If I recall correctly Paul Revere this argument being put forward by Josh is exactly the same as the argument you were putting forward against the Mage 60 pages ago Pretty much took it word for word although I disagree with the opinion on the grounds that GAW did not acquire their Coins through legitimate means as seen in the email dumps and the Coins should be burned or given to the investors. Good Greif. Not again. WHAT coins? Exactly which coins are you talking about? And how do you determine which coins are legitimate, and which are wrongfully acquired? WHO gets to decide? Why do THEY have the authority to pass judgement regarding someone else's property? Are they suddenly a legal court? If you can not answer these questions and a bunch of others about this plan of seizing coins you are babbling non-sense. This. Thank you. Having people saying they think it is a good idea that Crypto Currency should be controlled by whomever can grab control at any given moment and arbitrarily decide whose property is legitimate and whose is not makes me fucking nuts. I can not believe I hear this non-sense from people who are deeply involved in supposedly trying to advance Crypto Currency. What they are saying is they want Crypto to remain a fucking toy that can be played with on a whim and not a real asset or currency. Complete lunacy.

Company Agrees to $700,000 Penalty and Remedial Actions Not sure how that would help anyone? CPIG isn't an MSB, Hashtalk isn't an MSB, Homero isn't an MSB and none of them are companies in any way. WTF good would a find and remedial action do for a bankrupt company? Did you miss the part where Homero/GAW Miners sold XPY through their site(s) and converted to BTC, etc? They absolutely would have had to comply with AML requirements. You did work there right Jonah? Not sure why you think this is irrelevant. I do agree that they will never get a red cent in fines paid by Homero. A company directly selling crypto currencies most defiantly needs to adhere to AML/KYC laws. Well technically anyone that sells over a $3k limit.

if he wanted to secure the right to dictate rules to his customers he should have released closed source coin and not use open source ppc does anyone know a successful closed source coin?
then again does anyone know a successful open source coin that has rolled back or tampered with the blockchain?

What really disappoints me about this is that you are a talented programmer but have no concept of Property Rights or any clue as to what legality means. Total grey shirt dumbass Communist/Socialist viewpoint. If Crypto Currency is to become a real asset that can be used as a medium of exchange and a valid store of wealth then real, legal Property Rights have to be the very core of it. They actually already are from a purely legal standpoint, but the law is lagging behind leaving random dumbasses to suggest purely communist control of it, rather than treating it as a real asset. What you are suggesting is that Crypto Currency should be some fucking playground play money that some random kids get to decide who's money is legitimate and whose gets eliminated because the other kids decided they don't like them. It is either real property- in which case it is useful and valuable, OR it is play money. I vote for it being taken seriously, and you vote for it to remain a fucking joke to people who actually understand Property Rights.

I doubt that's technically possible without involving some sort of centralization, which would go against some of the core principles of crypto currencies. In other words, if it's a truly consensus-based system then nothing/nobody can prevent it from being forked and nothing/nobody can tell anyone to follow one fork or another. This is probably more Anarchy than Communism. That's not to say that law enforcement can't or won't be tacked onto it just like on everything else. That would simply mean that instead of consensus you would have someone decide which fork is the "correct" one. I can see about as many issues with it as there would be without it. For example - is rolling back an exchange heist acceptable or not?

I disagree. Anarchy is Live and Let Live. Communism is WE think X therefore WE will FORCE YOU to do Y. In this case Y=YOU will lose your property. You strike me as an intelligent fellow, SM. Reading up on Anarchism and the other Isms would serve you well.

But isn't a fork a perfect example of "live and let live"? It doesn't take your property away. You can still trade with those who agree to trade with you (i.e. are on the same fork). Not finding someone to trade with is not Communism, it just means no one wants to trade with you. XPY's "voting" system is of course rubbish, it is about as anti-crypto as the rest of it, hyperinflation, pre-mine, etc. Intelligent, LOL. Nobody ever accused me of that

I'll be recording this shitshow, in case they don't post this one to Youtube. I didn't think that was optional with hangouts on air. Try Camtasia. Works great. You can record anything on your screen in scalable windows, including audio. Free for 30 days type of thing. You can do all sorts of neato editing as well. VERY intuitive. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/camtasia_studio.html

Again, I suggest reading on the subject.
