Now you're making me feel bad I haven't had time to update it.  My lame excuse is that I'm doing paid work/day job instead of this.

where can we send you a coin or two? having this thread stickied and up-to-date is in my best interest my best interest my best interest Cheesy sorry keyboard got stuck in a loop.

I think my JS was disabled so this wasn't clear.  Thanks!

if js was disabled, it wouldn't have saved it at all.
1144  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My Bitcoin survey is ready to begin! on: June 19, 2012, 08:16:58 PM
Yes, I'm only saving a hashed value of the e-mail addresses. (A repeatedly hashed value to be more precise. You can never be too paranoid. Cheesy)
How is this more secure?

Well, I'm not an security expert or anything, but as far as I know, there's no computationally easy way to reverse a hash function (let alone several times), so if anybody were to (somehow) get into my database, they wouldn't suddenly have a handy list of plain e-mail addresses they could use to spam with.

i think he meant 'how is more secure to hash repeatedly'? and the answer would be in the time it takes to brute force it.  eg. 1 hash vs 100,000.

by the way, i didn't do the survey because of google... just letting you know, i'd happily do one without such a restriction.
1145  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: June 19, 2012, 06:56:06 PM
Just tried playing around with this....

I don't see how to get it to save, am I missing something?

From what I can tell it saves automatically, as soon as you adjust it.

that's correct.

edit: and i just put a little 'Updated' text in there to make that more obvious.
1146  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 6.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: June 19, 2012, 08:40:46 AM
I'd like to see a 50/50 option on the auto re-invest.

for now I'll turn it on / off every other week.

okay so i've actually done this already...

the re-invest system has now been updated to give lenders much finer control over their settings.

for example, you can set up your account to send 3% of your weekly earnings and re-invest the remaining 97% if that's what you want.
1147  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: June 19, 2012, 05:35:03 AM
hi, did you get a chance to add this appdata switch? i'd love to try it out again.

Oh, yes I did!  Sorry I forgot to mention it.

Armory homedir:  "--datadir=Z:\newdir"
Satoshi homedir:  "--satoshi-datadir=Z:\newdir"

wow, awesome... so ignoring the registry stuff, this can now be a totally portable app? if so, the last missing piece of the portability puzzle is distributing it in some other form other than .msi Cheesy
1148  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: June 19, 2012, 05:24:32 AM
However, there is no option for setting where Armory should look for the Bitcoin-Qt/bitcoind home directory.  Armory autodetects based on environment variables -- specifically "os.getenv('APPDATA')" in Windows, "os.getenv('HOME')" in Linux.  Looking at the code now, I don't see why I can't add an option for this, it just isn't in version 0.77-alpha.    I have added to my list of things for the next release -- add a customizable bitcoin-home option.

Until then, if you are really anxious to try, you can permanently change your "APPDATA" environment variable to point to "Z:\appdata" from the control panel (search for "environment" in the upper-right corner).

If you are constantly changing your "APPDATA" directory depending on your context, you can dynamically change it from the command-line using the "set" command.  I'm not familiar with the mechanics of doing this through launchers/shortcuts.  You might have to make a .bat file that says
Code:
set APPDATA=Z:\appdata
C:\path\to\installed\Armory.exe

Or just wait a week.  I'll have a major release out with this option added.

hi, did you get a chance to add this appdata switch? i'd love to try it out again.

thanks.

What would be nice is an imbedded spreadsheet for the forums, for information like PatrickHarnett is doing. It would make things a lot easier.

Great job & great idea by the way.
You can use tables, although it's hard to visualize.

I saw someone use a table in a pm, so while cumbersome, I think I can set it up externally before importing it.

mem's newbie-friendly gambling list is probably a good example for people who want to see how tables are done in BB code. (just hit the quote button on his post to see the source).

cool idea, should be fun to program... maybe this weekend.

Can you add the option for us to change our passwords?

this is now available in the login area.

[Just want to verify]
I can send at minimum 10 BTC any time I want to my deposit address and it will be added (manually or automatically, when ever it gets added)?

minimum account size is 10 BTC.

after you have an account, you can send deposits of any amount, even a satoshi, and they will get added to your balance automatically.

so, it turns out a few of my lenders have been sending quite a bit of 'dust' (transactions lower than 0.01) to their deposit addresses.

i haven't yet decided how i feel about this. first impression is bad, but maybe i'm being too picky and if it works it works.

just thinking out loud.

*blinks and raises hand* Oops?  Grin

heh, doesn't it make things more difficult for you? with respect to your account history & earnings reports?

i'd want to keep them as short and simple as possible, but that's probably just my personal preference.

I have a spreadsheet pulling the stuff out of my blockchain.info address. However, I'll stop if that's a hindrance to your database.  Wink My apologies, no trouble intended.

no, it's fine really.

if the db ever hits half a million rows i'll let you know Wink

(and design some of the calls more efficiently)

You should have a minimum transaction amount if it bothers you Smiley

i should first work out why it bothers me.

but fatigue brings up a good point. it is 100% automated and requires no extra work on my part.

the only 2 issues i see are:

increased tx fees when bundling all these tiny bits together (not a real issue yet)
more rows than necessary in bitcoinmax db, which may eventually affect performance (not a real issue yet)

i suppose i shouldn't complain that people are sending me money Cheesy

keep it up, forget i mentioned it.
