That's a flawed punishment, because why would I not pirate something if my maximum punishment is what I would have paid anyway. Chances are, I will not get caught. I'd say 1 in more than a thousand gets caught.
Hooray for writing shit down not making it reality!

Well some folks mine to sell them, if they get a bunch more because of a faster rig, they might drop their prices, especially if they are looking to pay off that new rig fairly quick and then profit later.
Ill sell my coins at 10 a pop instead of holding out for a few weeks or months possibly hoping that it might go to 12 and not drop to 8.... as an example. I will want to recoup my investment in the new asic and machine.
There is a possibility that the price will drop.
Aaron
They can't get a bunch more except for a few days or maybe weeks because as they get better at finding blocks blocks get harder to find.

" Bitcoins are volatile, can you guarantee my payouts if Bitcoins rise or fall in value? Yes, our broker VenetFX holds extra Bitcoin reserves, twice the sum of all clients deposits at all times. Just in case that won't be enough, the broker will acquire more Bitcoins on the market. "
This is enough to say that I won't put a single $ or BTC on this broker.
No kidding, how could twice all balances ever not be enough? They obv plan to fail at that and then they will fail at getting them at all.

If I write in a database that I have X coins, those aren't 'fake' coins and more than if I write down that I have gold is it fake gold. I mean it isn't real, but it isn't even fake.

That warning isn't quite right because it implies that the old backups won't be dangerous in the wrong hands, but they will until you have used all existing inputs.

Yeah, to bad I can't get to the tables, just sticks on "Loading Lobby". It has worked before for you? Have you tried restarting the browser? Then try restarting the computer.

If anyone doesn't know, you can get those stats at the bottom of the 'Home' page.
I woudn't rely on those stats much. About 50% of new registrations are bots who only wish to post a link with anchor text at the profile page. Sure, but unless there is some reason to think the fraction of bot accounts substantially changed in a particular direction it's good for measuring the change in interest.

There are two sorts of complaints imo:
1. Using that site is a risk because tons of money is all in one place so it's a big target, I'll go somewhere else, do it myself, whatever.
2. OMG that site is trying to CENTRALIZE bitcoin!! Don't use it or bitcoin will fail!!
Only one of those is a reasonable position.

We had more new signups in June 2011 than the last 6 months combined.

My idea - freeze it. Sort out things.
That punishes the innocent (those who are owed coins from their winning bets). That would be, in my opnion, unacceptable for Bets Of Bitcoin to do. I have coins with NCKRAZZE, therefore my interest.
Then talk to NCKRAZZE about getting your funds back. Bets of bitcoins is responsible for BTC that go into it and out again. The platform would take 5% of 300 illicit acquired BTC. NCKRAZZE has been given a scammer tag and is not reacting to messages. He has failed to present any information for repayment. Expecting a service like this to police the source of funds is ridiculous. If a service was going to do that they would need to give warning to not be thieves/fraudsters themselves. And the only appropriate time to do it would be before the money was allowed to be wagered and wagered against.

Why does the standard client always send the change to a new address?? It would make more sense to send the change back to one of the sending addresses.
Sending to a new address leaks the least privacy. Also, there is no concept of a sending address in the bitcoin system. Sending back to one of the input addresses could be an optional setting.

Better to have some alert to robots or just some fixed content ("We accept bitcoin"?) that identifies you as accepting bitcoin. Many BTC accepting stores won't even be displaying an address in an index-able area.

I think I'd want 1BTC to be my highest denomination. Personally I doubt I'd ever use the BTC10 either, but some people are high-rollers, or may just want them as collectibles. Powers of 10 are a bit far spaced. Quarters?
I thought of that, but I'm reluctant to design quarters between every power of 10, especially with the price of bitcoin still so volatile. If these first chips are sought after and there's demand for quarters in a particular range, then I'll no doubt offer them. About how much for a 500 piece set?
Still determining my manufacturing sources right now, so I'll make an announcement here when I've got that in hand. Cool, keep us updated.
