Is it worth it to mine Litecoin right now?

If you have the right machinery and cheap electricity why not? Lots of places to sell it and there are plenty of miners out there.

Use this http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/litecoin-mining-calculator to do your sums.

It has several improvements, some of which are no longer relevant

At the risk of stating the obvious, if a given feature is no longer relevant, then it is not an improvement.

So no. Maybe for some niche applications. Certainly not universally.

its just not as recognised.

First unambiguously true thing you've said.

That being said, I am discovering other coins with many more innovations over both BTC and LTC...

'Innovation' does not denote superiority. Indeed, in the vast majority of cases, the tried and true is superior to the innovative. Probably by the same principle that 95% of everything is shit. 'Innovative' might make you feel proud. In and of itself, 'innovative' does not win you markets.

That said, upon occasion, innovation leads to greater utility. Show me a bigger innovation than Bitcoin. Please. Bitcoin introduced the central innovation of the blockchain - the grand innovation upon which almost all follow-on shitcoins depend.

so in terms of functionality these coins deserve an even better spot than the BTC.

Innovation with recognition is what will triumph over BTC. BTC in its current form isnt quite usable - it was a great invention but now innovation must be allowed to continue. LTC isnt quite the coin to replace BTC, but LTC is technically superior to BTC.

Litecoin is too risky. Bitcoin is the gold and if bitcoin fail, the silver litecoin will fail after bitcoin. If you have litecoin get some bitcoin too. Or get some bitcoin and no litecoin. Get it?

both of them are very risky investments, because bitcoin has swings in price too and is not yet stable. but i agree that if bitcoin were to fail for any reason then all other altcoins would fail miserably too. because nobody is going to look for a substitute for a failed technology. but this failing is not possible at least for the near future.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

At least Ethereum and its clones have their own source code dependant from Bitcoin (I think) If Bitcoin fails, all other alt coins would fail, but Ethereum, Shift and Expanse might still be alive. Just my opinion  Roll Eyes

I don't necessarily agree with you prediction that if bitcoin fails (which I highly doubt will happen any time soon), that other altcoins won't be able to make it because every coin "copies" bitcoin infrastructure.  There are a probably 3 or so good candidates that show a good new infrastructure that doesn't just copy bitcoins exact technology.  And personally, I believe that these coins (or coins that will be developed in the near future) can/will hold around the same purchasing power as bitcoin... they will just offer different people different capabilities in how they want their cryptos to function.

I am so confused.

What is better?  Which one do you guys recommend more?

Thank you for your time

Bitcoin definitely is the cryptocurrency with more adoption, trading volume, and service providers.  Litecoin is more volatile and possibly better for some forms of trading such as futures arbitrage.  On the whole, if you are new to the cryptocurrency ecosystem, I would first explore Bitcoin.

AS i mentioned before ltc market is better to pump and dump ,bitcoin has power to grow as litecoin has but the potencial income from one and other litecoin leads since can be pumped easyest then bitcoin.

From all the altcoins I think Litecoin is the best. Market capitalization of Litecoin is $154 million, which is the second to Bitcoin's $6.34 billion among all cryptocurrencies. I think in the far future there will be at least several cryptocurrencies active and Litecoin will definitely be among them. But for now I'd stick to Bitcoin because it has much more support.

There are plenty more coins with unique source code too. The technical ins and outs have very little to do with faith and that's all that counts in terms of success or failure.

Ethereum isn't the only altcoin which has it's own source code. NXT for instance was the first altcoin made from scratch regarding the code.Furthermore NXT has many features and a very active user and developer base. Ethereum therefore is a lot of talk so far and will have to deliver.

Litecoin could be Bitcoin's small brother in the future although not much innovation is happening there it seems. But I'm always having an eye on it.

Litecoin's daddy has specifically said he doesn't want innovation. He just wants it to work, which it does. Maybe that attitude will win out over the propellorheads throwing all that shit at the wall. Time will tell.
