1101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 30, 2015, 10:16:01 PM
My last U3 just died.  I can see it with zadig and reinstall the driver, but it does not get recognized by cgminer, nor is the R1 able to fire it up as a controller.  The red USB led lights up, but that's it.  It will no longer hash no matter what I do.  RIP U3.

Yours may just be dead/defect also, zOU.

And as usual it's never the users fault and bitmain sent you a crappy u3 right?
I don't want to say it's your fault but chances are you overclocked it behond safe parameters even though you might not admit it.

Not sure where this attack is coming from...  I have run my U3 well within its operating parameters for the entirety that I have owned it.  For the last several months that has been 785volt 237.5freq, well well below not only the maximum values, but below bitmains recommended settings as well (which you can find in this thread if you dig back far enough).  I can assure you this was not user error, for months it "worked just fine"*, then suddenly it will no longer hash.  The U3 is a piece of shit, this is no secret, so a sudden failure comes as no surprise to me.

*there is no such thing as a U3 that works just fine
1102  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 18 to Jan 1 diff thread setup picks are now Closed!!! on: December 29, 2015, 11:12:09 PM
I was just checking my usb miners and saw this on the screen:

8 blocks solved in ~10 minutes, that's just crazy!  At least it helps clear the tx backlog...

My guess continues to be a contender.

1104  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 29, 2015, 09:29:12 PM
Solo ckpool still down.

You can use the german site, de.ckpool.org:3333, it has not been a target of any of the ddos attacks.  I use it and the solo.ckpool.org as my back-ups.
1105  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 29, 2015, 07:22:59 PM
but the time the machine takes to submit that diff one share is much faster than the diff 1 billion share..
Not sure what you are using to draw this conclusion, but a share is a share it a share - they all take the same "time to submit".  Submitting shares isn't what solves a block, it's how many SHA256 hashes per second that can be calculated.  There are no "secret settings" that increase your chances at solving a block.
1106  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB Antminer U3 on: December 29, 2015, 07:01:27 PM
must hash 60gh without issues.
You realize you are asking more than a U3 can deliver, right?  "Without issues" does not exist where the U3 is concerned.  Save your coin and wait for the gekkoscience pod miner...

Yes, you are on .094. 2 of the enhancements were based on your suggestions

Well how about that, thanks for listening!  Sadly my last U3 just died, it no longer hashes, but I'll update my firmware "patch" anyway.  Thanks again for sharing this with the community, it was a god send for as long as I was able to use it for my U3.

This has shut the campaign from this post.

Well shit, what happened?  Someone provide a link please.

So this campaign is over for good, or will a replacement escrow be found?
1110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience BM1384 Project Development Discussion on: December 29, 2015, 06:51:07 PM
The first picts look awesome, so glad to see this coming along.  My last U3 just died, so I am anxiously awaiting a replacement in the form of your pod.
1111  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Dec 11 to Jan 11 Sidehack Compac Stick pool club latest setup. on: December 29, 2015, 06:46:26 PM
what are you guys running your sticks on? laptop raspberry etc??

I have 1 stick on a usb 2.0 hub on one desktop, and I have 3 more on another desktop.  Of those 3, 2 are in a usb 3.0 port and one is on a Y-cable.  All 4 of my sticks have at least 1 amp available on the their ports, so I run them all at 262.5mhz.

I have a usb fan below and out of the picture that blows up on the heat sinks.

You will never earn anything mining a bitcoin pool with a graphics card.  3MH/s ain't shit anymore, you are wasting your resources.
1113  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: December 29, 2015, 06:43:11 PM
Would be nice for the pool operator to talk to people on this thread about the pool and its problems
There are other pools where the operators do care, do participate on the forum and answer questions/concerns, and run their pools with the good of the bitcoin network in mind (no empty blocks)...
1114  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 29, 2015, 06:37:34 PM
When my phone notifies me of multiple blocks in a single day I always think it's just a reboot or something that triggers the app to notify of a solved block.  Really cool when they're not ghost notifications!  Latest block got its first confirmation, let's knock out a few more before 2015 ends.
1115  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 29, 2015, 04:08:03 AM
Easy now...
I agree with your sentiment, in general, but in this case I expect someone who has spend good money on a top of the line miner to, at the very least, understand the absolute basics of mining.  They should know what network difficulty is and what it takes to solve a block, otherwise what are they doing?  They should understand what the pool they have their miner pointed to mines, otherwise what are they doing?  Being ignorant in these basic things is inexcusable in this case, it has nothing to do with being knowledgeable in a particular field - I'm not talking about programming ASICs or building hardware, I'm talking operating a bitcoin miner 101.  If all you know is to plug in the miner and watch the "blocks found" field for a change from 0 to 1 then you are doing it wrong.
1116  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: ASICPuppy.net - Mining equipment and accessories on: December 29, 2015, 03:59:37 AM

Changelog for release 0.95:
- Opened up port 4029 for API access to cgminer-u3 instance
- Max frequency for U3 increased to 250M
- Max fequency for R1 increased to 250M (I have not personally tested freq past 125. Use at your own risk!)

Very cool and generous of you, I'm sure a lot of folks will benefit from it.

Can I assure release 0.95 is newer than what is on my unit that I ordered a few weeks ago?  I'm asking because I see you added U3 freq 250 which mine does not have currently.

Thanks again!
1117  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 29, 2015, 12:44:31 AM
looks like one of my S7 found a block

Why do people always post this?  I mean, how ignorant of bitcoin mining are you if you don't understand the basics of share difficulty?  How much do you research where you point your miners if you don't even know what coins they are mining?  People baffle me all the time...

OMG is sayz I fund a blokc so I must have fund one!!!11!!

Really, you and the people after you couldn't look just 6 posts prior? Same thread even.

Previous page, man, and posted on xmas eve so easy to miss. It's history at that point and I only move forward, rarely do I have time to go back a page on these threads.  Thanks for pointing it out.
1119  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dec 18 to Jan 1 diff thread setup picks are now Closed!!! on: December 28, 2015, 10:55:38 PM
A question for those that know? How is the network Hash Rate & Individual Pool shares measured? Is it all worked out from the speed that blocks are solved & who solved them or is there other information involved?

Network hash rate is estimated based on the time it takes to solve blocks at the current difficulty, there is no absolute measure of total network hash rate and when you think about it how could there be?

Pool shares are measure by the respective pools and reported accordingly.
1120  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 28, 2015, 10:38:26 PM
Try using v4.9.2, it is the most current release. 4.9.1 had problems detecting the U3.

Otherwise your problems are typical and among the reasons why the U3 totally sucks.
