1081  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big." - Jim Cramer on: October 24, 2023, 10:56:11 PM
The Inverse Cramer effect strikes again!

October 11 Jim Cramer said on CNBC "I can’t go out with bitcoin because I can’t be in something where Mr. Bitcoin is about to go down big.”

Just two days later bitcoin did the opposite and pumped like crazy.

Whenever Mr. Inverse Cramer opens his mouth about Mr. Bitcoin I know it is a great time to buy in big. Cheesy

Mr. Cramer obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. His perceptions about bitcoin are totally different from the reality about bitcoin. That's the reason why every time he opens his mouth on his bitcoin predictions, the opposite thing will happen.

However, if we analyze it closely, would it be that all what he is showing to all of us are part of the show? Know that he's a well-known celebrity that can influence millions of people, so if majority of his audience will agree on him, that means his show will also come out successful and top rating. And to think that he said that bitcoin is about to go down big in the time that bitcoin halving is near to happen, so that means he is obviously stating the ironic way. And only those people who don't really understand bitcoin will definitely favor his side and his own points of view.
1082  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Know When to Stop. Lesson for Everyone, Particularly Investors on: October 24, 2023, 10:00:23 PM
Knowing when to stop is also like knowing yourself more. Greedy people often do not achieve success but failure and that is a lesson learned that we must know how to deal with our emotions and much more about controlling our greed. Well, for newbies it seems not easy to know about it but for experienced traders or investors, we probably know when to stop.

 - stop if we already exceed our limits
 - stop if we feel uncomfortable and out of the plan
 - stop if we never understand that market situation
Just learn to stop when everything that is happening is not on your side. Even professional traders sometimes experience this kind of feeling, so they just take a pause and eventually come back in trading when they're not exhausted anymore. But no matter how often you take your breaks but still the same result is observed, I guess you need to change your strategies in trading. Develop a new one and then work on it. And if it's still not working, assess yourself if you can still bear your future losses because if not, change your plan and change your career. Sometimes we need to separate our habit and interest to our own career, if it's the only way that we can stop ourselves from experiencing the same failures and losses that already happen repetitively.
1083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should have taken this risk earlier. on: October 24, 2023, 08:59:37 PM
You won't think about it when bitcoin price moves the other way. See there's no one to blame or something to regret with what happened because we cannot really predict the future. I think the lesson you need to learn from this is to take the risk, without risks you cannot gain from something. I know we all did regret on how big we missed investing on bitcoin back then, this is the same feeling you had when it crossed $34K, imagine there are people who sold their bitcoin for less than $100, $500, and $1000. Investing now might be a bad idea, I'm speculating that it won't reach $40K by the end of this year, and you badly need the money for your education. Learn to time your risk taking.
No one holds the future of bitcoin so I believe that you are not alone in your present state right now. So don't blame yourself for not investing in bitcoin earlier because in reality, there are still a lot of opportunities coming to perfectly invest in the market. Just wait for another price drop so you can enter at a very good position. However,, with your current life's status, even if you know already about the basics of bitcoin, that is not the only basis for you to decide to invest in bitcoin. Yes, you have your money, but you cannot afford it to lose because that is very important to continue your education.

Learn to focus more on your studies at the moment. Bitcoin investment can definitely wait because there's no late or early when it comes to bitcoin investment. And you will only be successful with bitcoin investment if you use your own hard-earned money to invest. And that will only happen if you have your own sustainable source of income. Learn to be patient and wait for the right time to invest.
1084  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Jerwin Ancajas vs Takuma Inoue - Nov 15 on: October 23, 2023, 07:30:35 AM
Just saw a video about this fight pop up on my Facebook feed, so I thought I'd check our thread here. Let's give it a little bump so it doesn't get lost. This fight is just around the corner, less than a month away, if the date hasn't changed.

Anyone got any new scoop on this fight? Please share the info if you've got it.

So far there is no scoop yet, so this fight is still on schedule unless we hear that it's going to be re-scheduled or worst being cancelled. And with that, the date is still November 15 an yeah, the fight date is getting closer and for fans of Jerwin, this is really a good chance to get another belt.

And I agree, it seems that the Japanese is talking over as far as the number of champions in boxing in the Asian region.

There were years that the Filipino has Manny, Nonito, Donnie Nietes, but they all retired or in case of Nonito, we don't know if he is going to still continue to fight or just hang up his gloves too. And so they need to breed good boxers so that the country will have a lot of champions.

Let's see if Ancajas once again will get the belt and at least have a Filipino with a championship belt before the end of the year.

Ever since I followed boxing during my high school days I thought it was really the Japanese that were dominating the Asian scenes. Thailand is next and then the Philippines at third. If only the Philippine government and business sponsors focused on the sport that they are really world class then it can easily surpass Thailand and rival the Japanese.

There are 17 divisions in men's boxing and 4 major belts. The Ring Magazine only awards its belts to the very best in a division but if we count it as well that would make it 85 belts.

You know, it's kinda weird that our government isn't putting more money into sports where we're actually good, like boxing, billiards, and others. They're all about basketball, even though we don't really shine on the world stage – like that time we hosted the FIBA World Cup and only won one game.

But boxing, that's a different story. It's growing, and it's mostly thanks to private investors. It's awesome that our boxers, like Pacman, who've made some serious cash during their careers, are all about boosting the sport in the country.

You hit it right! We pour millions of pesos into basketball, while we can't seem to nurture a sport that brings glory to our country. It's frustrating, to be honest.

I heard that during the FIBA World Cup, they shelled out $1 million for Clarkson and handed Kai Sotto a hefty sum, albeit smaller than what Clarkson received. It really took me by surprise. Just think, if that $1 million had gone into boxing, we could've had top-notch gyms and support for our talented boxers.

At the moment Japan owns 11 belts compared to the Philippines 2 which comes from Marlon Tapales who's expected to lose it all this year to Inoue.

Meanwhile, Ancajas' main sparmate is unified champion Marlon Tapales which is not bad at all. Although Takuma is much faster than Tapales.

It's a bit sad, but it's what it looks like. Inoue is just on a whole other level compared to Tapales, and it'd take a massive miracle for Tapales to pull off a win.

What's probably happening now is that Ancajas is sparring with Tapales, while Takome is getting some work in with his brother Naoya.

Biases in fights abroad are nothing new, especially in boxing. It's not just Japan, but even popular venues like Australia and the US have had their fair share of controversies on this matter. So, it's something Ancajas should definitely keep in mind. To make sure he secures a win, it might just have to be by knockout.
1085  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 23, 2023, 06:16:57 AM

Spurs on the other hand had nothing and when Wemby came in the hype was so high that he suddenly became their superstar although we haven't seen him facing the real game, the playoffs. We are just using the preseason game as the basis and I think that's not enough to conclude this comparison.

Man, the hype around Wemby is off the charts! He's been straight-up killing it in the preseason, and I won't be shocked if he keeps that fire going in the regular season. My only concern is the potential for injuries, especially for a big guy like him who's hustling on both ends of the floor.

He better be careful because he's the main man for the Spurs now. Without him, all that promise they've shown might just go down the drain, and you know they'll start tanking for sure.
1086  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thurman Vs Stanionis WBA world welterweight December 9 on: October 23, 2023, 02:04:04 AM
Even tho Thurman did not compete for a while i think he is still the favourite going into it. His record is pretty good and his last performance (tho long time ago beginning of 2022) was good. I would not could Stanionis out tho, and i think he might actually be my pick for this fight. He is young and active with a good record aswell.

Good luck with that, I think you are putting your money at a high risk bet, but we never know for sure what the outcome would be, as you know, upset is not impossible, Honestly, I have a feeling this is Thurman's time to shine. He loss the opportunity or a significant fight, one that was rumored to be a prelude to facing either Spence or Crawford. I'm sure his goal is to make a comeback and get another shot at the championship. Winning this fight is the first step, and his performance needs to be electrifying to drum up excitement among the fans, which is what the promoters are looking for. So, I think there's a good chance Thurman might secure a victory by knockout in this fight.
1087  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sports bets or in-house games, which is best for the weekend. on: October 23, 2023, 01:44:36 AM
but then we are aware of the higher percentage advantage given to house edge on in-house games,  but on sports bets, you still have the balanced ground to speculate and get the prediction right.
House edge is also existing on bookies. If I choose a roulette and go for 3x odd of 33.33% chance of winning, I will prefer it than a football gambling with lower odds which also have something similar to house edge. The house edge that I am referring to in football gambling can be seen in the odds. Assuming a big club is playing, with small odd, the big odds can have 1.2x odd or lower, but that does not mean the match can not end draw or the underdog to win.

In the world of sports betting, it's your call whether you want to give the house the upper hand. This is a massive market, and if you're betting on odds of +100 or higher, you can effectively eliminate the house advantage you mentioned. It's true that they often say that odds with +100 have a lower chance of winning, and that might hold some truth. However, I'm only pointing out that in the realm of sportsbook betting, we can sidestep the house edge.

You'll fall prey to the house edge if you opt for odds like 1.90, which are usually seen as an even field for winning chances. That 10% juice can be seen as the house edge in this case.

Now, when it comes to casino games like roulette, that house edge is a constant. All your choices are stacked against you, and it's designed to make you lose. So the best approach here is to simply kick back and enjoy the game.
1088  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: October 23, 2023, 01:24:29 AM
Bad news for the Grizzlies just as the season is about to kick off. Their center Steven Adams is having knee surgery and will be out for the entire year. This is especially bad in my opinion because the Grizzlies have issues and Steven Adam’s is a great person with a lot of influence over his teammates and I think a big part of the reason he’s on that team is to keep Ja Morant in check.

I saw this news earlier and I feel bad for the big guy because he could been a big help to them because they needed him as their center, thankfully this is just the start of the season and they could easily fill that position right now. Or their bench players will have a chance to shine because they will be given more minutes right now. He will still be there giving support for the team on the bench and advising them always.

When it comes to moral support for his teammates, I think he's really big on that. However, it's clear that he's not the same player he used to be on the court. I mean, it's evident in his performance over the last two seasons with Memphis – his numbers have significantly dropped compared to when he was still playing with OKC. It's sad news, but I don't think it'll have a huge impact on the team since they have younger bigs who could step up and fill the gap left by their "Aquaman" in the paint.

I'm hoping he can make a strong comeback, and that Ja Morant won't make any foolish moves that could derail their good run. It's a fresh start for Memphis, and I still believe they're a playoff-caliber team, even without Dillon Brooks.

No mate, you can actually merit someone on your ignore list.
You can merit an ignored user but if you already ignored that user, how do you know posts of that ignored user are good to distribute your sendable merit to that one?

It is a challenge to find quality posts from an ignored user but sometimes you can see quality in quoted posts of the user. It is barely seen by you because it needs to depend on quoted posts, not original posts of an ignored user.

1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you prepare for a Bitcoin bull run? on: October 22, 2023, 02:20:47 PM
Better to wait until the bull run /....

We can't just sit around waiting for that bull run before we dive into investing. If you want to savor those juicy profits once the bull run hits, now is the time to jump in. Bitcoin's price is still pretty reasonable compared to what it could be during the bull run. We're discussing preparation here, and that means acting before the bull run arrives. Trust me, if you wait until the bull run's in full swing, you'll likely only see modest gains and risk losing out if your timing's off. So, if you're looking for a safe bet, the time to buy is right now.
1091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: October 22, 2023, 11:44:04 AM
Hahaha, kidding aside, we don't know what might be the future for Berto as before I heard that he wanted to move to SMB but because of his contract from his previous team he can't just sign and jump ahead to SMB,.

Before he played overseas, rumors were flying around that he might get signed by SMB. I believe Northport could be considered a farm team, and many players from there have made their way to SMB. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can think of a few examples like Cabagnot, Romeo, and Pringle.

The rumor was a trade, that means during the time when he was still a free agent and yet that didnt' happen.

PBA Trade Rumors: How BAD was the rumored SMB trade offer to Robert Bolick?

Bolick chose to play abroad for a while and left the PBA. Now, he's back, and the timing seems just right as the PBA season is about to kick off. I'm not entirely sure about the PBA's rules on signing players with the season so close, but if it's allowed, I'm pretty certain Bolick won't have a tough time finding a team. He's kind of a special player right now because he's the only star player available. So, he's in a fortunate spot, and on top of that, he gets to be close to his wife regularly, unlike playing abroad.
1092  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your doubt has no effect on gambling. on: October 22, 2023, 11:19:09 AM
First off, big congrats on that parlay win! It's not something that happens every day. I'm curious, though, what were the total odds on your parlay? You had quite a few bets in there, and hitting a parlay like that doesn't come around all the time. And you bet less than a dollar, which is pretty low risk. It's a lot of fun winning a parlay because when you're betting, you might not even notice the money you're spending, especially if it's just a small amount. You can do that daily. But for me, I'd go for a bit more, maybe risk $2 daily on a parlay, but making sure the potential winnings aren't less than $2,000. That way, if I do win, it's incredibly satisfying.
1093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your nice hit to leave the casino. on: October 22, 2023, 10:24:30 AM
Just in case, what amount will be looking like a nice hit for you to leave a casino just immediately for maybe your first, second or third hit on the machine as you have just walked in?
I make use of online casinos which can be more addicting which is one of the things that I put in mind. If it is $1 that I used at first and won like $3, I stopped for that day. I can do that with $2 next. Then with $3 next. Then with $4 to $10 which would be my last game. That is if I do not want to lose. But if it is for fun, I use low amount of money to continue playing regardless if I gain or lose.

Sounds similar to the martingale strategy, right? It's quite a popular one. Personally, I've used it, but with strict limits on my bets. I can't go all-in with that strategy because it can quickly wipe out my bankroll. I'm guessing the figure you mentioned isn't the actual amount you're betting, as $1 per bet seems pretty small to me. No offense, but I value my time in gambling, and if I want to win big, I know I have to risk a bit more.
1094  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Importance of emotion while trading on: October 22, 2023, 10:01:42 AM
One last piece of advice: don't mix trading and drinking. Trust me on this based on my experience.

Of course, in the same way that you should not drink alcohol when you go to the casino, which many gamblers disregard and which is why they are very profitable for casinos.

If casinos didn't want us to drink while gambling, they wouldn't be serving us free booze, right?  Wink

You can't really equate trading with gambling because trading is a serious gig, whereas gambling is more about having a good time, you know, entertainment. Casinos serve up free drinks because they want gamblers to have a blast, and, of course, to get them to bet more aggressively. They've done their homework and found that when people have a few drinks, they tend to lose more easily.
1095  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Importance of emotion while trading on: October 22, 2023, 05:45:22 AM
5. Stay calm and try to control temporary emotions.

I think the most crucial thing for a trader is to truly understand what you're doing. When you have a solid grasp of your strategy, your emotions are less likely to take the wheel. You're confident that your approach will lead to profits, which lets you stay calm while you work. Trading is a mental game, and once emotions get involved, they can cloud your judgment, leading to regrets later on.

As you spend more time trading, you're bound to experience a full spectrum of emotions. The market's wild volatility can be like a roller coaster ride. But with knowledge and experience, you're more likely to maintain discipline.

One last piece of advice: don't mix trading and drinking. Trust me on this based on my experience.
1096  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigeria socialite went all in on this sport bet on: October 22, 2023, 05:14:11 AM
It's not a big deal at all. You've got the freedom to flaunt your betting slip to the world, and if that brings someone joy, we shouldn't be poking holes in their reasons. After all, he's a billionaire, for goodness' sake, so he can definitely show off his massive gambling tickets.

By the way, that 4.25 million, is that in USD or in Nigerian currency? Because if it's on Nigerian Currency, thats only around $5,558, no a huge bet IMO compared to Drake's bet and other sharks in sports betting.

Naira money. He bet 5M and to win 11M if Chealsea wins. He really put his bet at the right time while the team just scored.

He is a millionaire and has the right to do whatever he desires with his money to influence people arou d him its his business. Politicians do it all the time.

That's roughly around $6,500, and considering the gambling is happening in Nigeria, that's a significant sum of money. It's bound to turn some heads, especially among his peers, seeing someone bet that kind of cash. But as the saying goes, 'mind your own business.' This bettor's a billionaire, and he probably knows what he's doing. As long as that money isn't ill-gotten or hurting anyone, it could serve as an inspiration. Maybe one day, we can also throw down those big bets when we're in a situation where money's no longer a problem.

As far as BIR Regulation and Memorandum, wala pang nilalabas.

Only a BIR memorandum can back up what they're saying. Without that memo, it's just speculation or fake news. They should attach something that readers can verify because tax stuff is no joke. Missing it, whether on purpose or not, can get you in some real trouble, even landing you in jail.
1098  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can it be real bull or just a temptation. on: October 22, 2023, 01:18:30 AM
No bull run happening yet, but you better get yourself ready for the upcoming bull run. This small price movement is all thanks to some big news that resulted to this market sentiment, but if you're expecting a 'real bull' scenario with insane daily price hikes, we're not there yet. According to the stats, bull runs tend to kick off after a halving event, and that's 190 days away from now. So it's too early to jump to the conclusion that the bull run is here. Of course, trends can be deceptive because of the market's unpredictability. No one can truly predict, but the last three halvings followed the same pattern, so personally, I'm betting on the fourth one doing the same.

Just keep accumulating, the more you gather, the better your chances of enjoying the ride when the bull run finally shows up. Remember, for us to confidently say we're in a bull market, the price of Bitcoin has to break the current all-time high. Think about how much you'll have when that time comes if you keep stacking now.
1099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thurman Vs Stanionis WBA world welterweight December 9 on: October 22, 2023, 01:06:13 AM
We haven't seen Thurman in the ring for a while, although he did win a fight after his loss against Pacman. But the Pacman fight is the one that really stands out in our memories, as it was a major event, especially for me since we consider Pacman as our hero. Thurman is known for his outspoken nature, and rightfully so, because he was a champion and still fights like one. If not for his injury, he could have been more active in boxing, but that's in the past, something we can't change. What matters now is that he's gearing up for another fight. I'm not sure if it's a big fight, but with Thurman in the ring, it's bound to be an intense battle, really worth watching. My concern is for his opponent, as I don't think they'll fare well in a toe-to-toe fight against Thurman.
1100  Other / Meta / Re: Should Merit-Sources use feelings when giving out Merit? on: October 21, 2023, 11:46:58 PM
Quote
Hey! I was thinking of something this night, this thing about merits and the merit-sources. If you are a merit-source, should you always give away merit to good posts even if you dislike the user that created the post?

ive wound up meriting posts from users in my ignore list. as sometimes ill see an ignored users post quoted by someone else and if its interesting ill go unhide it and merit it.

so yes people i dislike and even ignore get merited on occasion. but i wont go out of my way to find them.
This shows you have a kind heart, but many others won't.

And as for the quote you replied to, no matter how good and constructive you are, if you are not in line with the views and ideas of most people, they will never merit you. This is very bad since merit sources are not perfect beings, the posts they refused to merit might be the one carrying the rightest information and value.

Probably that'st the reason why Theymos appointed a lot of merit sources.
But we have 109 merit source with approximately 33940 smerits given by theymos almost every 30 days.

Listen, if a couple of merit sources aren't feeling your post, there are still over 100 more out there. But, if most of them ain't vibing with your content, it might be time to reevaluate your forum game. You might want to take a breather, analyze your posts, and seek some advice on how to level up. This applies if you're hunting for merits.

However, if you're not quite at that merit-hunter level yet and you're not racking up merits, but also not getting your posts modded out, you're probably doing okay – at least in terms of not breaking the forum rules.
