There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I made a screencast to help newbies get bitcointalkcoin (bcc)synced so they can earn TALK coins in interest. I am offering free 0% loans of TALK to friends and family and letting them keep the interest accumulated to trade as they see fit, but nobody knows how to get it running. Follow this video and then whenever it gets hung on a block, open and close the wallet.

where to find a workable wallet?

it works you just have to close and restart it until it finally gets synced. Maybe somebody could write a script to do this automatically. I did it a few weeks ago, and took me a few days after bootstrapping most of the chain. Had to close and restart many times.

Did you use the bootstrap from page one? That gets you most of the way and then you restart maybe 30 times. Keep trying, it will work and once it gets synced it works perfect. I'll see if I can help get the bootstrap updated, I'm not the one who usually does this but I will try.

I have no idea if I did it right but this should be a snapshot from 2 weeks ago. Let me know if it works or not, I'll try it again if not and if it works I can update every month or so to get around the annoyance of syncing this chain.

Wow, this coin is very old, are there any plans to capitalize on the longevity and do anything with tech like add masternodes, or use distro snapshot for a Byteball or IOTA clone? Lots of goodwill to work with behind this coin.

I like the concept of distro snapshot.  But we would need some dev talent on board.  TALK could be used for round1 ico Wink

For masternodes, I can pay 50TALK/month for anyone staking +1 block per day.  Just PM details or post them here, real easy to do with the chainz block explorer.
