Ahh i see, so basically its just a big mining pool but you can create your own node to improve latency etc?

Yes & you're in charge of your own pool. No need to worry about stolen coins, pool operator, delays in payout, etc...

On good runs p2pool payout are yummy. Like i said earlier just gotta be really patient.

Fun learning process too. You can dropby my node & have a look. Any questions juat post on the regular p2pool thread.

Many helpful guys are there.
1062  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2P Pool on: January 25, 2015, 10:19:53 AM
You get 0.5% more and rest is shared with entire network.

The more shares you have the more the reward.
1063  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: P2P Pool on: January 23, 2015, 09:05:14 PM
also, please have lots of patience with p2pool but it does pays off

Holy back to back blocks Batman!

No kidding! 3rd time is a charm....

Edit: Double checked to see if it was a record, that's our 2nd luckiest block since I've been tracking at %70,579 Smiley

First place is still block 329431 at %180,136 (just 30 seconds after our previous block)
http://minefast.coincadence.com/p2pool-stats.php?blockoffset=100

more the merrier ! let's rock it Wink

btw, what was the max or record for hitting the most # of blocks in 24hrs for p2p ?

may i humbly ask for a updated step by step noob proof guide on pypy ?

this should work for user using 64 bit linux: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=18313.msg10135870#msg10135870

thx, i'll try to tinkle with it a bit while i polish up my linux skills

Running p2pool few days with pypy. Today I tried $ find -iwholename "*.pyc" -delete and rerun with pypy -O -E. Local rate: 8.49TH/s (1.3% DOA) (3*SP20,4*S3,1*S4). GBLatency 0.275s (running 0.9.4.0, qt version, ubuntu distro). RAM usage 2.19GB (there is 16GB total, I do not care). Subjectively it is better. Objectively we would need more miners using p2pool and to find some block! Smiley

hmm... Think I'll try that later. Can't do that now as there are others mining in my node. And yes.. what we really need it to get more ppl using p2pool to find blocks! Just wondering what it will take to make ppl understand they have to be patience and leave the miner running on the node for at least a week or 2 to see the results. I keep having ppl come in.. mine an hour and leave.. You're just wasting electricity doing that. Maybe have to add a link to the p2pool site maintained by coincadence. Or all of us running public node should add some info.

Lucky guy too. Within few seconds with 400gh, he got a share Smiley Well done.

u can move them temporarily to my pool while you are doing upgrades ?

i'll have a look at pypy but so far running on exe win version seems ok to me.
1069  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 14, 2015, 07:34:58 PM
It will take a while to download the p2pool sharechain, so expect some errors. Just let it do it's thing for a while. I have never used an S4, but suggest you reduce the queue setting to 1 or 0, and let p2pool decide the diff level, ie: don't set it.

which difficulty u talking abt patman ? current share diff or miner diff ?

miner diff maxxed out to 999.984741
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: How to run your own P2Pool in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with merged mining on: January 14, 2015, 10:21:16 AM
stuck in this process, somebody can help me?

your bitcoind port is not being forwarded in router. place your questions on the p2pool thread, more active there.

fwd port 8333,9332,9333 & 7333 (if merged mining)

I posted an issue on Github about the commit breaking things.

I did not try it before I posted, sorry was just excited to see it Smiley

You can pull the code from just before this commit here:

https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool/tree/dfad3cd69c1d2567e41b05e3f5929d654f2014b1

Thanks for this link, was able to get my node back up again after faffing around with that latest release....... Roll Eyes

When I git pulled it, it had been up for over 12 hours - I can't believe we were the only people to have had problems with it, surely? I mean, wouldn't forrestv have tested it first?  Huh  I can't remember ever having problems with new releases, not as severe as this one anyway.

I'd still love to know who my Chinese friend is who's hammering my node from 1.202.128.218:9333 - I ended up having to block it  Sad

bmt ? lol just jk btw hahaha

how do u know someone is hammering your node & wut is he/she doing to yr node ?
1072  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 11, 2015, 03:12:13 PM
whooops . . . new does not mean good. oldie but goldie here running the .exe version

again the old saying goes : ain't broke, don't fix it

does anyone have any experience with the following scenario ?

does your qt or bticoind crashes when hashrate is over 550th/s ? mine did couple of times, if it's below 550ths it runs normal but once it passes the 500 + th/s mark, bitcoin qt crashes p2pool showing "lost contact with bitcoind/qt"

but when i checked (qt), it seems to be running but i just close and restart it then all goes back to normal. p2p was untouched.
1073  Economy / Services / Re: Renting 1 Petahash For 1 Month Slots on: January 11, 2015, 01:08:47 PM
rent for 70k but as you claimed can make 100k so why rent it & not profit the 30k ?
Hashing needs time, maybe he diesnt want to wait?

oh yeah i'd trust a newbie with 20 post 0 trust & no update on his thread . . . hmmm

warning people !
1074  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 10, 2015, 11:35:32 PM
up abt 30gb down abt 25gb roughly for running p2p ... just a rough estimate for 24 hrs

ah cool Smiley let me know if u need anything across the bridge. if u need hosting or anything buzz me. i run 2 little dc's here & expanding soon. sgd250 is TOO EXPENSIVE !

Nice! Will let you know should I rid myself of the fetish to caress my miners :p

i might be making a trip down though (we go lim teh) or a friend might be coming to pay me a visit from sg, u can meet him up then send to me n i hook it up for ya here then let u access it online. put up your p2pool addy on yr sig. ping u n see.
1077  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 09, 2015, 03:12:07 PM
i'm also using the relay , tried both java & .exe my entire system runs on windows.

the exe version seems to be much faster.

@sEpuLchEr seems like u r located in sg heh ? hello from yr neighbor.

too expensive to turn miners over there yeah despite the recent drop in electricity prices in sg.

Ahh.. just across the causeway then Smiley Yes. SG's electricity is expensive but mining is fun. 1 x S4 is about SG$250 a month for electricity. Can get it cheaper if using colo but I like to touch and caress my miners.... LOL.

Edit: I'm actually born in Malaysia. Mum was a Malaysian and Dad Singaporean. Was born in Johor and I spent a couple of years in Pontian which is my hometown. Most of my relatives are in Malaysia though. I could host my miners with them but....

i managed to improve "some" latency issues by regedit in windows & i'm sure there's something you can do in linux. try that & see if it helps.

try to write to mike to get your pool listed here http://nodes.p2pool.co/ the results are pretty accurate.

I consider myself small hashing with 60ths+

Seems like those with knowledge is not interested in helping out much.

Really like the p2pool idea.

Personally i was also ready to offer a 1btc bounty or bonus if there were some +ve news but unfortunately it wasn't.

till then, out from p2pool for now till there's a fix or when someone helps to fix it.

bye for now p2pool.
