I finish all the milestone goals for "Stage 2" of development. What a journey! I am letting the weekend ferment the game into a polished and unbuggy but unfinished game while also giving me time to write a report.
Phew! I am glad that I have the grit to continue for more than 2 month in development. Time will tell if I will spend decades developing this game.

We can approximate the money that MTGOX makes and it is pretty big. 16 million dollars volume in the past 30 days. So they made about $160,000 gross in that time period.
And he even sold hosting & domain name for bitcoin. |

I'm merely trying to point out, that although we may think were above the law- were not. If I'm a libertarian, revolutionary, ect.. I still must work in the confides of the law and be compliant.
That's the wrong word to use. How about this: unethical and overly intrusive. It basically narrows down to this.

When they say at Def COn that they dont believe the bitcoin network can scale up to the number of transactions processed by Vias/Mastercard, I wonder if thats a concern or if thats even a valid statement?
I trust the community can come up with a BIP to fix that if its a valid concern.
I believe there were talk of pruning old transactions but that is not done yet. |

Riiight, well guess what, I'm not going to give mtgox my ID, my photo, or any other info about my identity. If it's mandatory to provide such personal details I will not use mtgox, PERIOD.

Wether or not it is specifically targeting MtGox or not, it definitely still pertains and applies to them.
Fortunately for MtGox, they have operating under this assumption since they began doing business.

"Consistent with the standard for reporting suspicious activity under the BSA, if a financial institution knows, suspects, or has reason to suspect that a transaction conducted or attempted by, at, or through the financial institution involves funds derived from illegal activity or appears to be indicative of money laundering, terrorist financing, or other violation of law or regulation, the financial institution should file a suspicious activity report (SAR).8 As noted in the Joint Guidance, financial institutions that provide banking services to MSBs should file a SAR if they become aware that their customers are operating as unregistered or unlicensed MSBs.9"
as long as mtgox makes every reasonable effort to ensure he is not dealing with people engaged in these activities i fail to see how they can be accused of any wrongdoing. every other bank in the world that services US citizens has the same regulation hanging over its head.
KYC is a violation of our financial privacy. In order to pay our taxes, we gave information to the IRS every year. Are you OK with this? I am doing my taxes for the first time year, but I felt like they're watching my every earning, trying to pounce me on the most obscure violation. It probably only happen to 1 in 100,000 but it probably made life hell. If they're going to sift through somebody's lives, they should be forced to get a warrant and have a judge watching them. I wish I knew a way of changing the situation, but I don't know how. i fail to understand why all the crackheads made a big fuss about how Bitcoin would be the currency of the drug dealers last year. i, for one, don't think Silk Road had anything to do with last Springs rally. i just think it was a good idea whose time had come. its time to disentangle that myth from Bitcoin.

You need to post up an explanation of what everything is/does. I have no idea what I am looking at when I load up the game or start clicking things.
Correct me where I am wrong:
H = the unit you are controlling
Black = ??
Circle = some sort of safe zone
Blue square = crystal mine
Triangles = crystal stockpile
So right now, is the whole point just to gather crystals? What will future goals of the game be? How will you win/lose?

It seemed like it locked up. I couldn't move around (I figured out using a,s,d,f earlier) or anything. You should also place the instructions in a clearly marked location, I just figured it out by pressing buttons.
This could be a bug, but I need steps to replicate this bug or ortherwise I can't fix it. |

Maybe if you provide some idea of what it will look like in the end. So far I have just been confused. My H ran into a blue square and then made a circle then I couldn't do anything.
Does it keep going to the blue square and going back to the circle and making triangles? If so, we can conclude it is gathering crystal stockpiles. My game is harder to understand because both I didn't work very much on making it understandable and because it's a game where you don't directly manage units. It will take time for me to figure out how to help players understand what's going on. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I will write a post on the overall version of the game. Maybe this will help get funders on board. Also, I forgot to mention that I applied for a researcher position for a charity. I doubt I'll get the job, and I estimate a 90% likelihood of failure to get the job. We will know in an estimated 1-3 weeks, because I have to complete an unpaid test research project. If I manage to somehow snag the job, I can still continue to work on this game even if it is in reduced capacity and my situation will be far less fragile. It's better to having written the game, rather than not at all. |
