In an intriguingly divergent way, the progress of the game has exceeded our expectations, while the pace of the technical development has so far failed them. This situation is demanding for the administration of the googlesheets version, which heavily depends on human labor. We are happy to be in the challenging situation, though, which prompts us to make a major change in the versioning and schedule.

The Version 2 now announced is named "Trust in Economy" because it concentrates on the remainder of the Ancient era and puts us in front of the question: do we trust that we ever reach the Economy era and year 1600. The frantic pace of the game and the administrative load needs to be eased, and make it possible for new characters to join.


The most important changes to the rules, and additions to the game:

Game Time

The passage of time will be changed to 1 year per 1 real-day, which will make the Economy era and A.D. 1600 coincide with 2015-2-27, 40 days later than in the previous schedule. From that date on, time will pass 1 month per one real-year. This change is asked by some players and we felt that it slows the pace of the game, making it a more pleasant experience for all.

Due to the change of time, the gold and stone generation will be halved, resulting in 1,000,000 gold total in 1600 as previously, only that it is later in real-time.

The interest on loan/bonds, servant salaries and pool payouts will be effectively halved, ie. they stay same per year, but there is only one year in a real-day. The amount of loans and money in the pools stays the same of course.

New Borough

New borough "Trust in Economy" is opened. Apart from the C chapelry there, the land is free for everyone to just take and build on. The land to be claimed for free only needs to be walled and a small minimum initial construction of e=0.15 built on it. A reservation for 24 hours is possible to be made against a small admin fee, which allows the time to design the building project without worry that someone else will grab it.

The new borough is located in a site which allows stone quarrying. This is the first Industry in the game (borrowed from Economy). Some locations inside the borough are especially suitable for this lucrative business. Finding out which of them - and grabbing them in time and organizing the quarry is a matter of skill, experience and luck!

Financial matters and Pledges of Trust in Economy

The Bank will issue a large bond offering of 2,000 million, payable back in 1600. This will measure the practical Trust in Economy in the form of interest rate. His Majesty is giving a special gold medal weighing 16.00 grams to every subscriber of the bond.

His Majesty is offering Trust in Economy gold bars that weigh 1,600 gold. The price is only 10% markup to the price of gold in HM goldshop and the bars are signed and numbered by His Majesty.

The only remaining large piece of land in the Old Town, the lots 1-S-(Q1:Q15) is named Trust in Economy haw (35 q), and accordingly all taxes present and future are waived on it. It is offered for sale for 5,000,000,000 m to the most senior willing buyer. Seniority is Marquesses in the order of creation, then Earls in the order of creation, then Barons in the order of creation. To sweeten the deal, the buyer is instantly promoted a level regardless of minimum qualifications, the King throws in the free design and BI of a custom made palace of maximum 1,000 sqm / 190% lux, a medal of 1,600 gold is minted to commemorate the occasion, with 1 of the only 2 made gifted to the buyer, and the buyer is Knighted in the Ancient Order of the King, whose membership is hereditary and limited to 24 characters. In case the buyer already is a member, he is promoted Sergeant. AOK promotions are accompanied with gold also.

Right next to the haw, in the Village side of it, His Majesty constructs a copy of Palladio's Villa Rotonda, an about 700 sqm classical building. It will house the Department of Economics of the University, which will be chaired by His Majesty himself. All running costs will be paid. The building will be set on an artificial hill in beautiful surroundings.

Building rules changes

Building Editor (the cost calculation tool) is streamlined with the scrapping of separate calculation for low arches, ordinary doors etc. things whose price can be baked in the main cost component - number of blocks of stone in the walls. The building and arching rules stay the same, the change is to the calculation part only, which adds little value.

A Building will cost more depending on its number of floors (100% for a 1-level building, 110% for 2-story, 120% for 3-story etc). This change is really to make the buildings a tad more expensive because the price of XMR has declined, which is distorting the economy, but also to curtail the alarming rate of unaesthetic 5-6 floor residential highrise constructions. Such buildings are not suitable for the era. On the other hand, the maximum height is raised to 30 meters, although on admin permission only, for majestic buildings such as the new Cathedral and the new Palace of Versailles, which is planned to be constructed in the borough #10 with 1,000s of square meters of floor area, an order of magnitude larger than the Malla Royal Palace in Old Town C chapelry.

A freelance architect is interested in starting to offer her services in the game. She is an ardent live-action-roleplayer and artist, and hopefully soon introduces herself in the thread.

Hypothecary Bank Bond Issue Series C: 1520-1600 "Trust in Economy"

The rates in the previous loan auctions in the last years have been in the range of 0.19%-0.29% APR.

The Bank is offering, in connection with His Majesty and the Department of Economics, a bond of 20 units paying back 100 million each. Of course money is needed for loans, but also the unexpected change in the rate of time passing has required us to measure the trust in the game and the new interest rate regime.

Buying these bonds is considered patriotic and a medal weighing 16 gold is given to all participants.
