1101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 09, 2015, 01:56:44 AM

What is the purpose of compare Monero in 2015 to bitcion in 2012? Now its totally different crypto environment than before. For once, there are like 500 coins, and in 2012 one or two, and a tone of scams between then and now. I doubt that comparing xmr to bitcion from 2012 has any prediction value for what future holds for xmr.

So i think that speculations whether to buy or mine xmr should be based on current xmr status. For example, are there any new services in the development or planned that would use xmr? When we will see onion version of xmr.to or monero block chain, if ever? When i2p will be integrated and what benefits it will bring? etc...

Difference of opinion.

I feel like the rise of Monero is inevitable, with a very small chance it might be some other implementation of
CryptoNote.

The world is not going back to fiat, and cryptonote offers the best digital form of money we have ever seen.  Whether it consumes the world economy remains to be seen, but I feel that a paltry $2000 per Monero is inevitable during the next wave of cryptospeculation (coming soon, possibly 2016 - 2019).  It may go much higher.

The world is very different now, and that's exactly why I feel so confident about Monero.  That it costs 40 cents each is utterly absurd.  I'm waiting for my bonus check to come in soon so I can pad out my holdings a little bit.

I was thinking, if monero is a better anonymous crypto compared to bitcoin... and bitcoin mainly got it's popularity and price hike in the world of darknet markets, why hasn't the darknet adopted Monero as an official payment and drop bitcoins all together?  Even though I feel like this would "sell the soul" of Monero to the devil in a sense, it would get the word out about the benefits of anonymity and just how good it is.

Idk, I don't think the Monero community would want this to happen... but it would sure boost popularity.
1102  Other / Off-topic / Re: Complete the sentence... "I would sell all my Bitcoins if..." on: October 07, 2015, 11:56:15 PM
I will probably sell 2 or 3 when it hits 1 million dollars per coin  Grin Tongue

If it gets to $1 mill per coin, then that in itself means that the dollar would probably have little to no value at all.  Why would you want to sell out? There would be no point...
1103  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you have any plans if Bitcoin goes up to 300$? on: October 07, 2015, 11:54:37 PM
It's so funny to have read so many "Is bitcoin dead" threads on here for the past month or two, and now people are speculating that bitcoin will for sure pass the $5,000 mark... I mean, yeah I'm planning on bitcoin to go back past $300-$400 for the time being... but gemini is only one exchange that is going to be mainly used in the U.S. ... I think some of you guys are putting way too much hype on this exchange site to take bitcoin to the moon again.
1104  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Best Countries for Bitcoin Businesses on: October 07, 2015, 10:32:27 PM
Probably the island of Isle of Man will be fit to your criteria. This self-governing British Crown nation could be a true paradise for cryptocurrency's business.

I've heard of this, but does anyone on here know the living costs of living there? I'm currently on a hunt to find a new refuge to move too... I'm tired of being in the U.S. and looking to move to a nice place to live, and being in a place that accepts bitcoin as a currency sounds like a good place to go too. I looked up some pictures of the place and it looks very nice. Does anyone else know of more information about here?

1106  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do bitcoin addresses expire? on: October 07, 2015, 09:04:50 PM
Also, it should be worth noting that most of the time when you receive bitcoins on some wallets, the address will change... don't worry about that, the address you provided before for someone to pay you will still remain valid and payments will still end up in your wallet from the previous address.

1108  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really feel comfortable giving away all the information Gemini requests? on: October 07, 2015, 02:55:51 PM
Surely not. But I will research as much as I can to make sure the exchanges is what they say it is. If everything is right, I will happily test out their exchange.

I also don't like the fact that Bitstamp has my personal information and a high res scan of my identity. At this point we have no choice other than to provide them our details.

Just curious, what else can you research about the site that's not already on the user agreement form? Everything that they would hide is in there, and from what I read it isn't something I would want to be apart of... But because of the circumstances of where I live might force me to sign up. I don't know what to do to be honest.. All the exchanges doesn't give the customers one lick of privacy at all, I guess it helps us because of the whole Gox thing, but still... Just doesn't feel right.
1109  Economy / Gambling / Re: ToTheMoon.me | Invest into the Bankroll of Social gambling site on: October 07, 2015, 12:43:32 AM
So what was everyones profit from this site so far? If I were to put in 1 BTC what would I get back within a month? Just curious, it seems like a pretty cool way to increase your BTC's.
1110  Economy / Gambling / Re: Challenge: What's the best way to win 1 BTC with 1 BTC? on: October 07, 2015, 12:40:51 AM
0.01 on 100x i think if your lucky you can hit it twice in 100 rolls.
but everything depends on luck

I actually think this is the best way to go about playing dice... bet low with very low odds of winning so your winnings will be 1000X more... better than slowly losing over time, than to just risk it all over a couple of bets which could pay out big time.

monero development history visualization: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLjAQJqghRI

I just added the music to make it a bit more lively.  Grin

I think it would be a little better if you could actually read what new "clusters" are being added, I can't seem to follow what's going on during the whole video... regardless it looks pretty cool Smiley
1112  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gemini opens 08 Oct for trading!! on: October 06, 2015, 11:15:05 PM
So I'm just curious, I know for a fact that they share your personal info like SS# and other things you have to provide them to the government which they can choose to do whatever with.. Doesn't this scare anyone? I know it scares me, and I never do anything illegal with my Bitcoin, just the fact that they have ready access to this makes it feel something shady is going to happen...

The US government already knows your SSN - they're the ones who issued it!

Well it's not just that, but trusting Gemini as a third party that could do whatever they want with that information.. Personal information about you like that is very valuable.
1113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really feel comfortable giving away all the information Gemini requests? on: October 06, 2015, 05:20:50 PM
Don't like it? Don't use it

This thread is more for a conversation of principal... not my personal feelings on the site.  I'd just like to get the general consensus of everyone here on bitcoin talk before the official release.
1114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 06, 2015, 05:15:32 PM
Huh, only now checked that BTC is rising (good) and XMR getting cheaper (good)!

Wait, I just woke up and check the price and it says it rose in price? Idk if the app on my phone is getting the correct prices or not, but I'm seeing $0.42?

We're talking xmr/btc, you are looking at xmr/usd. If btc/usd gains more than xmr/btc goes down, xmr/usd will be up.

Ah, I gotcha... sorry. Just now waking up and not really thinking correctly.  Well, it's time for me to purchase a little bit more then if this is the case Grin

Please also note that Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT ACT requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. This federal requirement applies to all new Users. This information is used to assist the United States government in the fight against the funding of terrorism and money-laundering activities.

What this means to you: when you open a Gemini and/or User account, we will ask each person for their name, physical address, mailing address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify them.

I know the "patriot act" is supposed to protect us from terrorism and all, but do you really feel comfortable handing over SS#'s and everything possible to identify you as a person and track every single "bit" you are spending?

I'm using/learning/playing/investing with Bitcoin

I'm using Bitcoins to pay my utility bills (Phone and Electric bills).
I'm investing in Bitcoins since I see a good earning opportunity due to its exchange rate changes almost every minute.
I'm still learning more about Bitcoins and I'm thankful that there is a forum like this that opens the door to everyone to learn about Bitcoins. It's not enough that you know how to earn Bitcoins, you also need to learn where it comes from or it's origins.

I would say I'm still in my investing stage, and investing some of my income into bitcoin and few other altcoins I see promise in.. while also investing my time to learn new things about bitcoins so I can invest money and time wisely.  It's still a "wild west" feeling about bitcoin, and there are still plenty of entrepreneurs out there planning to make the best new service to make bitcoins, or another altcoin that could possible change the game for cryptocurrency in general... it's definitely an interesting time to be in.
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 06, 2015, 05:57:38 AM
Do you think that current issues with Cryptsy can affect Monero prices, if for example, many ppl from Cryptsy move to polo or other exchanges?

I was wondering more about the new news about gemini coming out with their own exchange site, that makes people have to give their SS# and stuff to the government, so they can start tracking certain peoples purchases with those bitcoins... Idk if people will start to get suspicious of them or try end up being really successful..
1119  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin Exchange Gemini Approved for Launch in New York on: October 06, 2015, 05:27:02 AM
wow, this thread got derailed, lol. Why are we talking about politics on a bitcoin forums?  Huh

Because Bitcoin challenges central governance and leans more on libertarian socialism.

Libertarian? Yes... Socialism? No... Socialism is pretty much as centralized as it gets. If the US sees Bernie Sanders to be president in 2016, then I don't see things going well for the outcome of the US. Then again, I couldn't be able to tell, just a educated guess based on my political ideologies...

But what's going on with Gemini is totally related to politics, because the government is now mandating the exchange services for bitcoin are to fully subservient to the government so they can begin to track all purchased bitcoins and where they end up and who's using them. In the beginning, bitcoin will see a pretty nice increase in price due to the nice and easy access for bitcoins now in half the states in the US... but I believe this is going to cause some weird/bad things in the future.
1120  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Gemini opens 08 Oct for trading!! on: October 06, 2015, 05:14:23 AM
a licensed and regulated bitcoin exchange in the United States.
Aren't we against that?

Yes, but because people are going to see a slight increase in the beginning with gemini pumping.. people really don't seem to care as long as it makes them some short profit.
