1061  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: May 23, 2021, 03:54:07 PM
If the players have the same mentality and if they are wiling to let go off the huge amount of money they are making with franchise cricket then they will stick with the national team and even Shakib Al Hasan had an issue with the Bangladesh board because he choose to play the IPL than touring with the team and we might hear the same issues with other players as well unless their board take a stern decision which is highly unlikely.

Whatever be the situation with other cricket boards the West Indies players will be participating in any franchise cricket even if it is conduct during their peak national playing season  Grin.

You can't force the players. After all, it is their livelihood. For the players, their peak form usually last for 3-4 years. And they need to earn as much as they can during this period. The cricket boards need to take that into consideration. The contract salaries are very low for teams such as Bangladesh. On top of that, the board had recently handed out a one-year ban to Shakib, which many of us thought was excessive. Let some of the younger players be given a chance in the national team. Why they are so dependent on one player? Let's not forget the fact that Bangladesh is a test nation and are therefore supposed to have a good talent pool.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wells Fargo: US Bank changes its mind about Bitcoin on: May 23, 2021, 03:42:20 PM
Not a big fan of Wells Fargo, but the link posted by the OP was two years old. This is a more recent news article:

https://www.bbc.com/news/business-57147386

Quote
Another big US bank is set to introduce a crypto-currency fund, despite the recent fall in value of Bitcoin. Wells Fargo said on Wednesday it would introduce professionally managed funds for its more wealthy clients.

It just confirms what we were suspecting for so long. The institutional investors and the uber-rich are using these opportunities to accumulate as many coins as they can. In the long term, the prospects of Bitcoin looks very bright and they know that. Unfortunately, many of the individual and small scale investors continue to dump their coins at barebone prices and they fail to notice what is going on in the market.
1063  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: May 23, 2021, 02:01:27 PM
Is there anyone watching the match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It looks like a win for Bangladesh. Srilanka has already lost six wickets. Now they're in need of more 114 runs with seventeen overs left. If this turns to be a win for Bangladesh there'll be an announcement of national holiday, because a national holiday was announced earlier when Bangladesh defeated India. Shocked

We still don't know whether the remaining matches will go ahead as scheduled or not. Earlier today, three members of the Sri Lankan contingent had tested positive for COVID 19, and the Lankans were blaming the BCB for providing inadequate quarantine facilities for their bio-secure bubble. Now it is learnt that two of those who had tested positive have returned negative tests, and the remaining member was infected with COVID earlier. BCB is claiming that the earlier positive results were "false positives". I just hope that the tour is not called off.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China bans Bitcoin again in 2021 on: May 23, 2021, 01:25:57 PM
As far as I know, China does not prohibit cryptocurrency, China is fighting fraudsters. They have been struggling with this for several years, just people read the headline, this is Clickbait and people believe in it.

Well.. that may be true. I am unable to verify myself, because the statements from the Chinese central bank are not available in English. Anyway, I had my doubt that the market was over-reacting. Because if the Chinese government is serious about banning Bitcoin, then first of all they should close down the giant mining farms that are operating in China. From looking at the mining hash rate, it is clear that most of these mining farms are still operational.
1065  Economy / Economics / Re: Economy after COVID-19 on: May 23, 2021, 01:13:32 PM
It's still a good decline. Let's wait a month or two for the final outcome.

As of other countries, where the vaccines are supposedly not that effective, it's in the interest of rich countries, as well, to stop the pandemic globally. So, even if AstraZeneca is not effective(which I personally doubt), they will provide the world with better vaccines. But, again, this will hardly be needed, because all the authorized vaccines are effective enough.

AstraZeneca is having excellent results in the United Kingdom. Even in India, the preliminary results indicate that the AstraZeneca vaccine has protected those who received two doses of it, despite the emergence of the double-mutant strain. In most of the states, a majority of the deaths are now from the under 45 age group, which confirms that the vaccine has protected those who received it (above 45 age group). It may not be as effective as the mRNA vaccines, but on field results have proved that it has so far saved millions of lives.
1066  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: May 23, 2021, 01:01:09 PM
Vouchers or not then it wouldnt really matter much because people would always mind on the monetary value and if they do find out on having less 10 bucks or even hundreds then it wouldnt really be putting up much
interest.

This isnt a desperate move but rather they do find out some initiative or some idea that would make out citizens to take the vaccine but same as you said this wont really be enough.

There might be some people or person who would take the deal but majority would be still hesitated to do so but its better to make out some step rather than not
showing some ways at all.

I don't want to blame the governor or the state government for this. Their intention was good and they wanted to encourage their subjects to take the vaccine. But the move may be interpreted differently by different people. But overall, let's acknowledge the move from the government. I don't think that there was any ill intention and the problem may arise when their political opponents use these incidents to badmouth the authorities. I believe that it was a brave move from the state of Ohio.
1067  Economy / Economics / Re: Tesla still an unprofitable automaker on: May 23, 2021, 12:49:10 PM
The point of the post is to contrast "Tesla is a profitable company" with the fact that Tesla is not a profitable automaker. Tesla was profitable because they sold tax credits from the government and crypto, they lose money on the production of cars still.

That unfortunately gives rise to a few questions. Can the governments afford to pour billions into Tesla. And with other automakers entering this sector, there is a chance that the tax credits will be divided up by them as well. From what I have heard, Tesla hasn't made any major technological innovation for the past 4-5 years. Their battery technology remains the same, and the affordability of their vehicles haven't improved. Everything has remained stagnant and that has opened some space for their competitors.
1068  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you see yourself quitting after this bullrun? on: May 23, 2021, 12:37:17 PM
The bull run hasn't yet started. Who want to quit now? Obviously those idiots who believe that Bitcoin is some magic potion which will make them millionaire overnight will be disappointed with the correction. And they will sell their coins at dips. IMO, this is actually good for Bitcoin. If coins remain at the hands of these people, it will be like a ticking timebomb. You never know when these people will dump their coins. Now these coins have moved from noobs to more experienced people and that is good for the overall well being of Bitcoin.
1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sextortion - more than 4000 BTC cashed on: May 23, 2021, 12:26:01 PM
Fake KYC documents are easily available in the dark net and therefore KYC is not going to resolve this issue. If you ask me, I would say that it is possible to track down the criminal using the Bitcoin address. But it is extremely difficult and I will explain why. In all probability, the hacker had used a fresh Bitcoin address without any transactions to receive the ransom payment. So unless he moves his coins to an exchange or a P2P platform, it is impossible to trace back the identity of the criminal. And the hackers are very innovative nowadays. They usually wait for 1-2 years to cash out their coins.
1070  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China bans Bitcoin again in 2021 on: May 23, 2021, 12:13:10 PM
The crackdown on Bitcoin mining activities in China has been going on for years and I see nothing new. This time the Chinese government only insisted one more time. I think this is not new news and this is just a reason for the big boys in the crypto market to manipulate the market profoundly. Buying cheap Bitcoin happened quickly and there were thousands of Bitcoins moving out of exchanges after Bitcoin dropped to $30,000.

The Chinese government causes a crash in the cryptocurrency market every now and then. And this makes me suspicious. Are they manipulating the market, so that their miners and traders could accumulate cheap coins? Let's not forget the fact that the Chinese Yuan is one of the most manipulated currencies in the world. If the Chinese government can manipulate their national currency, then what stops them from manipulating the cryptocurrency market?
1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk Tweeting Power đã biến mất on: May 23, 2021, 12:01:27 PM
The power of Elon Musk's tweets is disappearing as McAfee did in 2018. People are really bored with them and no longer believe in what Elon Musk says. We need to accept that for the crypto market to grow naturally. In my opinion, it is good that the cryptocurrency market is not affected by celebrity statements.

I don't want to compare Elon to a criminal. I was active in the cryptocurrency market when McAfee did his manipulations. What he did was much worse. He took payment from various conmen, to promote scam projects. He was fully aware that the projects that he is promoting are scam, but still went ahead with it due to pure greed. What Elon has done is awful, but even now I will not compare him with John McAfee. I still believe that there is a chance that Elon will realize his mistake and renew his association with Bitcoin.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Horrible day in History of Bitcoin on: May 21, 2021, 06:28:44 AM
Do we really need to remember that day though? Bitcoin has recovered already, as we are hovering in the $40k price range. Just one of the days though and I'm sure many have panicked already and sold their bitcoins while strong hands keeps buying and not affected by the massive decline. That's why in crypto investments, we should also be mentally toughness and not be emotionally affected and look for the long term goal.

The recovery from $34,000 to $41,000 is remarkable, but still we are at least 30% down from the levels we had two weeks ago. The whales continue to accumulate coins, and those ordinary investors who are in panic continues to dump their coins. These clowns are going to regret real bad when the next bull run starts. If you check the history of Bitcoin, you can find several such incidents. But one thing is common with all of them. Whenever such a cycle occurs, coins move from small scale investors to whales.
1073  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid virus 2021 on: May 21, 2021, 05:59:57 AM
and the other problem if the country make rule about quarantine but the people still having a common time outside. im sure there is people comply with the rules or about health protocol, but, the other people that are break the rules is dangerous.
im not sure, but this virus will always be a new mutation.

If everyone was following the safety protocols, then the pandemic could have been really under control by now. But all it takes is 1% or 2% of the population who behave irresponsibly to spread the virus. And they cause danger for the remaining 98%-99% as well. Here in India, there was an incident where a COVID 19 positive person (Wangkhem Rabina) travelled in flight by producing a fake COVID test report. And even after she was caught, there was nothing the authorities could do. They had to let her go after making her pay a fine of $25.
1074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mixing your Bitcoin might become illegal in the future on: May 20, 2021, 04:32:33 PM
I don't understand how the governments can outlaw the mixers. Most of the mixers are based outside the United States and operate without any sort of license. Even if the governments try to outlaw them, they will simply move to TOR and other anonymous interfaces. And by some chance the government authorities manages to shut down one mixer, another will take its place in no time. IMO, the authorities should concentrate their resources elsewhere, on more serious issues.
1075  Economy / Economics / Re: Rich Americans Fleeing Tax Hikes May Turbocharge Shift to ETFs on: May 20, 2021, 03:53:27 PM
This news is so confusing. In my country (bullion) ETFs are taxed at a higher rate when compared to the mutual funds, because capital gains from gold or other bullion metals have a higher rate of tax compared to that from the equities. Is it the other way around in the United States? The only advantage with these ETFs may be that you don't need to sell them every 2-3 years. Gold is an asset that can be held for 10-15 years. Also, since the volatility is low, you can plan well in advance when to sell the ETF units.
1076  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dubai's Government and Gambling on: May 20, 2021, 03:38:45 PM
The problem with that is that there are hardcore believers of the Muslim faith so a change is going to be difficult remember that back in the so-called "Dark Ages" of Europe and all throughout the Middle Ages, Muslims are the greatest intellectuals and scholars of math, science, and philosophy to name a few but they suddenly stopped the innovation because they know that it will eventually challenge their faith.

Unfortunately that is the direction world is moving right now. Starting from the 90s, there have been a trend to involve more and more religion into politics. This has been a case with both Muslim and Christian nations recently. And even in some of the Buddhist and Hindu nations, this trend has started now. Countries such as Iran, Indonesia and Afghanistan used to be very progressive in the 1970s. And you know where they are now. Even in Christian countries, there is a trend of people moving from more liberal denominations to more conservative denominations (such as Seventh-day Adventists, Latter-day Saints and Southern Baptists).

The world seems to have turned full circle. From the progressive values, we are slowly turning back to the dark ages where inquisition and jihad will dominate the world.
1077  Economy / Speculation / Re: What Effects Did the Tether Reserves Breakdown Have on Bitcoin and The Market? on: May 20, 2021, 03:24:04 PM
This is extremely disturbing. Cash makes up less than 4% of their reserves, at a time when the stock markets are deemed to be inflated. Apart from the 65% plus exposure to equities, there is another 24% plus exposure to fiduciary deposits. Now the term "fiduciary deposit" covers a wide range. Basically it is a deposit made on your behalf, by one financial institution on another. Now Tether hasn't given any details of the institutions involved here and therefore we can't calculate the absolute risk involved in this step.

In short, USDT reserves can't be trusted and I would advice the stablecoin users to shift to more reliable coins such as USDC.
1078  Economy / Economics / Re: The Difference Between Staking and Investing on: May 20, 2021, 03:11:20 PM
I don't want to indulge in PoW vs PoS debate once again.. but from what I have seen over the years, PoS coins have been disastrous for the investors. The only exception would be Cardano (ADA), but let's not forget the fact that even Cardano went down by almost 98%-99% in 2018. PoW coins on the other hand has returned good amounts of profit to the investors. There can be exceptions, but in the majority of cases this is what happened in 2017-18 period.
1079  Other / Off-topic / Re: Musk deleted his Twitter bio: no longer a technoking and Mars imperator, hooray! on: May 20, 2021, 02:08:03 PM
I think Elon is just tired. Many people know that the rich are often bored. Much is available to them. At the same time, boredom is a frequent condition of millionaires. Musk trolled on Twitter, advertised the meme coin, played with Bitcoin. What will happen next? The main thing is to be a public person and have PR, it doesn't matter if he is black or white. Tomorrow he will be bored again, bitcoin or any other coin will again become the center of attention of the crowd. It is naive to think that he feels some kind of regret about the loss of other people, or cares about anything other than profit.

His legal team might have warned about impending legal action from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). This time his manipulation went too far and caused hundreds of billions of USD worth of damage in the cryptocurrency market. So I strongly suspect that his lawyers might have warned him to shut the fuck up, if he wants to avoid prison. For the last couple of days he has done exactly that, and as a result Bitcoin has moved up from 34K to 42K. But be careful. This loser can open his mouth at anytime and that may result in another correction.
1080  Economy / Economics / Re: A Sudden Price Drop in The Crypto Markets on: May 20, 2021, 01:46:29 PM
I feel bad about those idiots who dumped their coins yesterday at $34,000 per coin. The prices have gone up by 24% since then. This is a lesson to anyone. If you want to profit from Bitcoin, then you need to do two things - 1. avoid panic selling 2. hold your coins for the long term (>3 years). Those who are unable to do eithter of these two need to make their exit from Bitcoin market. In a way, I believe that these corrections are beneficial for the health of Bitcoin. They help us to get rid of the less serious investors.
