Lets get to my point about it being a numbers game.
Of the thousands of people who were scammed.
Definitely some committed suicide.
Some lost their jobs.
Some are just are plain fucked.

How does one quantify what is justified?

The fact this innocent person has a very personal relation to the scammer.
The doxxer saw it as a way to put pressure on the scammer.

Actually, if you refuse to pay your bills and the collectors don't know where to find you they will call your work, parents, siblings, neighbors, etc. so that they can get in touch with you.  It's legal to do so in the US at least (with certain restrictions).

This thievery is not chump change. A lot of people have been hurt.

Send *polite* email, tweets, facebook, snailmail, etc. to any of his family, friends, employees, school teachers, and acquaintances  that can be located.  Tell them what has happened and urge them to persuade the thief to return money.  

Pressure can be applied without harassment or threats.
