That reddit post is useless w/o any link to e.g. the sales thread.

Yeah, the link is pointing back to that very same reddit post. Mistake probably?

Monero's privacy and therefore fungibility are MUCH stronger than Bitcoin's. This makes Monero a better candidate to deserve the term "digital cash".

Does it not link to the hardware sales thread? The second to the last line? Edit: I've edited it so the link is below the "Round 2 Sales" Edit 2: The reason why it's not coming up because it's been "Removal_Rover"-ed, meaning I've posted about AM there multiple times and that isn't allowed (and promptly removed). If AM wants to advertise on Reddit, they'd have to use Reddit's ad system ( http://www.reddit.com/advertising)

Friedcat Hardware Sales Update (cross-post): Round 2 SalesFull 10-devices set including: 40 Hashing Units 40 Thermal Pads 3 Ethernet Controllers (1 for redundancy. One controller can in principle drive as many as 8 full devices) 10 Cooling Kits 10 Fans Free Assembling 9.9 BTC/set Hashing Unit: 0.210 BTC/piece for <400 pieces MOQ at 40 pieces. (Each unit hashes at 200-215GH/s in typical clock) Thermal Pad: 0.007 BTC/piece. MOQ at 40 pieces. Ethernet Controller: 0.069 BTC/piece. MOQ at 2 pieces. Cooling Kit: 0.069 BTC/set. MOQ at 10 sets. Fan: 0.014 BTC/piece. MOQ at 10 pieces. For orders equal to or larger than 10 full sets (100 devices) or 400 pieces of hashing units, please contact Phasebird or sale@bitquan.com. The price depends on order size. Shipping Dates are from 27th August to 6th September. That's about 8 TH/s (minimum) for about $5100 or roughly $0.64/GH for in-stock hardware that doesn't include shipping though does it? Good price though, only efficiency is still a bit of a problem at 1w/Gh when other hardware is coming at 0.7w/gh or less

how efficient is AM's chips compare to competitors? seem a lot of grumbling about the efficiency.
the already produced equipment is sunk cost. efficiency ensure positive cash flow (BTC in USD minus electricity price) - esp with BTC down quite a bit from the 650 level.

Not very efficient at all... 800GH tubes using 930 watts. Bitmain and SP-Tech use well under 1 watt per GH.

Very true, their hardware (both 28nm, I believe?) are more efficient than AM's current offerings; there's no doubt about that. However, the S3 isn't available for shipping until Sept 20th and SP30/31 are in September "Batch 2." AM hardware can be obtained within a week and will have roughly a 2-3 week head start.

I believe the AM hardware is also cheaper. Given the life expectancy of this generation of miners, these factors make the moderate difference in operating efficiency relatively moot.

Well last I checked the group buy did not sell very many...and most people have issues. As of right now you can only use them on 1 or 2 pools... Also you can't keep ants or SP in stock for a reason.

I do not understand why friedcat did not offer a packaged item such as previously done: the Asicminer usb miners were a commercial success despite being overpriced hashing-power-wise. Antminers are easy, simple and reliable - Sexy little miners even. Meanwhile I don't get any of that for our latest miners and it worries me My theory: simplicity & ease of use trumps efficiency when it comes to mining market penetration - most of us would rather deal with something slightly slower if it means less tweaking to get it running. The current miners being sold have had poor reception - why not consider an overhaul? I would love for friedcat to have one Single Product for sale to the general public ("Just Add Power TM")- while dealing privately with commercial mining farms. I feel this would sell, like the Asicminer cube & usb miner did.

I was about to buy a few of these, but I looked at both the announcement thread and the group buy thread. Price is good, but you have to factor in local shipping, self-assembly, network configuration, and at least 1 person reported hardware issues. Most importantly, it can only be used to mine on one pool, which is not only unhealthy for the overall network, but gives miners less freedom. I ultimately did not get any for these reasons.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=735728.msg8310763#msg8310763Have you read the update for Round 2 Sales? Assembly is now free.Do you live in China? Shipping is free to anywhere except mainland China. Also, there are instructions there on "How to run on pools other than ghash.io and btcguild with Raspberry PI and bfgminer".

Likely because now a single chip can't mine much?

I'm going to say this again.
We can purchase many advertising spots throughout the forum if we pool BTC together. We can help the company, it is what we invested in after all. Why not try to help it as much as possible? How many shareholders are there? If everyone pooled 0.01 BTC we would have more than enough to buy out all add space on the forum. I was really hoping to get the ball rolling by purchasing dogie's add slot. Does anybody agree with this or am I crazy?

sent a PM to hl5460 asking when they were expecting to have the interview up (wasn't trying to rush them, just wanted to know if it was going to be like the bitell interview/non-interview). Our guy just came back to the office this morning. We will rush him to produce the feedbacks. Just curious if they got back to you yet since it's been a day kind of curious since the last few interview dates went by but no one knew where they were released from.
