sell orders decreasing, buys increasing. The charts look pretty nice for a strong run. Im guessing the market is anticipating an imminent release of M2, nothing else would explain this. Time to accumulate before we take off for good.

...the Genesis code (some refer to as M1, the code you are running) is getting rather long in the tooth.  We are working to get Factom Federation out ASAP (what people cal M2), and you can take a preview of the new code by running a node on the Test Net now.   The new code base handles multiple federated servers for greater security and distributed authority.   We have vastly reduced the footprint in memory, use of CPU, and increases transaction rates.   The new code even has a nice control panel and built in explorer.

Thanks for the reply Paul! Much appreciated. I was beginning to feel like this might be the case, but wanted to get some feedback to be sure.

Im really liking the program/ interface, its pretty well written, especially for what is essentially a Beta program.
If the devs need any assistance in testing, or access to my log files, I would be more than happy to provide this info.
I really believe in the long-term potential of Factom, and would do anything I could to get involved and lend a helping hand.

Bid vs Ask is generally deceptive. Fake buy walls and fake sell walls that suddenly disappear are more common than not. I would not pay too much attention to the order book. There were 600 BTC worth of buy orders, and suddenly it's over 1000... As if it grew organically. Yeah, right...
Having said that, the charts are pointing up. The order books(that I don't usually trust at all) are pointing up too. My advice: don't go short =)

Regardless of how many buy orders are genuine, the real story is on the sell side. Some facts:

There are 365 BTC in sell orders till 400K (incl. a 50 BTC wall @ 400K that is likely fake).

On Nov 7, FCT's volume over a 15-minute period exceeded 500 BTC. And that was for the testnet release.

On March 9, the 24-hour volume for FCT was more than 10m USD, or 12,800+ BTC. If only 1/10th of those orders were used to buy FCT, the price would go to 750K. (There are about 1,280 BTC sell orders till then.)

One caveat: Obviously the market won't consist of only buys, and new sell orders can and will be added. However some of the current sell orders are likely fake, and will be pulled when the price approaches.

If FCT's vol after M2's release exceeds its past vol high of 12,800 BTC, all bets are off price-wise.
And remember that Paul has called M2 "the capstone for this year and many others."
