1141  Economy / Exchanges / Re: www.BITSTAMP.net Bitcoin exchange site for USD/BTC on: November 12, 2013, 05:35:40 PM
How long is the verification period? My status have been "PENDING" for three days now.

1-2 days in general... but the recent media attention for sure has increased the amount
of new members so expect rather 3-4 days time of wait.

Yes, with the recent bubble the amount of trading was bound to increase as well as site exposure. Its amazing how gox lost so many clients. Although I'm sure they are sitting with their pockets full, happy as pigs in shit.

I haven't gone through all pages on this thread so not sure if it is mentioned somewhere but can someone tell we how long it should take to receive a SEPA withdrawal that I initiated today from Bitstamp? It is for a 4 digit amount. The current status: "Waiting to be processed"

Withdrawals from MtGox take 6 weeks, I hope Bitstamp is faster.

SEPA from bitstamp takes 1-2 days after they process it. And that usually happens in 1-2 days, depends if you have hit their working time. They do not work 24/7, neither do banks.

My last one took 3 days, i think.
1144  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: November 10, 2013, 03:52:46 AM
there is one (!) product in the database??? How should this be an alternative to bitmit?

well it's not so far off from bitmit in that department , lol
1145  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: November 10, 2013, 02:36:05 AM
how much do you think the site is worth???

Hard to say. 50k USD?

More liek 2k USD.

Come on, no-one really used that site, exposure was so low, that when news about closing bitmit went live - this thread could not stay in a 1st page more than for 3 minutes.

Wonder if maybe the input.io hack got him worried since he does keep wallets on system and all.  So basically decided the risk was not worth it at least for him anymore.

If he worried about that, he could make the website automatically pay out to your own private wallets when money is recieved to it's own wallets, that way nobody risks anything. The site never holds money.

That's a very crude solution, a part of people change/destroy their wallets time to time.

I think it can be changed quite easily.

1148  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 10, 2013, 02:23:21 AM

It's not about being "wealthier", it's about not being irrational: if the price is extremely volatile, we already reached the peak, and there is a down trend, why would you risk the chance to sell everything now and buy again on the bottom?

I'm expecting more >2000btc drops, are you not?

I bet more money is lost by people selling on a top and waiting for a dip, than buying on a top just before a crash.

It's really interesting how 90% of the people who try to beat the market and fail don't brag about it much.  Just those who got lucky and made .7 btc's.

You actually have a great point there. With all these FUD threads popping out, about making great money selling or buying no-one bothers to make something like "looks like a [insert date], I lost [insert number] btc trying to move that way, goddamn [insert "bears", "whales", "etc"].
1149  Economy / Lending / Re: CoinLenders Script :: Bitcoin Bank (Borrow+Deposit) Software :: Demo Available on: November 10, 2013, 02:19:51 AM

Learn from your mistakes (we learnt from ours, sure) and use your experience to reset your business career. You are young and life is long to keep regrets forever.

(as I stated before, all my coins for the moment are sealed in coinlenders and if TF does not pay something, my very survival is questionable beyond the next few weeks, seriously)

I'm terribly sorry. Sad

Maybe he got a loan in a real world, possibly from some shady guy, or took a loan in a real bank to dabble in bitcoin? Smiley

Otherwise your post is a great advice, I always wandered how pathetic should a person be to seek an easy way out like this. Or some beggar sitting in a corner, wasting his miserable life away. Go rob a store or something. If you fail, they at least feed you in jail. Only reason to end you life would be to save some other(s).
1150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can anyone post an exhaustive list of bad things Bitcoin is doing to this world? on: November 10, 2013, 02:13:08 AM
Grossly disproportionate rewards to a small community of self selecting early adopters.

Is there any other way to start a cryptocurrency?
<image>
Bitcoin uses "EaseOut".

Is better/possible use an "EaseInEaseOut" curve? Any Altcoins tried it yet?

With 5 exchanges with vast amounts of this coin, and which buy and sell for a FIXED price. If people want to buy/sell outside of those exchanges for different price it's their right to do so.
1151  Economy / Exchanges / Re: www.BITSTAMP.net Bitcoin exchange site for USD/BTC on: November 10, 2013, 02:06:11 AM
I sent a scanned copy of my electricity bill as proof of residence, but Bitstamp refused it, saying "Proof of residence document does not meet our verification standards as we are unable to determine the validity of the document - additional verification required."

Just how does that scan not fall into the "utility bill for utilities consumed at your home address" category of accepted documents? The bill clearly stated my name, address and the date of issuance. Perhaps they are unable to translate Finnish? If that's the case, they should clearly state their language requirements too. The relevant words on the bill should be easy to pass through Google translate, though.

I've sent my ISP bill which I got in PDF form, then printed it out, then scanned it again in a weird angle.
That bill had my name, personal code and address on it.
1152  Other / Off-topic / Re: What video games do you play? on: November 10, 2013, 02:03:20 AM
Planet Side 2, but quitting soon...

MMORPG and other MMO games are usually bad for you. Some faster competition games are fine, if you consider them as a sports activity of sorts. But games where you are expected to grind grind grind, ugh! Nothing they can offer can compensate for amounts of uselessly spent time , which you can surely use in a more productive or fun way. I kinda gave up on MMO's long time ago and it was a great decision.
1153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: November 10, 2013, 01:57:15 AM
I don't see it hitting $1000 unless something ridiculous happens.

Well, we just need more china people to buy, just like what happen now....

And they need some incentive to do so. Make facebook accept bitcoin to pay for ads or something. Then the price will skyrocket. OR make steam accept btc, as those both are kinda intertwined already.
1154  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining with <$500 for Fun? on: November 10, 2013, 01:55:25 AM
Why not buy a gpu or two if it's for fun? You can even play games simultaneously with it, and the heat output is useful in winter. Also you can resell it if you want out.
1155  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: MtGox residence proof on: November 10, 2013, 01:53:08 AM
As a Canadian, is there any way for me to prove my residence? I don't pay utilities, my cell phone is paid with the cable bill as it's cheaper bundled, and I obviously don't have private health insurance. They won't even take bank statements, which seems ridiculous to me.

You can make a fake one, cause they rarely bother with checking it out, just type your address and personal data correct. It's not like they are going to get in touch with a company that should send you those bills. I used my cable bill for my verification at Bitstamp. It was a pdf which i printed out to scan it again in a weird angle. That was enough for me.

But I would suggest against gox, they have high fees and waiting times. For me living in a EU Bitstamp is a no-brainer.
1156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Great New Crash (fulfilled) on: November 10, 2013, 01:48:42 AM
It's actually a very good thing in the end. Beats some sense into people. We need periods of stagnation like after this thing goes down and then back up to 150$ or something. When price sits in one spot people start to move their hardware around, come with other ideas, place is thriving in other ways. But when bubble keeps growing - everyone goes mad and refresh btc price all day and night, leaving other important matters out. Only good thing coming from these bubbles is a flow of new souls willing to depart with their money.
1157  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What should be the Goal(s) of Government? on: November 10, 2013, 01:40:27 AM
Luckily for us we are all the same person.  Once we all realize this, it shouldn't be hard to respect one another and achieve equality.  Anarchy requires people to evolve on a conscious scale to treat all other beings as their self.  People could fight for power, but the population would regulate people who thrive power, because nature is against those who seek power.  Money ideally would not exist in an anarchist society, to keep people free from greed/power.

This is nothing but a childish dream. Also money = convenience.

If medical treatment costs 10 sheep.
And 100 sheep are equal to an elephant.
Would you cut 1/10 off your elephant to go see a doctor?

And if someone in power gets thrown out, it's only for someone to get in his place. And you have to have someone important for all the risky decisions, which you cannot wait for people to make a mass vote or something. All this anarchy talk is useless, we should be talking about making current systems more manageable to live in, not daydreaming about something else.

1159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best faucet sites? on: November 08, 2013, 04:28:49 PM
Sure there are many faucet will lower their rewards now since the price increases

that's usually not the case. They mostly give out 0.00001BTC or 0.000001BTC

No-one bothers to readjust that tiny amount, whatever price may be.

I stand corrected, the faucet I've linked to earlier (freebitcoin (ref)) just lowered it's payouts by 30%.

And there are no more "true" faucets, it's actually captcha solving for BTC

Or rather what are you trying to do?

What's the point of this thread? Trying to educate us?
