changes coming up). When ASICs were announced, the equation changed dramatically as they make a lot more sense than FPGAs do. As for me being a whiny bitch...  Roll Eyes

Awww - I didn't get named as a troll Sad

I also guess people don't see my dev discussions ... Tongue ... which I get involved in quite seriously, but usually end up ... with people calling me names and me responding in same Smiley

Unfortunately the posts here missed most of the actual reason why the fork happened - you'll need to spend some time reading the other threads to understand it - and wade through a lot of FUD by one person Tongue

I will, however, say up front.
I don't post FUD. I do make mistakes - and you will find posts on this forum where I have clearly stated that I was wrong about something - I've no problem with being wrong - and will admit it.

I do troll people who I think deserve it however.

MMQ Owners: Theres an update for our version of the TML client

TML has some issues and it will never work perfectly but for those who want to give it a go you can download the new client here:

http://btcfpga.com/files/tml-1.12-mmq.jar

It is possible to get your MMQ up to 1Gh/s with this client.

Instructions on how to set it up can be found here:

https://www.modminerquad.com/index.php?title=TML_Mining_with_the_ModMiner_Quad

CONTEST

The winner will be picked in two hours - I will announce the winner and continue the second week of the contest at that time.
You will re-register by re-posting in the same thread - after I unlock it and post the winner - all registrations posted after my post will be counted.

OTHER COMMENTS
in regards to CGMINER/BFGMINER

Yes BFGMiner is a fork of CGMINER , which was forked to add Luke-Jr's FPGA support

We went the BFG route because FPGA support was not as good in CGminer as it was in BFGminer at the time, and it certainly wasnt as compatible with the ModMiner quad for various reasons.

The reason we officially support BFGminer so much is because Luke-JR also wrote the firmware for the ModMiner Quad and has developed BFGMiner and the MMQ firmware together along side eachother - this gives BFGMiner some advantages. However now that Kano has a MMQ I expect CGminer to be just as compatible soon.

I know some people find Luke difficult to deal with but he is a valuable part of my team and I would basically be screwed with out him (and thats an under-statement). Kano and Conman I know you guys have beef with Luke from time to time, but I respect all of you and I am very excited that you guys will be working with our team on bASIC software development.

and No , I did not really have much time for customer service over the weekend I had family obligations to attend to - I will be handling customer service (responding to emails etc) in the morning.

Thank you!

You can read all about in the cgminer thread.  To all appearances, the bulk of what's in BFGMiner comes from cgminer.  It also seems most people don't have a high opinion of Luke-Jr because of his elitist egotistical attitude.

That said, it's hard enough to tell what's real in RL; on the internet, it's next to impossible.

M

Oh I've read all about it, you can see some of it here in this thread and over in the BFGMiner thread, too. I see elitism and ridiculous comments coming from kano and ckolivas as well, so I don't think either side are "innocent"

I don't use CGminer because I just like BFGMiner better(plus there are a few minor interface tweaks he's made that I prefer, in addition to the best MMQ support out there).

Not that I've been on every thread here... but those that I have, I've never seen anyone except LJ say anything bad about the cgminer team, and I've never seen anyone stand up for LJ.

M
Yeah same here, but my time here has been relatively short.  I have read a large part of the cgminer thread though.

Did an intercept on the courier and got it from him before he took it up to the post office

Couriers are excellent here - they put a card in your letterbox and leave it at the post office - though the intercept was necessary to get him to actually give it to me rather than take it to the post office - seems they don't check if anyone is home - just fortunately happened to see the van and went out to check if it was the courier

Cablepair, while we all belive in you, you said to have a prototype, why don't you post some pictures of it? A PM under a NDA would also do.

Thank you.

My anger against what is wrong in the Bitcoin community is productive:
Bitcointa.lk - Replace "Bitcointalk.org" with "Bitcointa.lk" in this url to see how this page looks like on a proper forum (Announcement Thread)

thank you for your support. however: Our production board is so different from our prototype ASIC board that it would be completely pointless to show pictures of it and would cause more confusion than it would anything else at this point - please keep in mind none of our competitors have released pictures of prototypes or production ASIC mining units but we suspect we will be the first to do so.

this new spec release will be on time with the launch of our new website - which I am told by the web devs should happen this week.

Stay tuned and keep checking back to our web site

we are very close to releasing detailed specs on the device including pictures of the production device.
and other specs like size of the board, chip specs, and more!
