1081  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 09, 2015, 07:34:18 AM
Isn't p2pool an open source?

Then why nasty is using it and not opening it?  Any violations there? https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool/blob/master/COPYING

Nasty has done a good job but tbh his pool small, pass it on to bigger pools around the world and others to let p2pool grow.

Sharing is caring. Not being nasty but just want to help p2pool ...
1082  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 08, 2015, 07:16:44 PM

Do they antpool p2pool nodes get payments from p2pool blocks??

Hope they close down their nodes soon enough.

No, as IYF mentioned, they don't use the standard p2pool share chain.

So do I. Sooner the better.

The way I see it, and please correct me someone if I'm wrong, but they are simply piggy backing off p2pool decentralization marketing, and by using the same ports as p2pool they are stealing/fooling miners into thinking that they are actually helping p2pool decentralization/network - when the opposite is in fact the case. As things are, they are harming the p2pool network.

What can be done? Well, short of every p2pool node banning the IP of antp2pool & pestering them to change their ports - not a lot  Angry

Again, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
You're not wrong.  I spent some time going through their p2pool code when they released it.  All they did was add some reliance upon a database to capture/store worker/share info.  It wasn't complete and I don't know that they ever pursued it any further.  They certainly jumped on the decentralized bandwagon, but have done nothing except for talk about how they support it, while behind the scenes they aren't doing squat.  The last update to the code was on November, 13, 2014.

+1000 to this!

I think it's about time the p2pool community put a little pressure on Bitmain "p2p" in an effort to sort this little misconception out once & for all. I see a few comments have been posted already........

I'm in   Wink

i'll start by bumping up the p2pool hashrate . . .

thx windpath for leading the post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855548.180

c'mon guys lets support the REAL p2pool & not the FAKE !
1084  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization on: January 08, 2015, 07:05:01 PM
As far as we have seen there has been 0 integration with p2pool, and no decentralization of any Bitmain mining pool.

Antpool is still a centralized pool despite this threads title.

looks like antpool is not telling the truth /// those who wants to mine @ p2pool, you can easily setup your own or mine at the nearest node to you.

good site to help you find node near to you http://nodes.p2pool.co/ the nodes listed here are genuine p2pool !
1085  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 08, 2015, 03:14:40 PM
i'm ALL IN to help STOP dishonest pool.

Maybe someone with a good knowledge & higher stats/rep can start a thread so that we can create more awareness on the pool thread & also ask antpool to provide evidence to the public that they (which we all doubt) are legitimately proving as what they are saying/doing ?

I say NO to Cheats & Scams what about you guys ?
1086  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 07, 2015, 07:00:48 PM
weird recent block #337952 ... it's found by antpool ? is that part of the p2pool network ? no pay from this block yet.

after the block was found, my pool went a little cuckoo, started to get some weird msg's (didnt copy sorry) after couple of minutes it went back to normal but my rejected hashrate spiked up !
1087  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 06, 2015, 08:42:24 PM
Thanks for the chart. Sucks that they left p2pool, I wonder they did. Gotta figure out a way to get more power on the pool!

more reliable nodes ? spread the word, more support for each other & developments for p2pool

i have 2 myself & helped a buddy to make 1 on his own.
1088  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: Malaysia on: January 04, 2015, 05:41:04 PM
A lot more are not in the "group"  Grin

all hiding in their tempurung ?
1089  Local / Other languages/locations / Re: Malaysia on: January 04, 2015, 07:31:16 AM
Also those not in the group lol
1090  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: January 02, 2015, 06:35:50 AM
I thought I'd read you could set your pseudo share difficulty to just about any value?  My nodes seem to be limited to 1,000,000.

M

Did u try?  Any eg?

Thx @patman

We on a roll keep the blocks rolling in

another question of the day :

if i do this : Appending "/1000" to a miner's username, i see this on the console : (which is also the diff shown under Current Share Difficulty)

New work for worker! Difficulty: 999.984741 Share difficulty: 13464960.940531 Total block value: 25.016444 BTC including 115 transactions

if i DO NOT append the /1000 to the miner's username (which is a BTC add), i see this on the console : (the value is different & much higher than the Current Share Difficulty)

New work for worker! Difficulty: 999.984741 Share difficulty: 25433607.461485 Total block value: 25.016424 BTC including 119 transactions

so which is which ? should or should not ? confused here  Huh

yes, looked thru the web & all but a finer explanation will be greatly appreciated as being pointed to the right direction with better understanding.

if my miner has a capability of 1th/s & it's getting shares @ the Current Diff (/1000), that means to me it has better chance of getting a share faster but if it's the other way round (without /1000) same 1th/s but with higher difficulty means it has a lower chance or a longer time to get a share.

HEHEHEHHE i found a block ! for p2p

BITCOIN BLOCK FOUND by 1JKhNWfS4D7PPzpvKpqwCny8qeySJta7fh! https://blockchain.info/block/000000000000000011ca2e3 e4607bf793b191de7a2810cd07cdc3a53006dc6b2
1091  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antminer S6 speculation on: January 01, 2015, 12:50:24 PM
chuck a few s5 blades in a box - make sure they're "screwed" nicely

put in a few quieter fans - not that loud but sufficient cooling (by the time it comes out, winter is almost over)

rack mountable ? yeah most likely oh yeah & a fancy LCD screen - but probably with thinner metal sheets for the case ?

try to avoid "magic" smoke from the psu's - stick in a better server type psu or even a VERY good idea & selling point + less headaches where the consumer can find a equivalent server type psu to be fitted/modded.

cost ? - i'm still gonna let ya'll willingly make me rich while u know it may or may not make $

prolly a little "nice" bonus with some miner software linking the miners

cgminer versions ? OS ? yeah there's gonna be sum sort of fukkup but hopefully not especially after releasing a new FW & the miners don't hash or go dead

NO free shipping

my guess - 6 blades minimum, air/fan cooled packed in a box (maybe a light weight one?), lcd display, server type psu = 3th/s (under/over clock-able) between 1500-2000w psu, FW/CGminer +/- abt the same, most likely (my guess) 8 blades underclocked = a lil more hashing power but lower electricity consumption & defo coming in a box (4u)

price - Huh 1 thing for sure BM is NOT going to loose any $

hi guys,

how can i be added to the p2pool list such as the ones here : http://nodes.p2pool.co/

my pool is captminerp2pool.ddns.net:9332 this is in malaysia so i hope i can add to the worldwide p2p node expansion.

thx

I can add you but it might take a day or two.

I got it done early.  Please check it.  Thanks.

many thx .. can't see myself on the localhost but i could see it from my mobile on different network (ip add)

Thx.  As long i get added to the list to join the gamg.

@patman what pool is that with diff of 1?  If p2p why 1?  Shouldn't it be at default 999.9xxxxxx ?

Also another question but I'm sure it has been brought up before...
what is the or any difference if i point all miners to 1 add or each miner 1 add to be pointed at a p2pool. Either way the diff is still the same at 999.9xxxx except i do sometimes see the worker submitted shares more than once msg.

Thx again

CHILLLLLL we here to run tests & a FAIR comparison ! not to .... each other.

Very nice of JB to do the tests & also very nice of nasty who have made a unique p2pool.

So the binaries are available now for Bitcoin Core 0.10 rc1

Here are the release notes:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/0.10/doc/release-notes.md

Anyone try it yet on their p2pool node. Curious if the new block out of order, header, and RPC changes have any compatibility issues with p2pool. The release notes make mention that some software may no longer be compatible with the way core works with blocks.

ain't broken, don't fix it Tongue

just fine tuned my p2pool, working nicely now. will wait and see if there's any improvements later on with the new 0.10rc1

ho ho ho merry xmas to all !

back to p2p 0% Fees captminerp2pool.ddns.net:9332 60+ TH/s p2pool & hungry for more !

Running on 6 cores (12 threads) @ 4.0ghz, 16GB ram @ 2400mhz, qt & p2p running on real-time priority, 256gb SSD

All miners from all over are more than welcomed to join my pool especially to those who are located in asia.

many more blocks to come !

how can i be added to the p2pool list ? I'm also looking to expand further & add more nodes too.

It seems there are no income peers to Your node. Is it because of behind NAT or You did not allow it? It would be useful even for You even for other nodes to allow incomming peers if possible.

Just started the server, the incoming does come, they come & go, all ports open did not block anything but any tip will be greatly appreciated.

thx
